We got a new PUPPY!!! We are so happy to finally move to a place that allowed dogs. We rushed out and found the best pupper to join the family. But we knew it could be a challenge training and lacked any experience.Time to find some professionals.  Dog Gone Good has been a Dog Gone Miracle!! The new pup had a lot of accidents and seemed to be nervous around strangers, even other dogs during walks. After a few lessons we have a better idea how to handle and address all these issues. It's been more of a training for ourselves than it has been for our dog.She has noticeably improved and now socially interacts with others. Has gained confidence around other dogs and no more messes inside the house. Thank you for providing a great experience! More...

Mike has 5 stars for a reason. We had tried a different, cheaper trainer before. That trainer just wasn't able to get us any results despite good intentions. We went onto look for a new one and figured out Mike is the top guy in San Francisco. Our dog Dusty loved his training. In only 3 sessions, we trained him to stop eating crap off the ground, to stop pulling on his leash, and to have perfect off-leash recall. Mike is very honest businessman- doesn't sell you more sessions than you need. He's quite busy with bookings and isn't desperate for your business- ha! That said, he takes the time to tailor the sessions to what your dog needs. And gets the job done! More...

We did 5 private training sessions and Mike was super accommodating to our schedule and locations, in addition to drop ins at his puppy 1 & 2 classes. We were looking for a trainer who focused on correction training methods in addition to positive reinforcement training. Kona has come SUCH a long way from when we picked her up from the shelter and we owe all of it to Mike. Highly highly recommend him! More...

Luna and I had a great experience with the training that Mike provided. He's clear and quick to identify how to correct certain problems. We did the distraction training which allowed us to now be able to take Luna out to busy areas and she will sit, stay and come back in any situation. Even with a class of 12 people and 12 dogs I felt that we had individual attention and direction even in crazy places like Crissy Field and Chestnut Street. We took our puppy to Mike's Puppy 1 class. Mike's class not only covered important stuff like sit/stay/off and trust/respect exercises, but also gave us a chance to ask questions about things at home like potty training and biting. We wanted our pup to be really sharp and we were having challenges with crate training, so decided to do a two week board and train at Alphadog. Mike is the training director there, so our pup received training in a consistent manner. We were able to visit our pup as much as we wanted, and he came back the same dog - but better behaved and fully crate trained. We will be starting Mike's Puppy 2 class in a couple of weeks. My husband + 6 mo. old golden retriever and I are HUGE Mike fans.  We took his Puppy I class and are now enrolled in Puppy II, which we highly highly recommend.  Both Mike & his training partner Rose have made a significant impact on our puppy and how we approach training.  You can tell that they have been in this business for a long time and seen all the trends come and go; as a result their training is a well-rounded, successful blend of it all.  Mike might be scrutinized at times for being "tough," but trust me when I say he is effective - not at all harsh.  Our puppy is our baby, so we would never put him a position to be hurt - however like any puppy he needs proper discipline, routine and structure and Mike's style of training is highly successful.  I just learned that his training is rooted in horse training, which makes a ton of sense and gives me a deeper level of respect for him. One other note I have to add: we were in a pinch to find a sitter while we are on vacation next week (our Rover sitter backed out last minute), and Mike went ABOVE AND BEYOND in assisting.  He offered to board Winston but unfortunately was going to be out of town, so instead he sent me multiple recommendations and followed up several times to see how we were doing.  He continually checked in with me, and when I said we still hadn't found someone he offered more suggestions and confirmed a sitter for us (Sarah Harrison of Ollie and Bear, amazing!) the following morning - without me having to send another text to him.  Mike literally has given us peace of mind before this vacation, knowing Winston is in incredible hands (of a highly regarded, fellow dog trainer no less).  If this isn't above-and-beyond service and genuine, pure love for dogs and their well being I honestly don't know what is.  Mike just graduated [in our books] from being Winston's trainer to our personal family member and friend in one day.  Please consider him in the future, he works wonders! Mike is an excellent trainer and a great resource for both new and veteran dog owners. When I first contacted Mike about registering for a puppy class, he took the time to get to know me and my dog over an initial phone call. Mike is a no-nonsense kind of guy, after assessing our dog's progress (we had adopted her so weren't 100% certain on her training background) he recommended that we bypass the puppy 1 class for our 6 month old and register for puppy 2. I didn't feel at all like he was trying to "upsell" me. In fact, the fact that he had me register for level 2 immediately made me feel like he is doing what's best for the dog. He also recommended that we utilize his website videos to prep for the class (excellent quality and free!). From day one, I trusted Mike and he did not let me down. He has recommended several training tools and strategies that have worked to stop our dog from pulling on walks, barking in the apartment, and overall ease her anxiety.Over the course of our 6 weeks of class, he worked with both our dog and with us to make sure that we were all on the same page and nailed down basic commands and fostered an environment of mutual respect. Mike is extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic, personable, and, most importantly, effective. He was recommended to us and I can see why! We started working with Michael Wombacher shortly after our French Bulldog puppy turned 9 weeks old. Now exactly 1 year later we have completed Level 1, Level 2 twice, and we are currently on week 4 of Level 3. Every stage of training with Michael has been imperative to the success of creating a well behaved dog. Level 1 was so helpful with puppy socialization and planting the seed for obedience training. It's not required that a puppy has to complete all the vaccinations in order to start Level 1 as proof of at least one round of vaccines is necessary and it's only puppies in the class. The new school of thought is that the benefits of socializing between 2 and 4 months of age out way the possible risks. Michaels overall training strategy is a combination of positive reinforcement and imposed corrections. It has proven to work very well for our dog. Level 2 focuses on the foundations of obedience training with less treat based rewards. A good bulk of the series is leash work which is so incredibly critical. Level 3 comes full circle and takes place in an outdoor setting. It is focused on recall and pretty much everything learned previously but with all the real world distractions. One of most important aspects of training is doing the homework. It's not fair to expect a fully trained dog by just coming to the classes alone. Reinforcing all the training learned in class at least 15 minutes everyday is very key. I credit Michael 100% for our dog who listens, follows our commands, and respects us. I can not speak highly enough about Michael and his knowledge for dog training and our dog's current disposition and discipline.
