This review is long overdue. I ordered a dresser for our nursery and the drawers only extended 50%. It was more complicated than just replacing the tracks, the wood needed to be modified to accommodate new tracks. When I got around to calling carpenters the baby was almost due! David was kind enough to squeeze the project into his busy schedule. He even came over to pick up the dresser and he dropped it back off when the project was done. Thanks David! More...

I hired David based on what he wrote in Yelp about himself as a wood working and carpentry expert. I asked him to install solid wood door jambs, doors, and casings that I sanded and finished myself. I also asked him to install Kahrs engineered wood flooring. His work was mostly OK. I encountered the following problems.(1) He is very imprecise. I uploaded some pictures that show the bad miter he did on the door casing, the wrong height for the door jambs and doors, and a major gap in the flooring that he did not fix. Also, notice the bad nailing on the door casing. Those nail holes should be much smaller, almost unnoticeable. They stand out!(2) He gives certain dates usually a week or two later when he comes to do the work. On those days he shows up around 9 am or later. No matter whether he finished the work for the day or not, his tools fell out of his hand around 3 pm. If the work is unfinished, he gives a day the following week or later... this slows down any progress.(3) This is the major one: he does not fix his errors on his own time. As long as he keeps coming he will fix the errors he made earlier, but - of course - his time is paid for. If the work relationship stops and the error is discovered later, he refuses to come back and fix it on his own time.On my project David worked with expensive doors, casings, and flooring where the mistakes could not be addressed without replacement of the material that he cut and installed. That means paying for those materials twice as well as the extra labor for fixing the mistakes.I am very disappointed at David's refusal to correct his mistakes. He did a lot of work on my project and I paid him a lot of money for it. I was willing to let slide the small stuff many times... he was not careful around the house, scuffed the wood and the walls, his nail holes are highly visible, the kitchen drain leaks, and I had to fix the caulking of the shower after him. But today he told me to hire someone else to trim the doors that he installed wrong. I paid a lot of money for the door isntallation. The height of the floor is uniform throughout the house and the tile was already installed before he hung the door. Even if the wood floor came later the height of the doors was obvious.This treatment is way beyond what a customer should endure - even during the covid construction boom when it is hard to find people. I have used David several times now and every time he has done high quality work in a timely fashion. He even went above and beyond to design unique wood elements for my son's room after taking a detailed approach to figure out exactly what I wanted. I have had bad experiences with carpenters before and I am so glad I took a chance on hiring David! He is a family man and I felt like he treated the work as if it were for his own home.
