We highly recommend Josh from DJ G Events! He was the DJ at our wedding and we had the best time! Our dance floor was packed from the first dance to the last song of the night. He took our requests and played music that the whole crowd got into. So many of our guests are still talking about how they never danced so much at a wedding, and we thank Josh for his ability to hype up the crowd and keep them moving! It was an absolute pleasure working with DJ G. He was very accommodating when we had to postpone our event due to COVID, and even more so when we had a last minute venue change.
DJ G did an excellent job of walking us through the process of selecting songs for our event. He provided a general outline for us to consider and then was able to take our suggestions and put together an excellent selection of music throughout the night. We would have been at a loss without his guidance, experience and taste. At the event, he blew us away. There were no mic issues that seem to plague other weddings. He was able to keep the event moving on-schedule and seamlessly transitioned between the ceremony to cocktail hour to the reception and dancing.
The dance floor was really where DJ G shined. People were on the dance floor all night long. While I was initially skeptical about taking requests, his system for taking requests via text was a hit with the guests and, more important, it was his judgement on what and what not to play to keep the energy up and to keep everyone having a good time. DJ G was great at reading the crowd and we loved his transitions between songs and mashups. Over the weeks following our wedding, we received so much positive feedback specifically calling out DJ G for the amazing job he did. I would recommend DJ G to anyone else looking for a great night and a well executed event. I know we will be looking for excuses to hire him again in the future.

What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?
Communication is key. DJ G works with each client to understand what music they and their guests like or don't like. We then take our over 10 years of experience in DJing parties of all sizes to choose songs that fit within the song or genre selection guideposts provided by each client. We are also always actively DJing. Using loops and effects to help guests hear familiar songs in a new way, and creating the perfect blend of songs that allow us to transition seamlessly between tracks, keeping the party moving and not sticking on a single song for too long.
How would you describe your ‘style’?
Our presentation is polished and understated, marked by creative seamless mixing and a professional “cheese-free” approach to announcements and microphone work. Your guests are not attending your event simply to see us DJ, and we have no interest in turning your event into a circus. Your dance floor will be packed, but it will be because the DJ selected the perfect songs and mixed them perfectly in just the right sequence – not because they chattered endlessly on the microphone or embarrassingly wrestled your guests onto the dancefloor.
From 60’s soul to modern pop and everything in between, we’ve got you covered at any wedding. As an avid music lover, DJ G is able to play from a variety of decades so that everyone at a wedding – from ring bearers to grandparents – has an absolutely awesome time dancing the night away. What do you love most about your job?
Working in the celebration industry is always fun. I love being in a party atmosphere and feed off the positive energy coming from clients and their guests.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I’ve been making mixtapes and dancing in my bedroom since I was six years old. Whether it was gettin’ down with James Brown, air guitaring to Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin, or chilling out with Bob Marley, I’ve always had an appreciation for an extremely wide variety of music.
As tapes fell by the wayside and were replaced with CD’s, I began making mix CD’s for friends and family and, as my CD collection grew, my musical horizons began to widen and encompass genres such as Jazz, Country, Nu-Disco, Electronic Dance Music, Afropop, and many others.
DJ G Events began as a way for me to share my ranging taste in music with others, and I began mixing tracks at house parties throughout the D.C. area. House parties led to birthday parties, which led to proms, 50th wedding anniversaries, weddings, bar mitzvahs, and so on.
Since I started DJ G Events in 2010, I’ve played over 100 events in the Washington, D.C. area and have tailored music for diverse crowds from all backgrounds and age ranges. This sort of experience has enabled me to connect with any audience and allows me to guarantee that your guests will simply love the music at your next event.
