We recently moved a full large 2 BR 1.5 Bathroom. It took them 3h total which is fast. They did a fast and good job, despite boxes not being well balanced and sometimes too heavy. I highly recommend District Relocators. This is our second move with this organization and they were again professional, responsive, thoughtful, and respectful. Our second experience entailed moving our home contents out of two large self storage units into our newly renovated 4-story home. The move was not easy due to tight access, narrow stairs, and several large and heavy pieces of furniture. The team excelled with a can do and "we will get it done attitude". I really don't understand the 5 ratings, almost seems like friends and family. Total ripoff and rude owner, rude workers,l. They act like they are doing you a favor. They give u a quote but beware, they will charge you double, and you are on the spot as to what to do last minute, because at that point you don't have a choice. Dealing with them gave me anxiety, stress and had me in tears. Do Not recommend these guys to anyone .. i rather pay a bit more but have fair, cheerful and decent people help move because its a stressful time for anyone to movs and having people like these will give u a breakdown, which happened to me. I moved in July (the busiest time of the year) and I'm SO glad I went with District Relocators!! They were so efficient from start to finish. We had almost all of our things in the truck within the first 30 minutes and in total from VA to DC it took about 1 hour and 30 minutes for our entire move. An incredible team here and I'm excited to use them again next time! Also, I want to mention that they were the most budget friendly moving team in the DMV. It was about $485 for 17 foot truck & three men; I had to move a 1 BDR with big and heavy furniture. HIGHLY recommend these folks!! More...

Have used this moving company twice for a long distance move between DC and NYC and cant recommend them enough. They offer a very fair price on long distance moves and offer discounts as well. I corresponded with Tony both times and he was great. Always super responsive via text or phone call and was able to get the dates I needed with just a weeks notice. They do their best to accommodate you and are very understanding of changing personal situations. The movers were great and helped us pack everything up including loose items we forgot to put in boxes. Nothing was broken, missing, or scratched any time. They are also super speedy and each time only spent about 45 minutes moving everything (for context we have a one bedroom apt in an elevator building). I have moved every 1-2 years over the last 20 years due to work and this was the worst move I have ever had. This is a shame as I have used District Relocators in the past and was very satisfied. However, this move was unorganized from the beginning as they kept pressuring me to change my moving time outside of the time frame provided when booking the move. I finally agreed as they were just supposed to prepare and wrap the furniture in my apartment since I didn't have the freight elevator reserved, but instead they stole the freight elevator from someone else and began moving my things anyway. The movers were completely unprofessional. Due to their neglect there was significant damage to my household goods, many boxes destroyed as well as numerous broken items. They also put a huge gouge in my living room floor when moving the sofa. I purchased several wardrobe boxes and the movers were so careless that bar and clothes were all at the bottom of those boxes which completely defeats the purpose. The really sad part is that despite being a loyal customer for years and voicing my concerns they put me off for months and then refused to offer any compensation to make things right. More...

I highly recommend District Relocators. The proactive communications leading to the move were invaluable given the complications of moving from an old / historic building in NW DC, (I. E., permits, congested streets, traffic, small elevators, and narrow stairwells, etc.). The team of 4 arrived on time and worked as a well coordinated team. They were nimble, creative, and careful. They brought forth an enthusiastic "can do" positive and respectful attitude despite the challenges presented by the building and the near 100 degree temperature. Was recommended by a friend who had a good experience but not going to use again. Would not recommend. Quick and accommodating scheduling, but downhill from there. Rude service day of the move from my apartment to a storage unit. Since moving into a new place I have found many broken items, damaged furniture, and damage to my mattress that came from the movers dragging it along the ground and ripping up the protective cover in the process. Deeply unprofessional. I charged service to my card through PayPal as requested. Card flagged service charge as fraud and I didn't notice this change in status until a few months after my move when I got several frantic calls from District Relocators each threatening immediate legal action. I understand trying to keep your books balanced and mitigate potential loss but four early AM calls and two threatening emails within a few hours of each other without giving me a chance to listen to the messages and respond was ridiculous and underscores the lack of professionalism of this company. For the record I was able to notify my card of the error and get the fee to Tony that same day but the poor treatment at that point really added insult to the injury that was very poor moving service. What can I say- I arrived at my new home minus one jewelry box that contained precious irreplaceable pieces handed down from my family. It was the only thing that didn't arrive. And yes, I was an idiot who labeled the box it was packed in "jewelry box" and took the recommended insurance, which means I'm entitled to all of $6 for the loss. It was too easy. I've used District Relocators for several moves over the last 8 years and I am always impressed. My most recent move they were able to complete in 90 minutes! These were one of the worst moving companies I've experienced. At first, upon contacting them, they scheduled a call to identify the furniture they would need to move for us to figure out the size of the moving vehicle. Afterwards it went downhill. First, they were late for the pickup. Then they did not bring a big enough moving vehicle so they forced us to choose what furniture we would leave behind. We were forced to leave behind a outdoor toddler playset and a few pieces of furniture. Then, during delivery they bent and/or broke a few pieces of the furniture when moving it into the new house.In the end, I would not recommend these movers to anyone else. More...

It's a decent cost quote-- so know that going into it. But, don't expect any sort of kindness/niceties or even really any conversation. The four movers they sent out were good overall, but only one was wearing a mask (blatant signs everywhere about mask wearing) and it doesn't bode well when the first comments made to you are about how you're not prepared (untrue) and they won't deal with a mounted TV (which was never going to be moved). It wasn't until we were at my destination that I realized one of my lamps is missing. I have the lamp shade but not the base. I also had my mattress in a protector and wrapped but the protector was filthy (it was raining during the move) and the bottom right side and pillow-top area were drenched. I had to use a hair dryer to dry it. There were also items that never got moved and I'm not sure why. A suitcase that was full and ready to go-- a box of some artwork, and a monitor. The service we received from District Relocators was really exemplary. We got the quote quickly and started planning with Tony about our anticipated move date. Due to some technical issues, our move date was up in the air but Tony was really accommodating and worked with us to shift it as we worked with finalizing closing and occupancy dates with our new place. On the day of the move, CJ and the moving team texted when they were 15 minutes out. The team was professional, asked good questions about our items and were able to get all the items down and loaded into the truck in a reasonable time. When we arrived at the new place, the team again quickly unloaded the truck and got the items into the new place and even took the time to ask good questions about where we wanted items when we failed to label the boxes and bins appropriately. The new place had several flights of stairs but the team was really accommodating in taking care with our items. The entire process took just over 3 hours which was impressive given the significant amount of items we own. We have unpacked all the items and there is little to no damage (nothing one wouldn't expect with normal wear and tear from moving). This is a great company! I searched for a moving company to move my furniture from DC to NYC. I was so lucky to have found District Relocators on the internet. As soon as I reached out to them they promptly contacted me and gave me a very reasonable estimate. Soon after, they scheduled the move. On the day of the move, five guys showed up and loaded the truck up in 15 minutes. The men were very pleasant and trustworthy. They carefully wrapped up everything. The company arrived in New York on time. The unloading process was so easy, quick and efficient. It only took about 20 minutes. Wow, these guys are amazing!1. We sent a request for quote and we had very reasonable estimate provided. All the details are spelled out in the quote unlike other moving companies. Since we had a 1 bedroom 900sq ft and we're moving 0.8 miles, it would generally cost ($350) for 3 movers over 3 hours. That includes fuel and other typical charges, as well as a $50 discount.2. They had availability for our date but were pending a DC parking permit application so could lock down a date for 2 weeks. By the time we had it, the evening spot was available so we booked it. No deposit required. They would arrive any time between 1-3pm and call when here.3. At 1:30pm we had 4 movers arrive and they promptly parked in our reserved spots and started unloading all their supplies. It took about 5 minutes and they are a hard working bunch with an assembly line style. Super efficient! When I walked up to the apartment with one of the movers we first sat down to review the estimate. There are additional charges if time exceeded 3 hours and there were stairs. As we did not have expensive pieces, we just used the free insurance at $.60/lb. We were impressed by Derrick Dave Chris and Lillay. I basically sat on the sofa and used my phone for the 2 hours it took them to move everything out. They retaped anything that looked questionable. They disassembled and assembled our bed. They carefully moved all ten of our large art pieces!4. Upon meeting us at our new location, they assessed the setup. I actually forgot there were 4 stairs instead of a ramp and that the door was very narrow. Nonetheless, they moved everything quickly in about 1.5 hours! As boxes and items were brought up, they would ask me where the boxes belonged. In the Future, I would Label these on all the boxes. I was actually able to start unpacking while they brought things up. Ultimately our table didn't fit in the loading dock door, but they managed to get it in the front door.5. At the ends, they reviewed costs. I paid chef to avoid a 3% credit card fee. With 3.5 hours and some stairs our adjusted cost was $450. It was a great deal and amazing service.
