The family who runs Diamond Hill Vineyards are so nice and accommodating. We went yesterday afternoon for my daughters birthday and enjoyed the atmosphere, the people, and the wine. We got a late start so definitely will return when we have more time. Thanks Diamond Hill! You went above and beyond and we appreciate it. More...

Super cute!  I came here with a friend on a Saturday around 12:30 during the summer and the place was pretty busy.  It's $3 for a tasting but the fee is waived if you buy a bottle of wine. It's pretty cramped inside so we had to wait 5 or so minutes before we were greeted and able to start our tasting simply because a group of 4 was already doing a tasting.  They give you 5 wines to taste and all are so-so.  They won't blow you away but they are very unique tastes.  Some made of cherries and some black berries.  The blueberry port was my personal favorite. We chose a bottle of wine and brought our own snacks of hummus, crackers and cheese and sat ourselves outside in the sun.  Like I said, it was busy and there were some kids running around the yard and playing.  It wasn't loud but a very peaceful outdoor experience. The winery gave us glasses and plates to use for our snacks.  One thing I found odd is there was no rinsing our glass between wines or cleansing of the palate. This is a lovely little vineyard in northern Rhode Island who's claim to fame is fruited wines. By far the most popular choice in their blueberry wine.   Upon entering be sure to notice the red light at the beginning of a narrow road.  The winery is rustic with an ample porch and lawn area.  Tastings are free if you end up buying a bottle.  Wine is also served by the glass here. Bring a picnic lunch to fully enjoy the experience.   My only negative is how quickly they run out of the blueberry wine.  I've been here on three occasions and each time the blueberry wine has been sold out More...

The shower was in the grassy yard under a white tent just outside the house. The hostess was on top of everything and brought out a variety of wines, my favorite of which was a cranberry apple. It was so light and fruity, it could get dangerous lol the food was catered by the Vineyard and was flavorful and delicious. There was a creamy pesto pasta that I couldn't get enough of. The finger sandwiches were delicious and I'm not a sandwich person. The meal was finished off with coffee and a very nice variety of desserts. Now, I'm not usually one to enjoy fruity wines but these take the cake. I almost walked home with the Cranberry Apple, but made myself promise to only purchase one bottle so I bought the Spiced Apple wine instead. DELICIOUS! It was advertised as best served hot, but MY was it good chilled! We came in on a Saturday at 3pm. It was packed in there. The owner, Claire, had three groups in front of here - each at a different pace in the tasting. Yet, she never lost her tongue. She always has something to say about the wine, the grapes, the local farmers they work with, and her passion for organic. If her presence alone was not enough to bring me back, don't even get me started on the georgeous grounds. The gardens, the vineyards, the Baby Shower taking place under the tent... If my agenda was not full I would have bought a bottle and spent the day on the porch. Needless to say, I will be back. Those who know me know I am a huge fan of wine so imagine my surprise when I discovered there is a winery right near me three exits away in Cumberland. It's called the Diamond Hill Vineyard.  This is a much smaller operation than most vineyards I frequent but it's quickly climbed to the top of my list of favorites. This a family operation and the family lives right above the tasting room. This may be the most charming home I've ever been on. So cozy and comfortable. All types of neat tchotchkes and decor. And speaking of comfortable the wine makers were there themselves Pouring the wines. Chantelle did our tasting and I reallyEnjoyed how much pride she had in her wines. Nancy is her mom and from what I understood was the one who has started the business. She was walking around saying hello and asking how the wines were. She saw I had blueberry and poured someBlackberry into it since she had some customers who enjoyed it that way.  They really make you feel like your a Visitor in their home. Oh yeah the wine. One is blueberry. It was incrediblyFresh and the flavor popped right on my tongue. The other is cranberry Apple. This one tasted like cranberry juice. Wow. If your not careful you'd forget there is alcoholIn it ! It's almost 15% so one or two glasses is plenty. Pricewise they are very reasonable. The tastings are free and a glass is six dollars if you want a whole one. They are generous with the pours too. A bottle averages around fifteen dollars which is a great price. They also have a frequent buyer card which you can get one free after ten bottles. I would highly recommend checking this place out. Support our local businessAnd enjoy good company and great wines ! my boyfriend and i happened upon this winery while making an unfortunately unexpected car trip.  trying to make the best of things, we incorporated a visit here.  what a HAPPY accident.first off, this winery is located way off the beaten path.  it is situated behind other residential properties, and you have to make it across a dirt road which, at its end, is only wide enough for 1 vehicle.  parking is on a grassy lot, and the winery itself is located within a refurbished home.  you have to travel through the back porch in order to get inside.once inside, the place was buzzing.  at about noon on a saturday, the place was packed... always a good sign!  we approached their "bar" (which is really an extension of their cashier area), and met one of the owners who was more than happy to walk us through a quick tasting of their offerings.  this tasting is free, and the portions are a touch smaller than other tastings i've been to, but, hey- it's FREE!all of the wines we sampled were delicious, but i gather that this place is known for their fruit wines.  we tasted ones that were blueberry, blackberry, and cran-apple.  the blackberry was out of this world, and i chose to buy a bottle.  my boyfriend got one of the cran-apple, which was adorned with a special holiday label and gift-wrapped.  it was a little more expensive, because of the additional accoutrement, but worth it, especially if you are doing your holiday shopping a little late.the shop offers other items, many produced in CT, and they have a fridge stocked with some cheeses and crackers if you are in need something for noshing.seating options are both inside and outside the house.  i can't say enough how charming this place was, and how picturesque the backyard is.  they advertise that the host events, and weddings for up to 200, and i'm sure they do a great job.i will saw that the owner is one of the most welcoming i've encountered during my  trips to wineries on the CT wine trail.  she knew many people by name (or by what they liked to drink), and was often pouring someone a glass of their favorite wine before they could even ask.this place is my new favorite, and we will definitely be back, especially when the weather is warmer and we can enjoy a seat on the porch. Diamond Hill came highly recommended by a local so I've been itching to check it out for weeks!  The Vineyard's visitor's area is a small farmhouse tucked away in the woods - be careful or you might drive past it.  There's a one-way road with a funky stoplight telling you when it's safe to drive (though I'm not sure it can be trusted).  The wine tastings are a little odd - you stand around a very tiny bar area and try not to get in the way of people shopping in the surrounding store as you sip your wine.  It all feels a little rushed and the staff doesn't have much to say about the wine, but they have a unique selection of reds, whites, and fruit wines and the tasting is FREEFREEFREE!  Afterwords, you can buy a reasonably priced bottle and enjoy it in the sitting room, with comfy chairs, a warm fire, and a lovely view.  They also welcome visitors bringing your own food (or they sell nibbles in their shop), so you can easily enjoy a tipsy low-cost afternoon.Diamond Hill definitely has a Rhode Island feel - it's like you stepped into someone's home and they're sitting you down to enjoy a drink.  It may not be fancy but it's cozy and inviting.  Check it out if you've got a free afternoon.
