Easy place to miss tucked in an alley off Asylum Ave downtown, but food is excellent!! We ordered the Malai Kofta and the vindaloo. Outstanding!

I have had mixed experiences here. My first experience, the tikka masala was phenomenal. It had great taste, great portions and was overall a wonderful meal. The only thing I did not like, was that the rice tasted almost like old/dirty water. My second experience here, my friend really enjoyed her meal, however we both noticed that there was not much protein/dumpling in our meals for the price. Only a few pieces of meat for $17. It also had no flavor, but the rice was better this time. The masala chai was ok, and was very small for $3. Im sad that my experiences here have been so vastly different. I may try again one more time to determine whether or not to make this a go to or not. More...

Was staying in the area and wanted a good meal for the night since it was windy and cold outside. It was a short 5 minute walk. The restaurant itself is fairly small but clean. There were two gentlemen behind the counter, one answering phone calls and the other was cooking. The gentleman answering the phone was exceptionally nice and made it a point to let us know how we could save a couple of dollars on a future purchase and we will definitely be back.I ordered the lamb roganjosh, lamb simmered in a tomato gravy. The gravy was exceptional, lots of flavor and a good consistency. There was lots of lamb in the dish itself and it was cooked perfectly. Not too salty, extremely tender. Also, the entree does come with rice. I also ordered the garlic naan which was fluffy, flavorful and warm even after a brisk walk back to my hotel in the cold. Could smell and taste the fresh garlic throughout, it was nice to dip into the gravy from the lamb roganjosh.Sorry I didn't snap any pictures, I was starving and the food was smelling too good to wait but I definitely will next time as I plan to come back here again and try something new. This is the best Indian restaurant I've been to in Connecticut.Don't be fooled by the counter ordering. The chicken curry is the most flavorful and tender chicken I have ever had. As a home chef I can tell everything is so amazingly fresh. I ordered a garden salad which was so crisp and fresh. The garlic naan amazing. We we're welcomed in and our server asked if everything met our expectations. Our second time there and the best Indian food I've had to date. And we are Indian food lovers. Please pay with cash if you can as this is a small business. More...

The quality of the food reminds me of posher Indian restaurants in San Francisco and Montreal. Hope they can find a location that lives up to the chai, pakora & chicken with curry leaves. Amazing

Some good bites, some not so good bites, and a little bit of wear and tear makes this place a go-to place. On the hunt for some tasty bites. Saw there was a lot of reviews for this indian place in hartford, so the girlfriend and I went here to give our take.Hartford isn't the nicest place for parking. We were able to find some street parking not too far away from this location, but there isn't any direct parking for this specific location. expect to walk a block or so to park and make your way to this place if you intend to go.The outside kind of looks a little worn down. Like the location was trying to be new and trendy, but never really updated or kept up with their maintenance.Going in, the owner caught me taking pictures outside. So he started giving our table a little more attention. Checking in on a table having a meal is fine, filling to-go sauce containers 3 feet away is a little much. The location is small, and they were not very busy, so there was a chance that he was bored and was just looking to be friendly. But if I am with my girlfriend, I do want to have space. The good bites, the Korma was pretty good. The Pani Puri was also pretty well done, but did require assembly which the owner was more than happy to walk us through once he saw that we didn't know how to assemble right away. The naan was kind of a letdown. The onion kulcha was weirdly lacking an onion flavor, despite the amount of tumeric-laced onions slathered in-between the naan. The Kashmiri naan kinda sounded like the Pashwari naan that I enjoy as a kind of dessert-y naan. When I quizzed the owner, he stated it was the same or similar at least. It was not. It had a load of pink coconut with specks of raisin and cardamom seeds. It kind of reminded me of the hostess snow-balls without the sweet and kind herby. Not what was expected, and kind of bleh.Despite the grievances, the food was cooked well and although there were some hiccups it wasn't for lack of trying. I did enjoy what I had, but found my experience tainted by an over-zealous owner. I would recommend ordering this place to go, and only if you really want indian and happen to be in hartford. The naan's a little underwhelming, but the curry and the street food's pretty good More...

We ordered in through Uber eats on this snowy night. The reviews that I had seen along the photographs of his restaurant looks good, so we decided to try three dishes. We got tikka masala with goat, biryani rice with chicken and paratha bread. The tikka masala was absolutely delicious, and the sauce was so flavorful. I just wanted to eat it with my spoon, as though it was soup! The rice was flavorful and seasoned properly, without being overdone or oversalted, which is very common with other restaurants I have ordered a rice dish from. The bread with soft and very flavorful also without being oversalted or over seasoned. I look forward to trying this place in person, and was very happy to have a hot and delicious meal on this cold and snowy night! More...

I'm working in Hartford this week and I wanted to visit a restaurant that was local reside going to a chain like Panera or whatever. This restaurant was nice and clean and well lit and has a halfway decent view looking down an alley in the city. The food was wonderful. I ordered chicken curry and some naan bread and wow was it delicious. Next time I'm in this area I'll definitely be stopping by again. More...

Very friendly proprietor from Nepal who happens to speak Hindi. Medium spicy is exactly what it's supposed to be - somewhere between mild and hot. Chicken and lamb were cooked perfectly. Comfort room isn't always working so don't go here for the CR . Go for the Indian/Kashmiri food. More...

Good selection of the traditional Indian faire. Nan breads are fresh warm and tasty. Samosas are ok, however the chicken curry is drowned in its own soup trying to coverup the fact they've skimped on the chicken. Very little chicken, all soup

A lover of Indian food and being from the west, I make sure to stop at as many Indian restaurants as I can when I find them. This one was a GEM! A little hole in the wall, the food was fabulous. The people are authentic and so accommodating. Lots of people doing take out, but I preferred to sit in and absorb the Indian smells and friendliness. They gave me so much I had plenty for two more days and enjoyed it as much as the first! Awesome! More...

I am surprised I've not had their food before. It was really good and I enjoyed every bite. The vegetable samosa was wrapped in a pastry filled with mashed potatoes and green peas. It is very good with their sauces or without.I was a little taken aback and was looking for the shrimp in my biryani because it was out of sight. Lol. It truly was buried in there and while I didn't count how many there was I am certain there was at least 7 or even 8 and they were large too. I'm beyond satisfied! That mango lassi.. I wish I could have had more. I'm definitely gonna order more than one next time. It's the best I've tasted from nearby restaurants yet! More...

I went with a friend based on the pic of a nice looking restaurant and 4+ stars. His chicken dish was mostly sauce and the chicken was tough/overcooked. My vegetable biriani was almost all rice and the few vegetables looked like they were from a bag of frozen peas carrots corn and string beans. All served on paper plates, you buy your bottled water and you clear your own table. The service was extremely friendly and the spices were excellent, but I was hoping for more. More...
