What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Photography is all about communication. My job as a photographer is to understand what you want to communicate and to reproduce your vision in a photograph. Sometimes my job includes clarifying or helping to form the vision.
There is a technical side of lighting, cameras, lenses...but that is secondary to the communication itself.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
The primary questions are to determine who you are, where you fit in their market, what makes you unique from your competition, what is your immediate objective, how will the photos be used to accomplish that objective, and are there other uses for the photos. And, of course, there are questions that are specific to the assignment we are discussing.
What do you love most about your job?
Every assignment presents a new set of challenges in communication objectives, budgets, people skills, lighting, time, etc. I enjoy the variety and the challenge of meeting or exceeding expectations.
What inspired you to start your own business?
There were several factors. I genuinely like people and enjoy working with them. I fell in love with the creative aspect of photography. Every assignment is different so every day is different, I never get bored. When I accept an assignment I am part of your team. I enjoy working as part of a team to accomplish a goal—this has been a lifelong pleasure—a skills that was honed by serving in the US Army with the 8th Special Forces .
Why should our clients choose you?
I am very good at what I do and I care and when I accept an assignment I always give it my all.
Photography
I can photography pretty much anything but specialize in business photography. I primarily shoot in the US but have done shoots in Mexico and Canada.
Digital Retouching
I am excellent at retouching and compositing images with photoshop.
My largest photo is 5 feet high by x 16 feet wide. It hangs in a hallway so the viewing distance close up—which means that the detail had to be perfect because the viewer can see any imperfections.
