Cupcakes to Go Go

This is a great little cup cake place. They do a great variety of flavors regularly, but also have those that they rotate through occasionally. My favorite cupcake falls in this category. The lemon cupcake is fantastic. Flavor of the cake and the icing are one of my all time favorites.  They actually maintain a list and will call you when they make them and have them in stock.  It is usually only for a few days, so don't dawdle!  I would recommend them.  My wife and i have tried many different cupcakes from here.  We did not love all of them, but that is why they make such a large variety. Absolutely love the cupcakes and the selection. I've only been twice and today I went in with my dad and talked to/ laughed with the guy working. Wish I caught his name but he's super friendly and a joy to be around. We only bought 3 cupcakes but he gave us 3 free ones to try. 12/10 would recommend this place. Tried the Sunshine State lemon cupcake. It was pretty good. It was perfectly moist and perfectly flavored. The lemon flavor wasn't overwhelming, which sometimes happens when the icing and cake are both lemon flavored. It was $3 and about normal size. My husband had the red velvet and he said it was a bit dry. My son had the strawberry and his was perfectly executed.  He said it was "delicious."  All of the cupcakes have cutesy names, but I can't recall what the red velvet and strawberry were named. Initially, we thought paying $3 for a normal size cupcake was a bit much, but this IS Edmond and the cupcakes were aesthetically pleasing; so, I'd say it's really about average. The only things that bothered me were the smell of the shop and the amount of restrictions they had on custom orders. Regarding the smell- first you're hit with a cupcake aroma, which is pleasing; but, then it's followed by the smell of wet dog, which gets stronger the closer you get to the restroom. The restroom was clean and I didn't see any animals present, so I'm not sure what that smell was about. Regarding the custom orders- the minimum order is 2 dozen, which is probably typical, but sometimes I only need 12; and if you're ordering mini-cupcakes, they only come in a few flavors (chocolate, vanilla, and one other I believe).  We would definitely go back if we wanted a cupcake to eat in that moment; however, we would go elsewhere if we needed a custom cupcake order. My mom lives in NC and ordered 2.5 dozen cupcakes for my birthday and had them delivered to my work. 6 of those cupcakes those were gluten free. I discovered this place because my SIL loves it. I have to say I kinda like it too! We've gone a few times, but during one particular time we were running late. It was pretty close to closing time, but we wanted to pick up cupcakes for the fam so we figured we would just give it a shot. We barely made it, but the guy that was there was so very nice and helped us pick cupcakes and was very patient while we picked flavors. Pretty decent cup cakes and decent prices . I've been here maybe three times Each time I enjoyed my cupcakes and my family did as well. The cup cakes are kind of small but they are a decent size for the price . The ones I get are always delicious. ***Review update: ADDING A STAR ***I should have tried the other cupcakes in my assortment before posting my review. Tried the pumpkin spice cupcake. ... it lasted a whole 20 seconds.  I could have eaten about 12 more of those. The cake was a nice spice cake, and very moist, and the cream cheese was a good, classic, cream cheese frosting. Not too sweet.  This may be a seasonal item, but try it now if you are visiting. Very good.I also tried the marked "employee favorite", red velvet cake. I'm not a red velvet fan, really. I mean, come on, it's just chocolate that is red. But this was really good. Not the same cream cheese frosting as was on the pumpkin, which I would have preferred, but very good. Cake was moist and yummy.Nutella cupcake : pass. Took another bite to make sure, and it is still less than mediocre. ************************************************************************************************************I really wish the cupcakes were better. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is simple and nice.  My kido loves looking at all the cupcakes on display and picking out exactly which one she wants ("no no no, the one with mostly BLUE sprinkles").If only the dang cupcakes were better, this place would be awesome! Now, the kids don't seem to mind the overly sweet frosting and dry dry cake. So, if you are getting cupcakes for kids who really just want to down a pound of sugar, well, winner - winner chicken dinner. However, if that is the case, the prices aren't low for a cupcake shop. So, grab a box mix and a tub of frosting and call it a day.Anyhow, I tried the Nutella cupcake. There was a hint of Nutella in the frosting. To be honest, I wish they would have just smeared a spoonful of Nutella on the cake and nixed the powdered sugar addition.  Don't mess with Nutella! The cake was a yellow cake, and incredibly dry. These aren't over sized cupcakes, and after a couple small bites I just couldn't take any more of the flavor/texture combo.  Harsh words, and I hate writing them, but it has to be said.On a more positive note, my husband really enjoys their Bricktown Brookie. Note: it's not a cupcake. It's a brownie with a cookie on top, and frosting to look like a cupcake. Apparently that is very good, and very popular. BEST IN EDMOND!!. Cupcakes to go go has the cutest little store. The girls that work there are always greeting me with smiles. Their bricktown brookies are to die for. It is a brownie with a chocolate chip cookie baked on top with frosting! My husbands favorite is the I heart PBC which is peanut butter chocolate. Usually they send out Emails with buy one get one free offers which is perfect for my whole family! I usually take my kids after school and some days they do a kids happy hour and they will give you a free juice box! My little ones just love them!! Every time I walk in it always reminds me of when I used to help my grandmother bake. They are the cheapest in Edmond but not the cheapest tasting, TRUST ME I have been to all of them in Edmond and they are the freshest tasting cupcakes! More...
