Crowdsourced Comedy

I've taken improv classes at a few different places, and few are as accessible as Crowdsourced is, financially or inclusively. For the 101 class it's only $100 for 5 weeks, which is on average over $100 less than most 101 classes. And in my opinion you get much more, not only because of the hands-on and inclusive style, but because continuing practice after the 101 class is only $5 a session, with regular opportunities to perform in local shows. Andrew, Trevor, and Craig perform with you in class, so you have the added benefit of learning with experts and also watching (and being a part of!) some great scenework that shows you how great improv can be. I took the improv 101 class from them and it was awesome! They taught all the skills in a way that I felt confident getting out there and saying what I thought of! The shows are high quality and done by improvisers who really understand what makes improv good and fun. They also do private shows for really cheap! The troupe is hilarious. They hold a show once a month at Sugar Space Warehouse. I wish they could throw more shows than once a month. I'd also highly recommend taking one of their Improv 101 classes. They present an easy step-by-step process to learn improv. I was referred by a friend to take the "improvisation 101 class" to improve my abilities handling emergency poison calls at the Poison Control Center. I am not a comedian or aspiring actor, therefore I was extremely nervous before starting the improv course. The classes provided exercises enhancing my skills in active listening, teamwork, adapting and responding during stressful moments. The course allowed me to rethink the idea of “not knowing an answer” as something that can be exciting instead of frightening. Not only did I gain valuable skills, but also made new friends who by far are the funniest people I know. I continue to practice improv with Crowdsourced Comedy, because I have improved my communication skills during interviews, presentations, patient and provider interactions, and everyday conversations. I learned (and felt) things in their Improv 101 class that I truly feel will make me better able to adapt to the challenges life throws at me - "yes, and. .."-ing is a valuable skill for avoiding the contention that life throws at us in any of our relationships. Way easy to book and work with. Did a show for my husband's 30th birthday and did a great job. They personalize toward your event and crowd.
