Over the years my wife and I have used a very competent CPA to file our taxes for us. However, with recent personal events in our lives occurring, we decided we need to use the services of an Enrolled Agent for our taxes. We also needed to find a CFP to guide us on some financial matters. Our CPA was not a CFP but he dovetailed with a CFP who was commission based. We preferred a CFP who was fee based and who we felt could offer us the best type of unbiased financial planning/guidance we were searching for.After much searching, we found Tony.  Due to my wife's and I varying work schedule, Tony was gracious to meet with us on a Saturday afternoon in April, despite his business hours of Monday thru Friday.  We met with Tony and gave him a brief synopsis of what our needs were, both for taxes and financial planning. He was very patient, asking relevant questions and explained all of his answers in an easy to understand but never in a condescending manner.  Tony was unwavering in his patience with his emails and phone calls to us since we had multiple items to accomplish in a very short amount of time to meet our tax filing deadline.   He always returned our messages  or emails in a timely manner despite his busy schedule.We live a long distance from Tony's office, yet he can accomplish many of the tasks requiring signatures, electronically.  Previously, we used to  sign physical tax forms, then mail them back to our CPA before they were e-filed.We look forward to working with Tony for many years both for our taxes and financial planning. Crossroads was recommended to me last minute by my coworker as I ran around like a headless chicken looking for a good tax guy. I originally tried to file with Turbo Tax but the numbers didn't quite add up so I figured I should go with a professional. Good thing I did as his superpowers flipped my taxes a full 360 compared to TurboTax. Tony's tax process was as easy as it gets. Have your tax files ready to upload on their portal and you can rely on them to get it done. I was surprised as I procrastinated and waited till the last Wednesday before the deadline. While I've recommended him to a lot of people in person, I have been slacking on writing Tony a Yelp review, but first off:I've looked around A LOT and Tony's fee-based services are by far more affordable than the less desirable options. There are plenty of unqualified people out there calling themselves "financial planners." Tony on the other hand is a CFP, EA (Certified Financial Planner and Enrolled Agent), and a fiduciary. I spent some time looking up why that is important so you don't have to:In order to be certified by the CFP board, your financial planner must submit to the rigorous CFP Certification process that includes education, examination, experience and ethical requirements. Tony is a fiduciary, which basically this means that Tony puts your best interests ahead of his when planning your finances and investing your money. Tony Chan is a very polite, personable, and genuine professional. He helped me to navigate the sea of financial confusion I was swimming in after graduate school. We have met a few times in person and communicated regularly via email. I trust Tony implicitly with my finances, taxes, and retirement plan. Tony is one of the best accountants I have ever worked with. He is friendly, professional, easy and outrageously accommodating. I found him on yelp, met with him and he made the whole process super easy. I met him at his office, he scanned my previous tax returns, explained his process, and then everything else was done online through a client portal. I had a dual state tax return as well as various forms to submit. My tax return was not an easy one, but he did a quick turn around and I received my returns within weeks of meeting with him. It was SUPER easy. I liked him so much, I recommended my mom and brother to him, but had asked him if he would not mind going a traditional route since my mom is elderly and would need more paper based help and explanation. Not only was he accommodating to everything I asked, he met my mom on a Saturday on his day off, he explained everything, he gave her tips for next year, and my mom was beyond happy with him. In this world of instant gratification, I am so impatient and always need things done now now now. I hate when people takes forever to reply to a message. I saw on here that Tony was a quick responder and just had to put it to the test. I messaged him with inquiries about having my tax return done and sure enough, he got back to me so quickly! I was even a little shocked.  I sent him all the documents he needed and didn't really expect it back for maybe a few days at least. Great experience. My initial office visit with Tony was quick and painless. This year my return was somewhat complicated. Tony was able to gather all the information he needed with very little time spent in his office . Recently my wife and I contacted Crossroads Planning for a financial advice regarding buying a house. We met Tony at a Starbucks Coffee. His cheerful face and friendly interaction with us was a good first impression. After listening to our case, he offered a few good ideas that had never crossed our mind before. Even though our appointment  was an evening appointment, but he was very patient and never showed any sign of being tired, and most importantly his advice was free of charge. I can't think of that many Financial Planners these days that are willing to sit down and listen to people's situation all for free. We definitely appreciate his advice and the fact that he was honest, and also took his time to follow up with us after the meeting and referring us to a real estate agent as well as a loan officer.
