Working out at CrossFit Round Lake has turned my life around. I was getting weaker and fatter as I got older. But, in the two months I have been doing CrossFit, I find myself getting stronger and thinner.

This place absolutely changed my life! I am very shy so starting at a new gym was very intimidating to me. I did their Launch Program which was an awesome jump start to getting into the classes. I have had trouble in the past sticking to a workout routine, as I'm sure a lot of people do. That has not been the case since I started going to CRL, its addicting. The coaches and people are amazing. Everyone is super welcoming and no matter if you are in great shape or just starting out the workouts are manageable/challenging, its really all about how much YOU want to push yourself. Along with crossfit they also offer spartan, olympic weightlifting, and mobility classes which are just as awesome. The coaches are all very knowledgable and want to help you be the best you can be. You can tell they love what they do. Melissa and Sam started something great here. I cannot say enough good things about this place! More...

I started this crossFit journey completely out of shape and not knowing what I was doing. I saw it on T.V. and was amazed by these athletes. I got a bar with a couple weights and attempted my first snatch. Boy was I no where near what they were doing. I thought about joining a crossfit gym to help me with my form and overall fitness but couldn't muster up the courage. I figured I would just be holding everyone back in class or just always be lost in the workouts. Than my aunt told me about CrossFit Round Lake and how they have an Introductory course. I figured this is my one shot to see what its like and not feel completely out of place. Melissa and Sam walked us all through the basic movements, constantly helping us throughout every exercise to make sure we were doing it properly but they were also ensuring that we understood why we were doing it that way. I will admit even though i felt very comfortable in that introductory class i was still nervous to start my first actual class. But i did it. my first WOD was (AMRAP 15)33 Single Unders, 22 Air Squats, 11 Pushups, Every 3 rounds complete: 150m Farmer’s Carry, 10 Alternating Hammer Curls. I thought i died, but when i could finally catch my breath I looked up and people had there hands out to high five me and say job well done. It felt great to see the encouragement everyone gave each other. From that point I knew I was hooked. 1 month in and im down almost 10 lbs but most importantly shrunk 2 inched around my waist. The Best Fitness Center Ever!I waited 6 months to write this review to give myself a chance to adjust to CrossFit and also to give this particular box (CRL) a chance to prove themselves. After 6 months, my only regret has been not joining when they first opened their doors in 2015! I've lost over 25 lbs, gained some significant strength and also have way more endurance (not to mention the friendships I've formed with both the coaches and members since joining). Here is why I think they do such an amazingly fun yet professional job of running CrossFit gym:TL;DR:Programming and Classes Offered - 10/10Coaching - 10/10Facilities/Schedule - 10/10Members/Support - 10/10Programming - CRL writes their own workout programs for CrossFit every week with smart scaling options for various levels of fitness. The designers of these programs study data, books, as well as trends to come up with an all-around fitness plan for the week. Not only this, but they also have quarterly and year-long cycles that they put us through to ensure that any skills or gains we make in certain fields don't get lost. They also offer unique classes for Spartan and Olympic Weightlifting, which are incredibly fun and specialized.I trust their programming absolutely, and for me that was the number 1 criteria.Coaches - CRL has 4-5 Level 1 (and beyond) certified coaches for CrossFit and 2-3 "adjunct" coaches that assist during the summer. I've had the pleasure to take atleast 1 class with each of their coaches and they are all incredibly good at not just running the class, but also ensuring each member gets what they need out of the class. They all have different personalities (ofcourse) but they're always focused on form,which is very important to me.Facilities, Time - Their facilities are clean, safe, and fit well within their class sizes. Besides very few instances of high attendance, items are never really in short supply, and the members are friendly enough that we can team up or share. There are several CrossFit classes offered both during the morning as well as the evenings, so people with different schedules can be accommodated. There is also a really nice running trail right along the box, making it easy to do running WODs comfortably, and there are specialized Spartan-specific training obstacles around the gym.Members, Support - Lastly, CrossFit is all about a social community. Every class, members struggle through the same grueling workout together, and we cheer and push each other through. Since my first day, people have always offered me tips, help, guidance whenever I asked. I'm now glad that I am in a position where I can pass that forward a bit as well. I've come to consider these people I work out and struggle with as friends and not just "gym buddies"! More...

I have not regretted joining CrossFit Round Lake. Sam and Melissa have made joining and my experience there so enjoyable (all the members as well). The location is great and so is facility. Every visit there they help me get better with my movements and stronger. More...

Been Cross Fitting for nearly 5 years. Definitely one of the better gyms I've experienced. Felt welcomed when I dropped in, staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. The workouts are well programmed and scaled appropriately for those who need it and lastly, has great community. Highly recommended for drop-ins or those looking to even join a gym. More...
