CREAM Concord

Today 02/05/22 I taken my family to get some ice cream at the Cream location in Napa. So we all noticed that there where only two types of cookies and nothing else. A memo was on top of the ice cream display stating that there is issues in the supply chain and thats the reason for limited supply of items. So my wife choose an item on the menu and the girl just plain out didn't understand what the order was. My wife had to point it out on the menu and this was very awkward. Then she had like attitude towards us after that point. Their options for a cup where pretty sad. My wife's cookie Sunday would not fit into anything but a plastic drink cup. The cookie that came right out of the warmer was ROCK hard. I felt pretty ripped off. The girl seemed very annoyed that she even had to work. This experience was very uncomfortable for my family and I would have to think that the manager / owner would be embarrassed if they knew how this store was being operated. On Saturday, January 30th my family and I made a visit to your Concord location. As we walked in, we noticed that there was a young girl working by herself. The line was long and she had no support. As we were standing in line, we noticed that there is a gelato location directly across the street from Cream. We were going to leave Cream and get some gelato from the business across the street because the line inside Cream was long and there was only one girl working. I asked the young girl who was working if she was alone and said she "yes". We offered to help the girl scoop ice cream that way she has some assistance, and she thanked us for the offer and said that this happens often. Hearing that we wanted to leave; however, my brother recommended that we just stay in Cream instead of leaving, that way we can give the girl working a pretty good tip for all that she is doing alone. I am very disappointed with the way Cream had this young girl working alone with no support. Not only can we see how demanding it was for her, but she was all alone. There's a safety aspect to the whole situation. Recently, a young girl in Southern California lost her life because she was working alone in a furniture store, and to see this girl alone was terrible. We can't assume that "it's a safe area" when any "safe area" has its share of bad things happening. There are numerous less fortunate people walking around the area and hanging around by Cream. The tip jar is easily visible by the register, and anyone with bad intentions can run off with it. The young girl working is easily exposed behind the counter and there is no way she can be protected. Nobody, especially a young girl should be working alone, managing a line on a Saturday afternoon where the lines are longer, and most importantly she is not protected. You could easily tell that she was exhausted. We will not be supporting Cream going forward until a shift occurs to improve the work environment for your team. I've been around the US and world looking for great ice creams, and the only word to describe CREAM Napa is "sad". I first tried to go yesterday afternoon, when the website said they opened at 2 PM; the store wasn't opened (I guess Google was more accurate). Tonight, before 8 pm (more than an hour before closing), there were 6+ customers, one apathetic server, only 7 of 24 ice cream flavors available in the empty freezers and only a few warm but overcooked chocolate chip cookie. Not even sure the scoop was 4 oz, but neither the cookies and cream or cookie were memorable. While there aren't many ice cream options in Napa, perhaps the better option is to just wait till you get back to San Francisco if you want a warm cookie premium ice cream sandwich and go to Baked Bear. Oh. My. Gosh. I've been going to CREAM for the past two years now, but I can now confidently say that they really do deserve their title. I had two of their new seasonal flavors, pumpkin spice and apple to my pie, and ahhhhh!!!!! The pumpkin spice was my favorite, and probably will be for a long time (comes second to matcha). The ice cream was so, so, so creamy. It was soft, and somehow didn't melt right away. It probably took me a solid 20 minutes to finish both scoops and it was somehow still in its amazing, gooey texture. This place has a giant padlock on the only open door, I am assuming for employee amusement.  It's clean, beautiful and the ice cream is not bad. The employees wear gloves but adding topping the press the topping into the ice cream, makes me wonder if they handled money or a mop with those gloves. Terrible customer service. One of our party of 3 was served a double scoop and then we wanted two cookies to go.  The server walked away after handing the ice cream to one of our party. The reason they walked away was a customer who had a pick up came in and the order was not ready.  The was another employee on the phone who told the employee to fill the pre-order.  The server started filling that order and told us we would have to wait; it was a large order. The other employee in the shop never looked up from the phone.  I left payment for the part of the order on the counter and walked out.  It was at that point the server looked up and shouted at us we needed to pay.  The other employee on the phone pointed at the money on the counter as we left. We heard this shop was amazing from a few friends so we made sure to fit it into our vacation trip to Napa. We came in around 7:30 pm and were the only customers. There were 2 employees at the time. The guy working was nice and started making my husbands shake and he asked the girl working to come help me. I wish he hadn't. She made me feel so uncomfortable. I asked for cookies and was going to also get a shake. She was so impatient and rude that I just wanted to leave. She treated me as if I were annoying her for just being there. Nice product but the staff were so rude I couldn't believe it. I just left 5 minutes ago - the 2 girls that are currently working are very unhelpful, I simply asked some questions about if there were common milkshake combinations or any kind of suggestions they had but they just shrugged their shoulders and said "you can just order whatever you want" . .. that wasn't my question... obviously I have that choice. Well since they were out of like 17 of the main ingredients including cookies and many of the ice cream flavors and the staff was pretty much apathetic and rude and 12 years old it was not great. We were in the area and wanted desserts, so we decided to get ice cream sandwiches.  I got a Cookie Sundae (I.e., one cookie, one scoop of ice cream & two toppings).  I always always love their Butter Sugar Cookie!  It's so good, buttery, sweet, chewy, it's one of my favorite cookies ever.  For the ice cream we opted for the sinful cinnamon, which was great.  For the toppings we went for Reese's pieces and Oreos.  Yeah we were really going for a mishmash of different flavors, lol:  buttery, cinnamon-y and peanut buttery.  It was intentional though and it was delicious!!! I would avoid ordering via door dash.  Our order of ice cream cookie sandwiches arrived without the cookies (they let us know after charging us that they were out of cookies) so they sent the ice cream without the cookies (two flavors in one plastic cup) which arrived totally melted into a liquid mess ).  No answer on the phone and door dash has no explanation.  Maybe they are better in the store. I ordered an ice cream sandwich and the lady asked me if I want the cookies warmed up. I told her no, but I probably should have warmed them up. Here's why: the room temperature cookies were rock hard. They were probably made 2 days ago, maybe previously frozen, or they were really stale from being left out all day. When I bit into my ice cream sandwich, I didn't actually bite the cookies. Instead, I pushed the two cookies together with my teeth until they touched, which caused ice cream to flatten and fall out of the sandwich. Next time I will ask them to warm up the cookies so that they could get as soft as an Oreo next time. Anyways, we also ordered a sundae and it came with two small scoops of ice cream, fudge and a topping. There was plenty empty space in the cup. The lady left out the whipped cream and cherry. We asked for the whipped cream and she said it was considered an additional topping. Then we were confused because there was a sign next to her that said that the Sundae came with one topping AND whipped cream. She added the whipped cream, no problem, but shouldn't you know the recipes for everything, especially something as simple as a sundae. Overall, service was kind of slow. I've been to the location in Berkeley many times and the location in Fremont a handful of times, so I wasn't expecting it to take as long as it did. I also wasn't expecting hard cookies. I wasn't expecting less ice cream in my sandwich or in the sundae. I expected the price to go up because of inflation, but not as much as it did. Last time I got an ice cream sandwich I paid $2.50. Today I paid $5. So long story short, I spent more and got less bang for my buck. I won't be coming back to this location because the quality is not on par with previous experiences at other locations. It's very disappointing. I was super excited to try Cream for the first time. I had walked past the location in Walnut Creek location and they always have a line out the door. This location was empty when I walked in. The two people working were very friendly! I got an ice cream sandwich on chocolate chip cookies and the ice cream was delicious, but the cookies were rock hard and impossible to bite into. Oh Cream! How do I love thee? Let me count the waaaays. Mm, mm, mmm! Cream is one of the few ice cream chains that I truly adore. Their consistency is what gets me just about every single time. Not only is their ice cream delicious, but the customer service is just stellar. Speaking of their ice cream, it really IS cream-y! HA! You see what I did there?! But honestly, for an ice cream chain, this place has some amazing ice cream. I love the variety of flavors that are always available, and I also love that I can get a host of different ice cream concoctions from donut ice cream sandwiches to cookie sundaes to those lovable milkshakes. The variety is pretty insane. I will live and die by their milkshakes. Lately I've been stuck on their cookie ice cream sandwiches and cookie sundaes, but their milkshakes are fair game. They're always so thick and creamy. And by the way, their COOKIES are so damn good. Shoutout to that white chocolate chip macadamia nut! Oh yeah... you're the real MVP. Low key addictive. Never written a review about this place. However, I went yesterday for probably the 3rd time since it opened. Every time I've gone, the service has been terrible for some reason or another. Then yesterday, I go, stand in the line for 20 minutes with my kids. Finally get in, the girl tells me they can't make shakes because they don't have milk, no cookie dough, no rocky road and the list goes on of everything they're out of. If the person running this place cared, they would go to Raleys and buy a few gallons of milk for shakes. Where does one start! Just don't go! Even the surrounding stores looked us crazy, when we said it was one of our stops. Cookies hard as rocks & waffle had absolutely no flavor. I've worked in customer service, and i understand sometimes you run out of things towards the end of the night. But it's a lil sus when you don't have the milk for a milkshake 4 days in a row when i came each day earlier and earlier in hopes that the issue was coming to close to closing. CREAM spells YUMMY!CREAM in Todos Santos Plaza is amazing. You can have ice cream and walk around the park. You can walk off the ice cream after having it. The service at CREAM is friendly. They are willing to give customers suggestion on what to have.This location can attract crowds. Don't bother if you bought a Concord local gift card. The incompetent employees don't know how to run them (even though instructions are literally right on the paper) and I ended up having to use my credit card to make our purchase, rendering our local gift cards unused. I kept telling her exactly what to do, to no avail. Now I am out the money I spent on the gift card and extra money I was NOT planning to spend there. If they were planning to participate in the local gift card program, you would think they would train their staff how to do a simple purchase? I even left a 20% tip, but I don't know why. Hubby and I have tried CREAM in many locations but this is first time we decided to try the vegan products they had to offer.  We are not vegans but wow we definitely loved the cookies and surprisingly the ice cream was so good too. We both agreed that the vegan cookies were softer than the regular cookies we have had in the past from CREAM. My order was the vegan banana bliss cookie with soy strawberry and hubby got the vegan oat maple spiced cookie with soy mint chocolate chip.  We each liked our orders and tried each other's and we like them too!  Wow is all I can say we were very impressed and totally made up for what we had for lunch which I will not go into details here.  The gal helping us was very sweet and made sure to let us know of all the vegan choices including toppings which we both declined.   I would not mind coming back for more of the vegan stuff in the future.
