Great classes and a great trainer - thanks for making it so enjoyable Collin! Murphy loves it and we look forward to it every week!

I took the basic puppy class and loved it! As a new puppy parent I was anxious about learning how to read my puppy and other puppies too, Collin really helped ease that anxiety. He explained everything in an easy way and really showed us step by step what to do to be the most successful. He was great with all of my questions and made the class fun for the puppies and the humans! I recommend this program to everyone who says "omg your dog is so well behaved!" -Which is literally everyone we meet! I'm going to continue with every class we can take! Highly highly highly recommended! More...

Three months ago I imported two ten week old Briards from the Czech Republic. After a thirty hour journey, cramped in a plastic travel crate, they arrived at Philadelphia International Airport, late in the evening, tired, thirsty, hungry and, as any babies would be, uncertain and disoriented. I am happy to report, that was the end of their ordeal, for early the next morning Collin Roche came onboard to begin molding their first steps towards becoming psychiatric service dogs. At that time I did not know Collin well, so my expectations were reserved and, frankly, unfounded. Yet within the first hour, his young charges were following him, off lead, zig-zagging in small circles across an adjacent field. He worked with the puppies daily and in short matter they were responding to recalls, sitting with eyes focused on his, moving forward and halting, not ‘on command” but in harmony with a leader deftly engaged in play.

I imagine, most dog owners know, there are innumerable systems and theories of behaviorally based training techniques purported to give the quickest and most reliable results. I have bred and trained dogs for forty years and have followed many of them. However, what I observed over the past three months, were results achieved, not by bending or forcing the puppies to change their natural uninhibited puppy instincts, but rather a kind cultivation of these instincts so the puppies “choice” becomes the outcome he wished to achieve. This is an observation which barely explores Collin’s skills. Every day I learn things, by demonstration but equally through Collin’s clear and cogent explanations of the “why” of his techniques.

If you are considering using a trainer to lay the foundation of years of harmony with your canine friend or if your dog needs help reestablishing or overcoming disruptive, stress-creating behavior, I would jump at the chance to turn your pet over to his uniquely gifted hands.

I contacted Collin after bringing home my little Iris. She showed a lot of behaviors I didn't have experience with, and Collin's style of training has been working fantastically. She's showing so much progress! I would recommend Collin to anyone with a new puppy or a older dog. More...

I recently took the focus and function class with my dog and it was fantastic. Collin is so encouraging and has taught me so much in the last six weeks about how to better work with my dog. We are looking forward to taking more classes with Courageous Canines soon. More...
