It's going on three years I've seen Maria and she's grown to be one of my favorite people I've met in life hands down. Not only does she create magic each time she touches my brows, we have the best of conversations. Time literally flies when's she's doing my brows. The music selection is always bomb. The conversations, funny & relatable. The room always smells like peace- like if peace and relaxation and carefree had a smell, it's in her room. Then most importantly, can't stress this enough my brows are point blank the best thing on my face. They honestly don't get enough credit from people. I literally get offended when people don't notice and say something about my brows, it's rude . I kid. Although, a little down the left ventricle I do get slightly offended because my brows, in my opinion, are the best thing this month. This review is for Maria Brito!  Excellent eyebrow shaping.  She'll be my new go-to moving forward.  She's patient and highly skilled -- my appointment lasted about half an hour (when was the last time you had a 30 minute brow appoint? )!  She's not in a rush to get a ton of clients in and out.  She truly cares about the end result.  As an fyi, her schedule is limited -- she's only at this location Wednesday and Saturday.  She's in NYC on Mondays. I've been seeing Peggy for acupuncture for 6 months now. She really is a special person who radiates light, calmness, and healing and my treatment has been life changing. The initial issues I went to her for have been addressed and I now see her every two weeks for what I consider "life maintenance". We'll start each session with a brief catch up and what we'll focus on, whether it's just grounding or stress relief or if there's a particular physical or spiritual point to address. The fact that Cornerstone accepts insurance is a huge bonus, though I would come here even if my visits weren't covered. The treatment is that important to me. I really love this place. More...

I've been coming to Cornerstone for over a year and Dr. Mok has changed my life. With my monthly acupuncture visits, she has tackled many of my issues with much love and care. She always asks how I currently am and what needs to be tackled or tweaked. The office is tranquil, clean and run efficiently. I cannot recommend Dr. Mok and her practice enough. Dr Peggy Regis Robinson is a terrific acupuncturist and true healer. She has been able to help me with fatigue, skin problems, arthritis, and anxiety.  I have been to many acupuncturists over the years, and I would certainly recommend Peggy. I am particularly impressed with how she has helped my skin, because many acupuncturists have not been able to help. The office is comfortable and reasonably priced for great care. Anne Mok is a great acupuncturist and all-around health care provider. She approaches health issues with a good balance of Chinese and Western medicine and she always makes sure to see the big picture of what's going on with you health-wise. I highly recommend her!

I had my first ever acupuncture treatment at Cornerstone Healing five months ago, and have gone for treatments every week since. Anne Mok is an amazing healer who immediately puts me at ease. She is a compassionate practitioner who provides holistic care; giving me great advice on diet, stress management, stretching and exercise, etc... I have several stubborn health issues and have definitely seen an improvement in my symptoms over time. I also look forward to my Friday evening sessions as a way to clear out all of the stress and tension that has built up over the week. I went to Cornerstone Healing because it was a short walk from my job and I was in vital need of a massage to start off the New Year. Wanting to treat myself to some relaxation, I made an appointment with Erin Smith for a massage.For a first impression, the interior of Cornerstone is very cool and relaxing, even the reception area has a tranquil feel to it. My massage practioner Erin was very skilled and knowledgable. She inquired in detail about my back and spinal issues and was thorough in her questions. It wasn't rushed and Erin seemed like she really wanted to get to the root of my problem and figure out an appropriate treatment.The room in which I received my massage was beautiful. It was luxurious and definitely the best room I had ever had a treatment in. It even smelled relaxing! Erin was very thorough in asking me questions pertaining to my back pain and spinal issues. My massage was wonderful, and a great way to begin the New Year! My neck pain was alleviated and my posture improved. I have been coming to see Anne for acupuncture at Cornerstone Healing for the last 8 years.  She has helped me work through a variety of injuries, running, triathlon, and cycling related. Cornerstone Healing is a wonderful experience. Reception is friendly and accommodating. I've seen Dr. Anne Mok, Dr. Peggy Robinson and Jackie. They are all amazing. I've been going to acupuncture to help with chronic migraines and crohn's disease. Jackie always has new and helpful tips at the end of the session to help with my flare ups. I want to respond very briefly to a couple negative comments that focus on Anne Mok's style, which apparently some patients found to be problematic. I appreciated what I consider Anne's refreshing approach of struggling with patients to do better, to think harder, to put in some work including at times enduring some discomfort in acupuncture treatments. This is medicine, not recreational massage (here I'm speaking of the treatments I got from Anne, not other services at Cornerstone which I haven't used and can't comment on but apparently do include relaxing massage). Frankly there were times when I went in for treatments pretty subjective and not in the best position to rationally evaluate the treatment I needed. At those moments, there would be some tension between what I needed, and what I felt like doing. Good for Anne for struggling with me! If I had questions about or disagreements with anything Anne said or did, believe me I spoke up. I always got thoughtful, respectful answers, and always felt encouraged to question, disagree, and dialog on my treatment. I consider these very positive, valuable attributes. More...

For my first review of 2014, it's fitting that I'm hyping the place that has helped transform me into a new woman! I came here after struggling with chronic back pain and beginning an acupuncture regimen at the Brooklyn Acupuncture Project, located nearby in Gowanus. Though I LOVE what the BAP is doing for my community, and especially for the insurance-deprived, I am fortunate enough to receive insurance coverage (and thus similar prices) at Cornerstone, so I go there. For those that are considering acupuncture and are looking at both, here's the breakdown: At BAP, I may receive treatment from a different practitioner each time, in a not-so-private-room -- and though I don't necessarily mind stripping down to my skivvies behind a sheet, the snoring from the guy next to me can sometimes harsh my zen. Meanwhile, at Cornerstone, I get a cush private room, a fierce back-cracking and a nearly-lethal massage from the talented Anne Mok every time I go. Most importantly, I receive really interesting information and lots of compassion from Anne each time, which have expanded my awareness of my body and mind in ways I had not experienced before my back injury. Thus, I would highly recommend her for acupuncture newbies, as she will freely offer up information that's well-grounded in medical expertise, helping you to prevent and understand your pain, not just temporarily relieve it. And when you've got an injury that's likely standing between you and the previous happy-go-lucky life you led before the injury came along, that kind of empowerment alone is worth the trip, even without the insurance discount.But seriously, if your insurance covers this place, GO. Even if you're just in need of a "tune-up," a stop-in with Anne to straighten yourself out is a great idea for anyone who works at a computer, takes the train, slogs around with a big bag... which probably describes you, eh? After  limping for over a year, with lots of pain due to arthritis, I was told the only solution was fusion therapy - poor prognosis for this surgery and months of not being able to walk.    I was then told by another doctor to try acupuncture.  My daughters rave about Anne Mok and, within two sessions I was walking without a limp, by three sessions the pain was gone. Dr. Annie Mok is a miracle worker, no kidding. I've been seeing Annie for several months. Initially I went in for help with persistent tendonitis in my elbow, after being told by a Manhattan orthopedist (who sent me for an x-ray) to take four Alleves a day for three months. For many reasons, I didn't want to pursue this course of "treatment." Annie was able to treat my elbow and return it to normal with no drugs. This week, I woke up with excruciating pain in my shoulder and went straight in to Cornerstone. In two treatments (over the course of 48 hours) I went from being unable to lift my arm to being completely pain free with 95% of my mobility restored. Annie knew exactly what the problem was and used acupuncture and body work  to solve it -- no X-rays or drugs needed!My experience at Cornerstone has been wonderful and I would whole heartedly recommend Annie Mok for whatever ails you. I don't know how I managed to live in the neighborhood without ever venturing into Cornerstone Healing before now. I've had some annoyances with arthritis in my back for the last few years, and that combined with asthma and work-related stress inspired me to give acupuncture a shot at the suggestion of a friend. Annie very patiently discussed all of my symptoms with me, and spent a lot of time explaining what she thought was going on with my situation (even called me out on some symptoms I hadn't listed because I didn't think they were related, but she was spot-on). The acupuncture itself was surprisingly relaxing, and as some of the other reviewers mention, it was followed by very firm massage (which wasn't unexpectedly firm or painful, and I have confidence that Annie knows what she's doing unlike the free-stylin' nail salon technicians I usually trust with massage).  After my first acupuncture session I felt like I could run a marathon; totally not the physical reaction I was expecting. Annie's advice has changed my daily routine and I'm so thankful that I finally made the time to try this out. Also, I have crrrrrazy sensitive skin (psoriasis, rosacea, you name it) and Jenny at Cornerstone gave me the best facial I've ever had, magically removing all of the redness from my face! I came here after having terrible issues with a strained nerve on my spine - it's a bit of a chronic problem that comes up every year or so and the doctor  just says to stretch it out and take pain killers. So, not really wanting to take pain killers I decided to give Acupuncture a try. Peggy worked on me for 6 sessions and she is amazing. Seriously worked magic on my neck. The first sessions were hard since I was in such pain but with the acupuncture and massage it loosened up. Over the next sessions I felt better and better. What was so great about Peggy was that she could tell exactly where the pain was coming from without me having to tell her and worked that area and other areas of my body that had correlation to the pain (I think they are called channels).Peggy also didn't push me to see her a lot - I would have come every other day if she told me to but she would say "wait a week and then make another appointment". She has the touch and runs the facility in between a beautiful spa and a high end doctors office.Highly recommend for massage, acupuncture and probably anything else they provide. Cornerstone Healing is an AMAZING oasis in the city. I've gotten acupuncture with Peggy about 4 times now and she is great. She's really calming and nurturing, and she knows her stuff. I was surprised how unpainful it was. The space itself is very clean, with soft music, and a healing aura. I always leave feeling really relaxed and 100 times better than when I walked in! Highly recommend :) And depending on what insurance you have, you can get them to cover acupuncture and only pay a co-pay AKA it's really cheap!! More...

I love Cornerstone Healing. I have been seeing Anne since my 5 1/2 year old twins were only a half :) I was totally broken and unable to care for the girls and Anne fixed me. An oasis in the desert is what I found Cornerstone Healing to be. I came upon it completely by chance when I was walking through Caroll Gardens looking for some relief to the back pain I was suffering. From the moment I walked in, the serenity of Cornerstone allowed me to feel at ease. Cornerstone Healing in Carroll Gardens is an amazing place of healing.  They offer Acupuncture, Bodywork and Traditional Chinese Medicine.  The environment is very warm, relaxing and immaculately clean.  Peggy Regis is extremely talented and has provided me with a great amount of care and attention during my visits.  While some places tend to get you in, then get you out as fast as they can, Cornerstone Healing actually cares about your wellbeing and takes their time when treating you.  Peggy has made every effort to educate me in the different processes and instruments she is using.  I truly recommend Cornerstone Healing to anybody who is going to have an acupuncture treatment done.cornerstonehealing.net/i… More...
