For puppies 8-12 weeks old
Entry-Level Class. $125 for 4 sessions

With young puppies, the pressing items on the agenda are: handling, handling and handling, safe socialization with people, bite inhibition, teaching household manners (where to eliminate, what to chew, when to shush), and preparing your pup for being left at home alone, i.e., preventing separation anxiety, so that your young pup grows up to be a confident, good-natured and well-behaved adolescent. All of this must be addressed prior to three months of age. Additionally, you’ll learn how to teach Come, Sit, Down, Stay etc.) because it’s so easy and just so much fun.

The Puppy Kindergarten Curriculum is ongoing with four sequential sessions: A. Household Training, B. Puppy Biting and Handling, C. Manners and Safety Training, and D. Safe Socialization. Because of the extreme urgency to get going with young puppies, you may start the course at any session, e.g., start with Session C and continue through Sessions D, A and B.

For dogs 12-18 weeks old

Learn how to teach basic off-leash manners — Come, Sit, Settle, Down, Stand and Stay. Teach your pup Impulse Control and Polite Greetings while socializing your puppy to people and other dogs. CDT emphasizes preventing common and predictable behavior and temperament problems such as, puppy biting, mouthing, jumping up, hyperactivity and pulling on leash.

Classes focus on user-friendly and dog-friendly training techniques, so that classes are as much FUN for owners as they are for puppies. As well as being enjoyable, our training techniques are quick, easy and effective, yet well within the capabilities of all family members, including children. In fact, we gamify most training.

Aquire the skills necessary to introduce your puppy to other dogs and people (both off-leash and on-leash), so that they thoroughly enjoy the company of all kinds of folk, especially children, men and strangers. Again, emphasis will be placed on ensuring your young adolescent maintains bite inhibition and remains socialized and friendly to people and other dogs.

Private Training can be tailored to best suit your needs, your family, your home, and your pup! The first step in booking a Private Training series is to schedule an Initial Behavioral Assessment which is done at your home.

The Initial Behavioral Assessment and Training Session is 90 minutes, this session alone is very in-depth and will answer many of your questions. If after the assessment you feel your pup would benefit from additional private training sessions or board and train we can book accordingly.

Prior to scheduling all Board and Train Packages, your dog must first be assessed at your home. If you are an existing client, you have already completed this step.

Our board and train program allows for in-depth training at its most intensive level. Companion Dog Training’s Board and Train program is designed to teach obedience skills while also addressing behavioral problems. Due to the immersive nature of the board and train program, clients must be carefully selected to make certain they have the time, patience, and commitment to reinforce and maintain their dog’s training.

During your pup’s time in the CDT Board and Train program they will enjoy off-leash training in the home during the day, visits to our private on site dog park during the morning and afternoon, time relaxing in the den during the evening, and then spend the night sleeping in separate crates in our doggy dormitory. Board and Train dogs are not kenneled during the day allowing for off leash training in a home environment most similar to their own, this is where behavioral issues are best addressed. Our doggy dormitory is a large (900 square foot), air conditioned and heated building attached to our home, where someone is always present to care for your furry family member.

CDT is excited to partner with High on Kennels for the 3rd year to bring high quality and effective rattlesnake aversion training to North County San Diego. High On Kennels has been providing rattlesnake avoidance training for over thirteen years now, their rattlesnake training has been featured in the San Diego Union Tribune, News 8 and Channel 10 news.

High On Kennels uses live rattlesnake specimens that have been neutralized so that they cannot bite. The snakes are placed out in a field setting and the dogs are fitted with an electronic training collar, the dog is led through the field and allowed to encounter the rattlesnakes at which point the dog is stimulated using the electronic collar, The process is repeated several times to ensure that the dog understands the sight, sound and smell of a rattlesnake (rattlesnakes have a distinctive odor that a dog can discern from other snakes). We have found that some dogs seem to forget over a period of time and therefore annual training is recommended for all dogs.
