OMG! Last week, Michelle and I found the greatest place for lunch! Because The Best of the Springs came out in last Sunday’s Gazette, I always pour through the restaurant section looking for new places to try. I was attracted to the space ad they had in the publication as well as all the different categories where they were either Gold, Silver & Bronze award winners. As a graphic designer myself, their logo was very well designed and professional. When looking at their menu online, I was thrilled with the wonderful selection of the high quality ingredients listed. As a die hard mustard lover, I was excited by the fact that they also offered fresh soft pretzels with a flight of mustard varieties. I know that many breweries offer beer flights. Not being a beer person, a flight of mustards sounds sooooo much more tasty to me. And it was! They asked whether I preferred spiciness in my mustards or sweetness. I immediately replied that I like sweetness. So my flight was customized for me. This wonderfully delightfully decorated mustard restaurant also offers a wide variety of jarred and bottled mustards from a very wide variety of US and International mustard creators. We also did an order of Mac & cheese, very, very decadently rich. You can also order the Mac & Cheese with Lobster! As rich as it is without, I can well imagine the lobster variety will put one into a gourmet coma! We also did a side of their mustard potato salad. It was very tasty with just the right amount of mustard. They offer a soup of the day and sandwich of the day. Michelle did their PABST (their version of a BLT) and remarked how hearty the slices of bacon were and cooked just right. I opted for their Turkey sandwich also I asked to hold the bacon as I’m not a bacon consumer. Both sandwiches were huge and beautifully prepared. My other half sits in my fridge for tomorrow. The most remarkable menu item we were lucky enough to try a sample of was their Mustard Ice Cream!! It was most unexpectedly delicious! It had somewhat of a salty/sweet taste. It reminded me of a salted caramel flavor but with the slight tang of mustard. It was delightful! And, though I love mustards, this ice cream is not overly mustard-y!!! It has a subtle uniqueness that would surprise your dinner guests. The owner’s own mustard collection adorns one wall. They have a cooler for purchasing containers of soup and some of their desserts. Drinks come from bottles (tea, sodas, and more) in the cooler. They have created a nice little patio dining area out back with clear views of the Peak, Garden of the Gods, and more. We found the entire visit and dining experience to be charming as well as delicious. They close at 4pm. They also offer catering and we were shown the lovely presentation of sandwiches they had prepared for a catered event. It was beautifully presented and looked delicious. I think this would be a fun place to have cater your fall event in tandem with a brewery for your own home (friends & family) Oktoberfest! I cannot recommend this restaurant more! I will definitely be visiting on a regular basis. I finally retired from driving to the west side of town three years ago! Now that gas is $4 and more/gallon, looks like I will be now making a regular commute to Colonol Mustards at 1419 21st Street to get their food on a regular basis. Ordered sandwiches to go (some hot) and rode up Pike’s Peak for a great picnic. Our hot sandwiches were still hot. Great customer service and great food!

This is my husband and I’s favorite place for lunch dates. Everything we’ve eaten here is delicious and fresh. The staff is always super nice and helpful and the atmosphere is amazing. We love sitting in the back outside area during summer and enjoying the views and peaceful energy. More...
