1. Engagement photos.
My (now) husband and I were fighting the day of our engagement photos. Colleen’s positive attitude was exactly what we needed to calm our edge. In the end, we produced stunning photos. All thanks to Colleen's calming demeanor.
2. My boudoir photoshoot.
When I decided to do a boudoir shoot, I knew I needed a photographer who was going to make me comfortable and not judge me. Again, Colleen's warm personality made me feel so relaxed. She reminded me how beautiful I was and told me how much my husband was going to love it (and he did!). I didn't feel judged at all, and the shoot just felt like me being silly with a friend. One of my favorite photos was an outtake of me laughing at something Colleen said. I ended up giving a canvas print of it to my husband for our one-year anniversary.
3. Colleen photographed a wedding I was in.
Colleen was incredible. She got stunning photos of the dress, rings, shoes, veil, etc. She even surprised the bride with a second photographer. What made Colleen GREAT is that she was so organized and professional. She had a designated order for family photos. She knew exactly where to pose everyone so that a process, that would otherwise become quiet lengthy and chaotic, ran seamlessly. She took into account fussy children and disabled grandparents. Colleen knew the names of the wedding party and all parents involved. Everything she did was SO PERSONAL. She stayed much longer at the reception than most photographers, capturing some beautiful (and hilarious) moments for the couple.
Bottom line: Colleen Schmidt goes ABOVE AND BEYOND any photographer I've ever met because she truly LOVES what she does. You can honestly tell that she wants to capture the couple's beautiful moments together and she puts that above everything. We had Colleen photograph our wedding after she photographed a friends wedding the year before. Watching her work was fascinating, she really put a lot of effort into getting the angles needed etc. My only real complaint is that I am a larger woman and she didn't seem to know all the most flattering angles to catch at my best. Almost all of our photos are gorgeous, just a select few, if taken at a higher angle or with her body positioned a different way, or having her pose me differently may have turned out a little more flattering. Colleen shot both my engagement pictures and my wedding last weekend. She is easily one of the warmest, friendliest people I have ever met and has a way of truly making you feel at ease. I hate having my picture taken, but Colleen works earnestly to ensure you're comfortable and to capture timeless, flattering shots. My family and friends had nothing but great things to say about her, and her second shooter, at our wedding, noting how she managed to be EVERYWHERE but not in your way at all, all at the same time. Colleen is professional, attentive, and goes way beyond the call of duty. She even came to our rehearsal to snag some shots, and played a huge part in keeping me calm the day of the wedding.
