We were looking for a different place to eat Saturday night and 2686 did not disappoint. We arrived around  6:30 PM and was pleasantly surprised that it was quiet and not packed with customers  (maybe because it was nearing Christmas). Decor and seating was nice - a mix of booths and tables in one large room. Our server was Rachel who really made our dining experience special. Food was good and Rachel was excellent. We were celebrating Mom's birthday and that she passed her drivers test that day. Our meals were skirt steak salad, salmon salad, and the cheese and  chicken sandwich. Fav was the skirt steak salad. Dessert was amazing butterscotch cookies and a scoop of ice cream. Prices are reasonable and portions adequate. Would like to see them expand  the menu with more items and some  without chorizo. This place is a gem!! I can't believe it's not all the rage for our quaint little Ventura! Â The food is great! The food is real! ! The food is tasty! What more could we want When I eat there I do a happy dance in my chair! Never disappointed. We recently had our holiday there and ALL the food was served at the same time time, hot and exactly as ordered. The wait staff are very nice, accommodating and available. To top it off, they didn't change gratuity in advance and accepted our coupons. Y'all gotta go!!! The cherry on top was that their desserts are all home made from scratch and delicious!!! Hurry! This is a very casual spot, very good for lunch. However, we arrived for dinner and it is still a great spot for dinner. Most remarkable was the crativity of the menu....although the menu will still please the most traditional and picky palates, the unique twist of most items is enough to excite the hard-to-impress. Service was also top-tier, along with reasonable prices. A must stop for locals and travelers alike! More...

Taqueria Tepatilan was recommended by a friend soon after I moved to town last year and is my favorite restaurant in Ventura for Mexican. Every time I go, I struggle over what to get, because everything I've had has been so good. The fish tacos, chicken mole special, and the carnitas burrito are all personal favorites. The micheladas are not to be missed. I also tried a watermelon mimosa this past weekend and it was perfect and refreshing. The staff is always super friendly, attentive, and accommodating and the meal never disappoints. Great family-owned restaurant that I will be going to for many years to come. More...

I went here with my aunt on a Wednesday night at 5. It was quiet when we walked in but soon became loud and packed with families with kids. The happy hour is nice for the $5 margaritas and beers on tap. I ordered the blue burger. It had really nice flavor and was cooked nice and medium rare. But the bacon was in a huge chunk and I wasn't sure what I was biting into until I took it out and had to eat this piece of thick cut bacon with my burger. The fries where really tasty. They were cooked well, they had texture to them while being crunchy and soft.My aunt order the build your own pizza and salad. This was a much better deal for the money for the amount of food. Maybe it's just me but my burger was kind of small. But it was a nice thick patty, almost home-made like.Overall I think this spot was really good, but I think other spots will get you more food for your money, maybe we just ordered the wrong things. WE LOVE THIS PLACE!! Whenever our family  members come visit us we spend our Saturday afternoon here. The small oysters, (I forgot what they are called), are out of this world. We recently tried to oyster tacos, super good!! We usually bring our hot sauces, but the sauces they provide with the oysters are super yummy themselves. Make sure to bring extra napkins and hand sanitizer, they get messy! Only reason for the 4/5 stars is that 3 out of 4 of us got a little sick after going last time. More...

This restaurant is fast-becoming my favorite place for Mexican food. Â The people are not only friendly, but the family engaging and likeable, and love to please. Â The restaurant itself is accomodating, with one side for family, which includes TVs; and the other side a full bar and TVs. Â The food is authentic and from generations. Â The chips are real and not packaged, the flour torillas homemade. Â Everywhere I looked, people were eating good. Â I'm on the vegetarian side, and they have the best rellanos in town. Â One is plenty, trust me. And I'm a big guy. Â The food is hot, spicey and flavorful, and with an eye-watering touch of authenticity. Â Great service, great food, great ambiance. Good drinks. Great people. And they are Dodger and Ram friendly. Â 5 star. No question. More...

Starting this off by giving a special s/o to Rachel who organized this UYE. A success, per usual. A group of us met up for dinner this past Tuesday. They had the corner organized just for us. Our reservation was right when their happy hour had just ended, but they gave us a complimentary appetizer. I want to say it was cheese pizza with sautéed onions. Whatever it was, it was great. Paired with it was some type of  red sauce. They were perfect together. We were also given an assortment of pickled vegetables. Quite interesting indeed. I started off with the Fresa Margarita. It was very refreshing. A perfect summer drink. I moved on to the 2686 Margarita. Equally good, but I prefer the first one for sure. Food orders:Beef empanadas - my goodness, the goodness. The chimichurri that came with it was perfect. Bacon mac n cheese - perfection - this was certainly the crowd favorite since half the table ordered one Fried chicken sandwich - good Unfortunately, by the time I got to my entrée I had had so much of the appetizers that I couldn't even finish half of my plate. Everything I was able to try was delicious, drinks included. I'd just like to also point out how great the service was. Everyone there on Tuesday night were all so nice. Thanks for having us.See you guys next time. p.s. I took home what I didn't finish and ended up having the best lunch at work the next day. More...

2686 Kitchen is on Loma Vista across the parking lot from the 99 cent Store. They're where the Spaghetti Factory used to be. Â All comparisons stop there. The light, open interior has been very nicely renovated. Along one wall is a full service bar. Â There are several interesting specialty cocktails on the menu, and all sampled by our party were given rave reviews! Â I had the happy hour house Pinot Noir ($5). Delicious. The house Cab less so...but still good.I ordered the beef empenadas with house made chimichuri sauce ($8 for 3, listed as an appetiser, but a meal by itself!) and house marinated olives ($5). My wife had the Naan bread grilled cheese (without the chicken)- $12 with a side (she chose the Mac 'n' cheese). In addition, we sampled the house pickled veggies (excellent) Â chimichuri fries and cheese/grilled onion pizza bites with marinara dipping sauce. All were very good to excellent. The staff were friendly, informative and attentive. An excellent meal in a comfortable, arm setting for a very reasonable price. We'll be back! More...

I came for an event and it didn't disappoint. First let me say that the staff was amazing. They were accommodating, friendly, and provide quality service. I had the margarita and it was delicious! The fresh lime juice with the strawberry tequila was the right combination. I had several starters. If you love bacon and a creamy Mac and Cheese; you have to have the 2686 Kitchen Bacon Mac & Cheese. The portion is a good size as well and can be a meal in itself. The Panko fried shrimp has a spicy but delicious sauce. I couldn't put them down. The fries were crispy and have several flavor options to choose from. I may have had more of a happy hour menu but I will be back for Sunday brunch and dinner options More...

The 2686 Kitchen is a standout in Midtown Ventura , the owners revitalized the restaurant space both aesthetically, and cuisine wise. You can dine on an array of fresh made salads and sandwiches (the rotisserie chicken is my absolute favorite) to pizzas, add to the mix are Argentinian & Syrian flavor profiles.Appetizers consist of Olives & pickled vegetables , panko shrimp, & empanadas. The Margaritas are made with A house made mix made fresh , I had the Blueberry bliss cocktail and ladies let me tell you this is a winner! Â This is a fabulous restaurant to bring a group of friends and the servers are so nice!
