You know why I am here .. Tuesday rib special! I personally like the original sauce the best - sweet with a bit of tang. The manager is very kind and accommodating. If I would like to sample a side I get a nice portion. So far, I have enjoyed all the sides. The corn pudding, collard greens, & potato salad are my fave. This place is awesome the staff is all very friendly and super helpful and the food was delicious. It was my first visit and certainly not my last! My husband, toddler and I shared the City Sampler with the Mac & Cheese and fresh cut fries, I upgraded to the pint size sides. We spent around $20 after the $5 reward for downloading the app (do it download the app). The meats are delicious, smoked turkey was moist, brisket was flavorful, sausage was juicy and the pulled pork was delicious. I love all the options for the bbq sauce, we will be back!!! We were visiting family in the area and looking for a lunch spot.  My husband has celiac disease, so sometimes it can be a challenge to find a place to accommodate him.  City Barbecue is fabulous for that.  Almost all of the items on the menu are gluten free (including sauces).  He had beef brisket, baked beans, and potato salad, all gluten free.  The chain does a good job identifying food allergens in their food.  It was busy and the parking lot was crowded, but what do you expect at noon?  Great meal! I felt like City BBQ totally ripped off the design, layout and ambiance of my favorite place for BBQ in Texas. It's a compliment. The food wasn't undelicious. Tip: the iced tea taste better with a bit of lemonade in it. When my dates food came out they called him names but they weren't untrue so we let it slide. Management will turn the lights off on you after they close. There's that. Minus one star because it got cold outside and they didn't offer me a place to sleep when I didn't want to leave. We had stellar service here 9/16 at lunch. It's been awhile since we had been to this location where we had been going almost weekly. It just fell out of rotation, but was the perfect choice for my aunt's birthday lunch.There were 6 of us and we got the Motherload. It's always plenty of food and has something for everyone! We walked in at 1 and ordered right away. Our food came out quickly and our meat was all cooked perfectly. We have picky people and I did all corn pudding since that is the favorite. And one greens for good measure.  Service was excellent. The staff went above and beyond to check on us during our meal. This is our favorite bbq place in Toledo! Have never left disappointed or hungry. We always get the pulled pork and brisket. This is one of my favorite BBQ places in Durham. Service is always good and friendly.  I appreciate the staff recommendations especially when you are trying to make up your mind.  The brisket tacos are excellent (be sure to use the green sauce). I went here for lunch and ordered a combo plate but my beef brisket was a little bit dry I knew that is usually better cuz I've been here before I mentioned it to the manager and he got me a different cut which was exceptional. Love city bbq. Always one of my favorite places to stop when traveling through Ohio/KY. I think they have some of the best pulled pork ever. I usually opt for the lunch special (smaller sandwich, but still tons of meat), with two sides. OK literally I have never tasted BBQ this good from a restaurant. It literally tastes like my mama made it. It is HAMHOCKS IN THE GREEEEEEN BEANS YALLL! !!!! wtf !!! They have the right amount of vinegar n seasons in it. Nothing needs to be added nor taken away. I thought only my mama did that !!!! The chicken taste like it was feeling ok about being chosen to be apart of this meal. It's tender, seasoned correctly and melts in my mouth. The porky was delectable. I don't eat a lot of porky but when I do- I'm coming back here to get it. My job had them cater for us today and I'm sure glad they did. Oh n the lemonade is spectacular. City Barbeque came recommended to us by our wedding venue, and they absolutely did not disappoint. My husband and I got more compliments on our food than anything else -- which one of our main goals was to make sure our guests had a great experience! Ok, this is great barbeque! We ordered a two meat plate with very good hush puppies and mayo based slaw. The pulled pork was cut right, and the beef brisket had the right amount of burnt ends. Tonight we tried a place that we've been meaning to try but haven't. Long story short, ordered on doordash, but didn't get any bbq sauce with our order. The manager on duty made things right and brought us our missing sauce. We ordered the largest sampler they had, I think it was called the mother load. Everything was delicious. The staff is friendly, the food is fresh and the place is well-kept. Featured in the photo is the pulled pork sandwich with the "original" bbq sauce, potato salad and vinegar slaw. This meal definitely hit the spot. The pork was tender and juicy, and with the added toppings and bbq, is was perfect. There are several ways to fix up your sandwich so be prepared for some choices. I went to City BBQ for the first time on Labor Day 2019 and I was impressed with the quality of the food.  Everything was prepared well and tasted delicious.  The meat seemed to be of adequate quantity for the price but the size of the side items was too small compared to the portions of the meat.   I even upgraded to the larger size of  sides on the Judges Sampler but found them to be inadequate for 3 people.   Like I said everything was good and the price was reasonable but even if it cost more there should be options for even larger sides with the with sample the city options.   We dined outside at one of the picnic tables and really enjoyed the experience on a not too hot Labor Day.   Even though City BBQ has been in business for 20 years this was my first time there but I promise it will not be my last. Best BBQ in the greater Raleigh area that I've had. More of a TX than NC style but has multiple sauces to choose from.  I really can't think of anything negative to say, other than perhaps it's a little pricey but that hasn't stopped us from going back and ultimately you get what you pay for.

Never been disappointed. As a general rule, prefer salads over sandwiches, but this is the exception. Glad they have a lunch menu with smaller portions so I don't feel as guilty indulging.

Well well well!!! This is a nice change from the usual cuisine that I have been ordering lately. Spotted this place in Yelp so I decided to give it a try. Well it did not disappoint. It is a little small on the inside but that is okay. The atmosphere is great though. The menu is not too lengthy being a barbecue place. So I ordered the chicken and sausage. I did not like how the meals did not come with any sides. So you have to pay a little extra for that. The food did not disappoint. The chicken was so moist and tender. The sausage was not spicy at all even though they said it would be a little. I also ordered the baked beans with mac and cheese and fries. The baked beans were great but the Mac and cheese was the best! The thing that made this restaurant the best to me was that they give you samples of the food. I live for samples!!!! So I tasted the regular cole slaw (good), the vinegar cole slaw (great). Then he gave me a sample of the ones I wanted but did not order. So I also had the greens (okay), green beans (better), and potato salad (good). There were also so many barbecue sauces that I could not sample them all.  Can't wait to go back. This. Place. Is. Awesome. It's a little pricey but we totally splurge for it about once every 2 to 3 weeks. We always get the brisket, which we order lean, and the sauces are to die for. Definitely a fun little place to go, and my sister always likes it because you don't have to leave a huge tip. It's a 'get your food, take it to your seat, clean up after yourself, and get out' kind of place. The sweet tea and lemonade is great. And don't forget about the free pickles! First time in to this fast-casual experience. You order at the walk-up counter & then they call out your order, like they would at a traditional BBQ down south (only exception - in the south all the hot-table options are in pans on front of you & these are in the kitchen so there's a slight delay). I do wish the gal at the counter would have asked if we'd been there before because I didn't really know that's how it worked and it look me staring at the menu for a bit and saying "so do we order here, then seat ourselves" to know what to do.We had a brisket sandwich & pulled pork sandwich + mac  n' cheese, green beans & vinegar slaw. There's a sauce & toppers bar near the drink station. I felt like they were either really sweet or really spicy - so I mixed the tangier mustard with the house sauce. The meats were flavorful on their own, though! Mac and cheese was cooked well & had a creamy sauce - tasted like Stouffers to me, which isn't necessarily bad but... yeah. The vinegar slaw had good flavor but was really wet & should have been dished up with a slotted app on the green beans were tasty - with a great bacon flavor and just the right amount of saltiness.Calories are posted on the menu but I did not realize that under sandwiches it was only meat and no bun (at least that's how it appears when I compare to nutrition info online) - mainly because it gives you the option to order it "naked".
