This last time that I went we got food to go because it was late and we just wanted to eat at home. We waited almost exactly 20 minutes for our food and when we got home (around 15 minutes later) our food was still nice and warm and was sooooo delicious. I've eaten here several times in the past 2 weeks visiting Salem.The chef is fantastic, the dishes are creative, delicious, and the service is top notch! We just tried Chiras for the first time and were impressed by how good the food was, and at very reasonable prices for upscale dining. The parmesan-crusted halibut was the best I have had, and my partner loved his Prime Rib (only available Fri and Sat). Really delicious house bread has rosemary and is served with honey butter for a touch of sweetness. Salads were also delicious, with homemade dressing. The only disappointment was the crab cakes appetizer. There was a fabulous mango salsa, but the crab cakes themselves tasted like they had been frozen and reheated, not made fresh. I highly recommended eating here. The food was amazing. We had 7 different dishes at our table and all were excellent. The staff at this establishment are incredible. They responded quickly to all our questions. My daughter wanted to try a pasta sauce and they made a small batch for her (they make everything to order). My wife ordered a mojito and loved it but wasn’t drinking it and they offered to replace it. This kind of customer service is sadly unheard of anymore. They are focusing on all the right things. I had found this restaurant on OpenTable and loved the venue. It's in the old Reeds Opera House with lots of history. My meal consisted of a nice salad with fresh mixed greens, dried cranberries, sliced almonds and blue cheese crumbles tossed with a light vinaigrette. I would suggest they add a little sliced red onion for more crunch. The option included a nice glass of wine and my entree was a perfectly pan fried piece of halibut served overtop of pumpkin ravioli in a cheesy creme sauce that was fabulous. My first time was at the end of 2017 i believe and I brought a four year old and 10 year old which I was nervous about because I didn't want to interrupt anyone's dinner. This one is a favorite for my wife and I. My wife is a fiend for chicken alfredo. Many restaurants will charge 15$ for a plate of boring alreado. Chiras makes a batch that you will be very satisfied with. It is delicious. My personal favorite is the "Really Big Nacho". This is on the appetizers but lets be honest it is a meal. This nacho is clearly made by someone who loves nachos. The chip to toppings ratio is perfect and it is made with seasoned grilled chicken. It is great. I recommend adding sauted jalapenos if you like some spice.I have had many other items from their menu and everything I have had is very good. They frequently have live music on the weekends. The wait staff are very friendly and do their jobs very well. I have also been served by the owner of the restaurant and he is very friendly.I hope this restaurant sticks around for a long time because this is the kind of place Salem need more of. More...

Let me tell you. This place has some amazing food and awesome service! Husband and I stumbled upon Chira's while meandering downtown on date night. We wanted something nice but not too ritzy [is there such a thing in Salem?!]. Chira's fit the bill! There was a slight mix up on my food, but the waiter took full responsibility and ensured a new order sent out right away. Had my first dining experience at China's a couple of days ago and I was ok around impressed. We ordered the Kobe Burger and Fettuccine Alfredo. Both were excellent. My wife and I just finished dining at Chira. What an incredible experience. Mr. Meyer was a fantastic server. I am quite picky about where my money goes (okay I am cheap). Every cent spent at this establishment was well worth it!From the very second that I entered this restaurant I was impressed. Each and every morsel of beef, chicken, crab, and even cabbage...and I hate cabbage...was incredibly tasty. If raspberry lemonade is your thing, you shall find none better that what is poured at Chira.The chef Mason and executive chef Yuriy made plate presentation a work of art that would put the stupid TV cooking shows to shame.My suggestion to anyone that is within any sort of driving distance to Salem stop in at this joint and be prepared to be impressed ASAP. This is one of the few places we've found that not only accommodates her, but makes her delicious food and never balks at the list when she pulls it out of her purse. First off I'd like to compliment the service. It was exceptional. Very prompt, cheerful and attentive. Nice ambience as a whole for the restaurant as a whole. The food was good. My girlfriend ordered the prime rib which was great. I had the crab/ artichoke tortellini. I thought it was ok. No taste of crab at all and the sauce was ok as well. A $22 pasta dish, not so much. Overall a good experience and I will return to try something else More...
