Unfortunately heard from our waitress that they are closing the business at the end of September. Fortunately, we had a chance to enjoy some creative and flavorful street tacos. We started off with Brussel sprouts, chips and salsa. Both were very good. Then we tried a variety of unusual tacos: BBQ brisket, shrimp and bacon, and Fun Guy portobello mushroom. Visited Tahoe for a family vacation, half the family arrived early and had already tried Chimayo but said we "had to go too" of course I took the recommendation seriously and went and I've been dreaming of it ever since and it was two weeks ago. This place is seriously nothing short of AMAZING. The meats were delish, loved the variety of "Mexican" and non-mexican flavors. They serve these pickeld cucumbers with their tacos that we couldn't get enough of either. I could only power through 3 tacos they were so filling but if you have an appetite there's so many good tacos left to try. 100% if you're in Tahoe you MUST go here. A nice little spot off the main road, but still right in the heart of everything. Staff was friendly, personable and helpful. The restaurant was clean and tidy. Not many people when I went. I'd rate this place ten stars if I could. Everything about it is perfect- from the quaint venue, to the cozy outdoor seating, to the chill vibe. This place feels like a summer vacation from childhood in the best way possible. And then there's the food. Holy Moses. The margarita is to die for- it's real, as I'm not that crappy stuff you buy in a bottle at the grocery store- no it's actual lemons and limes, and is SO good. The chips and salsa is ridiculous and I couldn't get enough of the homemade salsa. Then there is the taco situation. I'm pretty sure we had ten tacos between us, and every one of them was ah-mazing. Since I first visited this place over 2 years ago, the menu has changed and for the better. The tacos are amazing!! So innovative and unique. You can tell they have put a lot of effort into their recipes. My favorites are the Sticky Icky (sauce is incredible) and sloppy Cuban (Ropa vieja base is so delicious).
