Our small business has experienced growth and with that growth the challenge of how to get everything done and still have a personal life.
As a business owner I have always felt that it was important to handle the bookkeeping and accounting myself. My mentor told me decades ago “Never let anyone else count you money”. That said I was in a predicament; hire someone to see my clients or hire someone to do my invoicing and bookkeeping. My mentor also told me “If you stay in your office doing paperwork all the time, soon you won’t be able to pay for your office.”
So the bullet had to be bitten and the search for a bookkeeper began. First I advertised on Craig’s List which only resulted in a stream of emails from people with no experience. Then I searched by “word of mouth”. I was shocked to find how few people could answer the basic question: “What is the difference between a cash and an accrual bookkeeping system?”
I have always valued Facebook as a marketing tool so I was not surprised when my wife pointed out to me the recommendation of Cheryl DiMungo and Cheryl’s Full Accounting Service”. She of course knew the answer to the question.
My business handles private health care information and I insist on keeping that private health care information off the web and out of the cloud. Cheryl accommodates this requirement by coming to my office monthly. Cheryl takes care of the account reconciliations; business expenses and client pass through billings; invoicing which includes medical notes and monthly reports including profit and loss statement. Cheryl also takes care of the bookkeeping of my four fiduciary clients. I can personally attest to Cheryl’s competency with QuickBooks desktop and Quicken.
