I have loved this place since 1996 when Scott took me here for the first time. We have ordered numerous birthday cakes & still love to eat lunch here! Even though it was very busy and a small place we got sat down, ordered, and received food in about 13 minutes. They had many people coming in to pick up their cakes. .which look great! My step mother, Mary Lou, had a Cheery Laurel cookbook she would use often. We had 1/2 sandwiches and soups. The food is very good. Chicken salad sandwich and with tomato basil soup was just what I expected..very tasty. Would highly recommend anyone to stop by and try something. You won't be disappointed. More...

House hunting makes you hungry so I checked on Trip Advisor and this came out as a top choice! It’s the day before Easter so there was a lot of people picking up orders. We got a Rueben and a turkey club on a wheat tortilla. Both were delicious!! Loved that they had quite a selection of iced teas and I chose Blackberry! Of course I had to try a dessert after I looked at the cakes and chose Hummingbird! Extra moist and a generous slice that we shared and brought home what was left. Been in Athens four years and had never heard of Cherry Laurel Cafe. It’s easy to miss this little understated house! Looks can be deceiving! I had their Cabana Wrap for lunch. Amazing flavors! You read the ingredients and aren’t sure how coconut and lettuce will taste together but it’s AMAZING! I bought the Reuben to take home to my Husband who exclaimed “This is the BEST Reuben I’ve EVER HAD!” Their Raspberry Sage Tea is delicious. Such subtle flavors....even unsweetened. Where to begin.. First off, late notice cake needed for a graduation, no problem whatsover, delivered promptly! Second, consulted what was wanted, and what was at liberty to be designed freely, and looks are out of the park! Got exactly what I asked for, even on a smaller cake, was able to capture the moment perfectly. Third, the taste is amazing.. probably on of the tastiest cakes I have ever eaten. I'm not much of a sweets fanatic, but I really ate WAY to much to feel good about afterwards! Really good food and outstanding service. Met one of the owners and she was as friendly as it gets. There was a confusion over the price of the extra pickle and I was having a rough day and did not handle it as graciously as I would have liked but she handled it (and me lol) really well.
