Sat at a one top right next to kitchen so had a chance to chat with Josh and his prep chef as well. This is how I learned how to cook. Had some local rabbit sausage over potato cakes with a delicious rue made by prep chef along with a simple yet tasty charred romaine salad and half a bottle of tasty red per Josh's recommendations. We receny went for our anniversary. I had the lamb shank and my wife had the deconstructed lasagna. It was the most tender, delicious thing that I've ever eaten. The waiter was great too!

We dined at Chef's Table approximately 3 years ago when traveling through this area and the experience was so memorable that we made it a point to dine here again when revisiting the area. I ordered the pecan crusted local rainbow trout and grilled heart of Romaine salad. The only word that comes to mind is awesome. One of the best meals I have had. The wait can be a little longer than many restaurants as this food is prepared to order from the freshest ingredients. Excellent food, service and ambience. Delicious Caesar salad, fried mozzarella salad and the filet mignon cooked and seasoned to perfection (Pittsburgh - charred outside, medium rare inside). Highly recommend!!!

I have lived in the mountains for years but I had never visited this restaurant. I give it a resounding five stars across the board. The customer service, the atmosphere, and the food were all excellent. It's a smaller restaurant which we really liked and there is a window to see into the kitchen which I thought was cool. Our food was so fresh and flavorful. We got these goat cheese risotto balls as an appetizer which were light and delicious. My main course was local Sunburst trout with an avocado vinaigrette and mashed potatoes and vegetables. Everything was absolutely delicious and jam packed with flavor. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. He made great suggestions and really had an excellent knowledge of the food.The main chef, who is also the owner, has his own farm and the majority of ingredients are locally sourced. Thanks to Yelp reviewers we dined at Chefs Table last evening. We were taken to our table promptly and enjoyed looking around at the wine inspired decor. Our waitperson was both knowledgeable and attentive. The portions were large and our meal was superb.I had the grilled romaine, huge, but I had to eat it all because it was delicious! Next came the chicken Marsala with spinach, mushrooms and fresh pasta. I never eat pasta, this was so good I had some. Very full half way through I had enough for an interesting breakfast. My husband loved his Calamari and his entree was the Seafood Lasagna. That also was awesome, he saved half for breakfast too.Don't miss out in this gem of a small place with marvelous big portions. Great food, service and probably one of the biggest wine selections I've seen in a long time. Appetizers were on our table after about 10 minutes from ordering. Enjoyed a dinner with family on Monday evening.Exceptional wine list with minimal to small mark up. Started with goat cheese risotto balls. Wow!The salad was "smoked" which I had never had prior and was addicting!Next was a surf and turf mac and cheese. We spent 2 nights in Waynesville and dined here on the second.  We were delighted.  My foodie friend drove down from Asheville and we three had a great time. OUTSTANDING meal!!  Started with excellent but reasonable bottle of wine, the goat cheese risotto balls and deviled eggs each of which had their own sauces. Dinner among us included an amazing pork loin stuffed with date and fig over mashed potatoes with veg and amazing sauce, a salad with Brie, nuts and fruit and a shrimp pasta. Everyone was full and quite satisfied. I'm sure the desserts would be equally excellent but we just didn't have it in us. Alan, our server, let us set the pace and was there as desired but didn't dwell...perfect in my book. Honestly, considering what you pay for a burger and soda these days, I didn't think it was super expensive either. Will definitely go back!! More...
