As someone who lived near curry hill in Manhattan for 12 years, and also frequented high end nyc Indian restaurants like Tamarind, I was very impressed with Chef Prasad. It is a few steps above my favorite Indian restaurant in Manhattan. The saag paneer was a whipped cloud of creamed spinach unlike I have had anywhere and far superior. The Chaat eggplant appetizer was another favorite- no photos because too delicious to pause to take any. The was an elevated combination of herbs and spices and it sang! The prawns malai cooked in the tandoori oven were also perfection- a subtle marinade that enhanced the flavor of the shrimp without being too overpowering. Also ordered and recommend the tamarind baby eggplant dish. Outstanding service by Chuck who was knowledgable in answering our many questions and pacing the meal when he noticed we were there for date night. He made our night by recommending the chaat which was one of my favorite dishes in recent memory - truly attentive and gracious. The food here would be winning in NYC and it is even more appreciated in CT where restaurants of this caliber, especially Indian and Asian ones are few and far between. My wife and I drove an hour and a half to attend a Bill McKibben lecture, but missed it because of long delays on route I 95. Â Hoping to enjoy a good conversation and a glass of wine, we checked on Yelp and decided to enjoy a brief interlude at Chef Prasad. I order from Prasad once a week, normally take-out but last week I dined in and it was fabulous. Chuck is very accommodating and the Kale and Manchurian is much better straight from the kitchen. We ordered a Korma for our son, something I haven't eaten since I was a teen. It was out of this world creamy with cardamon! We are so lucky to have Chef here in New Canaan. As soon as I walked into Chef Prasad's Indian kitchen I was in awe with the ambiance and decor. I really enjoyed all the small details put into the decor of the place. On top of that, the waitstaff were very friendly, welcoming and showed passion in what they were doing which is hard to find nowadays when you go out to eat at restaurants. I very very much enjoyed the saag paneer, paneer puri, butter shrimp curry and their featured swordfish dish. I highly highly recommend this place to everyone. Came on a Friday night ! First impression - hosted by a very friendly and sweet hostess and then a beautiful ambiance of the restaurant and the smell got me really excited for food! Our waiter Darden was so friendly and you can tell he loves what he does! Delicious food and amazing choice of wine and beer. Cheers to Chef Prasad for such an interesting menu and fusion of flavors! What can I say that you wouldn't experience for yourself. Â They treated us as if they knew it was our 15th wedding anniversary. Â The service from all the employees was excellent. Â They have wonderful vegan dishes. Â Chicken Manchurian was delicious, moist with flavorful herbs and spices. Â A clean and well designed decor. It was nice to be greeted by Chef Prassad. I was blown by how amazing the Dal Makhani was even though I asked them to make it vegan for me. Possibly the best I have had in USA! Strongly recommend the eggplant chaat- I hate eggplants but took the risk on the waiters recommendation and it was so so so good! Ordered take out last night, and have to say it was excellent. I apologized for our boring, unadventurous order, which consisted of  chicken korma, chicken tikka masala and a plain naan! All were terrific, very light sauce, nice flavors, and the chicken was probably the best we've had from take-out. The plain naan was also great. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming. I've only ordered through Seamless, and the fact that I'm giving this 5 stars, despite a couple delivery hiccups here and there, is a testament to how good this food is. Â Easily the most complex/interesting/delicious Indian fare I've had in these parts. Â I'm no expert on the cuisine so I can't comment on how "authentic" it is, but I know what my taste buds tell me. Just ordered takeout and everything was delicious. We rarely order tandoori chicken from anyone because it's frequently dry and even more so tasteless. But it was part of our order this time and surprisingly it came out on top!!! It had a smoky flavor and was nicely spiced. Don't get me wrong. All of our dishes were amazing. Chef Prasad... named after the man himself is located just off of merritt parkway on New Cannan's Main Street, beautiful location with outside seating, with backyard string lights pretty awesome in summer time. The inside is all blue with India accented furniture, walls, tables and all of the decor. The menu interestingly is the exact same as India the restaurant in West Hartford again under ownership of Chef Prasad. Incredible taste, authentic Indian food I love the sunheri bhindi (fried okra tossed in mild spices), the chicken kebabs are mind blowing they are better than any I've in India(the country) itself, another one of my favs is the rice so aromatic you can eat it plain with no need for a gravy...it's that good.You can expect excellent service at all of his locations with no exception to this one as well, just superb.
