If you've never tried khachapuri, you are missing out. It is a delicious Georgian pizza that uses sulguni cheese and oh my god is it amazing. I had the chicken and my friend had the steak and both of them were equally good. However, the sauce that they provided with the chicken was better IMHO. The only downside about this place it's is that it takes forever for the food to come but trust me when I say it is well worth the wait. The staff here were friendly but not overbearing as well More...

Cheeseboat is one of my all time favorite spots in NY. The staff is incredible and the food is to die for. You've never tasted anything like the cheesy, egg, veggie or meat filled bread boats that melt in your mouth. Flavor is out of this world. The dumplings are a must have with the green sauce, you'll ask for a second order. I take all my out of state friends and family here to get them initiated into the New York food scene. You don't want to pass up a perfectly affordable Georgian experience; from the culture, the food and the exceptional hospitality you find at Cheeseboat. This was my second time coming here and the fiod is DELICIOUS. I arrived about 15 min prior to opening and they allowed me to sit inside until the kitchen was open. My waiter was really nice and took my order. I was waiting for a while and noticed my waiter had their bag and was saying good bye to the bartender. They walked out and didn't say anything to me. I thought that was kind of strange. I understand if your shift ends but at least let me know and alter me to who I should reach out to for future help. My god did take about 30 minutes to Arrive but it was extremely tasty. (I got the Bubba cheeseboat). Holy moly. I have a new favorite food (of many, admittedly). It is the decadent, rich, and savory cheeseboat. If you like cheese, bread, and. .. well... stuff that tastes so good it blows your mind, then head to Cheeseboat!I got the steak and mushroom, and my boyfriend got the magic mushroom. My steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and seasoned just right. It was a good portion for the dish as well.I don't know how they make their dough, but I want every pizza I eat to be made with it. It's so fluffy and soft but has a great chew. Like eating the world's best breadstick. Once it's all in your mouth, it really tastes like stuffed crust pizza x 1 million. To be clear, this dish is perfect, and I wouldn't change a single thing. I annoyingly commented this to my boyfriend after every bite. The picture in the menu had an egg in it, but mine didn't have one when the waiter brought it over. Honestly, there was so much richness from the cheese, an egg would have been overkill, so I didn't mind. The description also said it came with béarnaise sauce, but it actually came with some sort of green sauce. Same situation as the egg, I think the lighter sauce is the way to go here. They probably should update their menu though. One other discrepancy was with the cocktail I ordered: the Black Sea Breeze. It was supposed to come with raspberry purée, but mine did not. I could tell immediately due to the very translucent color, which also indicated a lack of the stated cranberry juice. Still, it tasted like lemonade and was delish. It will be very difficult to stay away from these cheeseboats. They are hella satisfying. More...

Absolutely delightful and incredibly delicious! The only reason for 4 stars was just because our service wasn't fantastic. At one point we had 2 different servers, but then no one came back to see if we wanted any more drinks or anything else. And then we needed to flag someone down to ask for our check. It could be that this is more of a place that requires asking someone for service, in which I would have asked for another drink, but regardless of the confusion, I will be coming back for the amazing food.I had the steak and mushroom cheese bowl and the hummus is a MUST! Came to this place in Williamsburg on a Saturday night around 6pm. As a party of 2 we were seated immediately outside without a reservation. The decor is nice outside and they have a menu for you to scan. The two of us shared the mushroom cheeseboat for the night - we wanted to try so many unique items on the menu, but were anticipating this dish to be pretty filling! The mushroom cheeseboat was SO tasty. The bread was light and fluffy, and the cheese was plentiful, warm and stringy. It was topped with mushrooms, onions, and some greens which added a lovely contrast of flavor to the cheese and bread. Highly recommend this for any mushroom-lovers! We both finished our halves but were very full and satisfied afterThe only thing is that the service for our table was fairly slow and a bit chaotic, so I had to dock a star for the experience, but not at all for the food. We were looking for a casual spot for our group date and collectively decided to try Cheeseboat (since most of us had never tried Georgian food). What a gem of a spot this ended up being! We showed up about 20 min early to our ressie and our table was already set and ready to go. We ordered a mix of everything for the group of 6 - hummus, soup dumplings, mushroom penovani, and 3 cheeseboats (Gouda, Steak&Mushrooms, Chicken) - and we DEVOURED it all, double/triple dunking bread bits along the way. Granted, our group has a healthy love for bread and cheese, so there was zero doubt we'd love the food... but honestly it was a bit of a surprise of HOW MUCH we loved it. Over the course of the meal, they ran out of the three beers on their menu one by one (first the IPA, then the Kolsch). But the quality of that comfort food still earns 5 stars in my book. More...

Enjoyed our early dinner at this traditional Georgian eatery with a great and warm ambiance. My favorite thing about Georgian food - possibly more than the famous cheeseboat - are the dips. Unfortunately they were out of the sampler dip platter which was one of the reasons we came. The prosciutto cheeseboat was good. The prosciutto was fresh and lots of tasty cheese, the bread was fantastic. Having tried other cheeseboats I would say it was not as good as the ones I've had the in city, for some reason it was missing the amazing pads of butter and egg yolk that I thought came standard. The Mukuzani was was phenomenal. So good we went to our closest wine store to get a bottle but they did not carry any Georgian wines unfortunately.Overall, it's a solid spot and glad there's a Georgian restaurant in Williamsburg, would like to go back when the sampler is available. One of them came and spoke to me if I'm looking to dine in. I mentioned that I would use the voucher. He responded that he will tell the manager about it, and he let me find the table to sit down afterwards. 10 minutes later, the same guy came back and refuse me to redeem that voucher. Said it can't be used for that day. So I checked the voucher again to make sure, also clarified with him that this was eligible to use, still he didn't let me use it. Found this place somewhat randomly online and eventually came here yesterday for a lunch date - and I am still struggling with how much food I've put into my body as a result, the next day. Short version:Great, really filling Georgian food in a nice establishment. Show up hungry.Long version:The reason we ordered that much food is because (a) we were totally unprepared for how hearty and filling the portions were, but mostly (b) because the food was so damned good and we just couldn't help ourselves.Came in when it was absolutely pouring rain (and hail was coming down for the first since since I can remember in NYC), so we dashed in just in time to avoid getting totally soaked. There was exactly one table for 2 available, right next to the door, so we sat down and looked over their menu. The only reason I'd be tempted to give them less than 5 stars is because the owners really need to step up their staffing - they only had two poor waiters to serve about 50 customers, split between their indoor and outdoor space. Service on their part was great (they were polite and prompt as they could be), but there was only so much they could do - food was a bit slow to come out, the door was always left open (which was an issue, right after a thunderstorm in mid-November), and we had to remind them of our drink orders a couple times. But again, since it was just two waitresses, we certainly tried not to be jerks about it either. A few customers showed up after we did, waited for 10-15 minutes to be seated, and eventually gave up - their loss, considering how good the food is.That said, the space indoors (when the door is closed and you're nice and warm) is nice and cozy without being cramped, and they have a really neat bathroom with plenty of books for adults and kids for some reason - and black walls that you can write on, with a bucket of chalk they provide. Neat!So yeah, onto the food. Keep one thing in mind: they do not mess around with their portions. We ordered the Khinkali Soup Dumplings and a bowl of warm Borscht with beef as an appetizer / small entree, to start us off - without realizing that was already enough to feed two people, and maybe leave room for dessert. The soup had plenty of meat and two slices of their home-made bread for dipping, and the dumplings were stuffed with beef and special Georgian spices. These were the thickest dumplings I'd ever tried, a lot chewier and harder to cut through than any Asian or Polish dumplings I've eaten before - and they were very tasty. We both wanted our own cheeseboat, so we could get to try different types, so we ordered 2 - and luckily the boats showed up fairly quickly, because we were about halfway through our appetizers. We got a doggy bag for the dumplings we hadn't eaten yet, and tried to take on these boats. She got the Shkmeruli Chicken boat, and I got the Steak 'n' Egg boat. It's...pretty much exactly what you would expect. A "boat" of delicious home-made bread that has a thick layer of melted cheese (part mozzarella, part feta), and the other ingredients are bedded on top. They have about a dozen options to choose from, including vegetarian or pescatarian options, but most of them have some form of meat. The quality is exactly why this place is highly rated, and why I'd be happy to come back despite their prices not being exactly cheap.Once you factor in how much damned food there is in each boat, however, it becomes less expensive - as long as you order just one boat for two people, or avoid the appetizers. A single boat is seriously enough for a date, trust me.We also ordered a shot of their Chacha (Georgian brandy, strong stuff) and some hot mulled wine, which helped us digest the food a bit.Eventually managed to struggle from our seats and go for a walk. At that point, finally a third server showed up - it was mid-afternoon at that point though, and they may have been prepping for the dinner rush.I'm really glad we tried the place out, was a fun and memorable weekend experience - yet another great restaurant in Greenpoint for us to come back to. So glad I saw this place browsing for restaurants and decided to stop by! Ended up here on a weekday to meet some friends and had an overall great experience. On a weekday the place was mostly empty and had both indoor and outdoor space to accommodate small and larger parties. The waitress was nice and helped us pick out what to order, and her suggestions were great.Food and drink: the place specializes in Georgian food with an emphasis on "cheese boats" which are essentially fr way basked oval breads with cheese and a special topping of your choice.1. Steak and mushroom - 5/5 - was phenomenal. The steak itself wasn't the highest quality of meat but it was cooked perfectly, juicy and tender. The bread was fresh, warm and was a wholesome meal.2. Spinach cheeseboat - 3/5 - was a pretty good meal but I think the incorporation of spinach into the dish was a bit superficial and just kind of wilted/tossed on top. 3. Khinkali - (5/5) - these were so good. Even when they called them soup dumplings and lacked the inside soup. The meat itself was so flavorful and good that it sold me. Great starter and set up for the rest of the meal. Order comes with 4 and wish I had 2x for myself.Overall: great place with some great food options. Summary; Skip Cheeseboat and sail to another restaurant. I wanted to like this place but all around, it was bad food with worse service. Recently went to dinner here with a group of friends. Two tables remained inside, one at the front by the windows, and a high-table in the rear jammed between the wall and what looked like a pallet covered by a blanket. We were seated by the pallet. Not 5 minutes later, a party of the same size came in after us without a reservation and was seated by the window table. As we tried to balance on rickety stools, and my friend couldn't sit straight without bumping her head into a decorative shelf on the wall behind her, we begged the waiter to move us to a newly emptied table.I regret that we asked to be moved, because we might have left this restaurant before suffering further, and wasting our money. After ordering two khachapuri, a side of fries, the Kartvelian salad, and the Khinkali soup dumplings, we were promptly served just the salad within minutes of placing our order. This $15 salad was a small bowl of bruised, stone-cold tomatoes and cucumbers, covered in a congealed, white paste of ground walnuts. It looked like it had been made in the morning and shoved in the back of the chiller. Ultimately, it resembled cat food, and lacked any kind of flavor. For an hour, we continually tried signaling not only our waitperson but all other staff as we tried to get more water having been served one carafe when we were seated. All the staff ignored us, and when our waitperson eventually got our request, they forgot to bring it. Being polite until now, one of us lost patience as were all thirsty, hungry, and tired, and had to shout at a staff person for some more water and it was brought over.Over an hour after placing our order, our food finally arrived. To our dismay, the dumplings were squashed, undercooked, and arrived in a bowl with water pooled on the bottom. The khachapuri did not fare better. The mushrooms on one of our them looked boiled, were chewy, and lacked flavor. The cheese on the second was not even melted. Both breads were undercooked near the center. The side of overpriced from-frozen French fries were the best thing about the meal and we still had to beg for some condiments.I would probably never come back here, and never recommend it. More...

Really really wanted to like this place and was very excited to try it. We traveled all the way from queens to check it out, and it seemed like a slow night when we got there (only 2 other tables). Unfortunately I left extremely disappointed. First thing that went wrong: we order drinks and one gets dropped off without mine. Waiter doesn't seem to notice and it takes us forever to grab his attention. When asked about my raspberry margarita, he casually says "honestly we may have missed it, but it'll be right out." OK cool. I was annoyed but I let it go. Our food comes out, and the person I dined with got a completely different dish than what he ordered. He gives us a chicken Cheeseboat when he ordered a Mac and cheese boat. Again, we asked the waiter what happened. Instead of apologizing and getting the correct dish right away, he assures us he will give us a discount. Not what we wanted, but FINE. To add insult to injury, my dish was correct, but absolutely disgusting. The "potato cheese bread" was more like instant mashed potatoes baked into flavorless bread. It was so repulsive I couldn't manage to finish a single bite. When I told him about this, he actually told us to "smile like everything is okay". WTF! Not only was this uncomfortable, it was unprofessional. He takes the dish away and immediately brings us the check without us asking for it, mid-meal might I add. Confused and upset by this, we decide to finish our drinks and pay, and he comes by with shots in an effort to repair the situation. The issue is that we were still charged for the incorrect dish and the forgotten margarita. Terrible service and we will NEVER be back. I wish I could turn back time and never pick this restaurant. If you love consuming massive amounts of cheese, this is definitely the place to go.

I ordered the bacon cheese boat and soko ketze (mozzarella filled button mushrooms). Although I throughly enjoy cheese, the cheese boats were a bit overwhelming and the 45 minute wait for the mushrooms was not worth the wait.

2 stars for the charming decor and the accommodating waiter.
