I've always enjoyed this restaurant for the best fish and seafood in my hood. The owner is wonderful, was in & made sure we were really taken care of. The service was great. This is my latest and greatest find, right in the hear of southern Brooklyn.
I am amazed at the service and quality of this restaurant. Alik, the owner, pays attention to all details, and his team of executive chefs delivers all the time.
I loved lunching here. The $17.95 lunch special is a steel considering what one gets for that price.
After dining here once, I became a firm patron.

I was very much pleased with the sense of home I received while eating here.

It is truly a family oriented and cozy place to dine, with no doubt.

The avocado salad dish (appetizer) was, as is clear in the pic I shared here, superb and utterly fresh as can possibly be. I gobbled it up with ease, but in terms of what was coming, it was only a tease.

I've come to learn that cutting corners in the restaurant field becomes clearly evident in the servings/product but you wont catch that happening at De Captained. You are given large servings of fresh and quality food which is continuously served to you. All the while, I remained entertained by light music and friendly conversation with a local waiter, and the (rather boring) date I brought.

I enjoyed the lamb kebob and reminisced as I was having my lunch, as to how it is very much as good as similar dishes I've had while visiting the Mediterranean abroad.

Jessica, my date tried the Escargot and mentioned it is among the finest she ever had. She comes from an aristocratic family and so I thought that a little hard to find - being that she's probably been fed it since in diapers - but she insists "The Best I've Ever Had"

My kebab was grilled to perfection and was super tasty. It did not need any spices or salt as the chef did a great job of spicing it up ready to be swallowed by a starving patron like myself.

Overall I am very happy with my choice to come for lunch here, however, I had to give Jessica the boot as she never offered to split or chip in on the bill, which I find unacceptable.

Stanley the owner/chef out does himself time and time again....absolutely magnificent food! The oysters are always fresh and beautifully served, the lamb/steak/chicken is succulent and cooked perfectly and two of my favorite sides are the truffle cous cous, and the polenta that comes with amazing langoustines I can't even describe the seasonings that are used with the seafood, amazing! !  Staff is extremely accommodating excellent service every time I've been to this restaurant also for those looking for a fun night out on the weekend with byob, live band, and dancing this is your place!! This place is just wonderful, 5-star food, beautiful plating, everything tasted wonderful and fresh, a bit pricey but it's definitely worth it. We were there this past Sunday for a birthday party. We got there at 6 and were surprised  that the restaurant was almost packed. We were a party of 20 and luckily sat all the way back by the windows. The decor is basic, wide open space, nice table cloth, narrow tables, quite noisy even before the music.The food was really fresh and tasty: oysters, salmon and tuna tartar served in individual spoons, Greek salad with good feta, eel salad, lobster salad, sea food salad, steak salad, smoked fish, goose liver pate, good fresh crusty bread, to name just a few, can't remember everything. The hot appetizers were made fresh right before the service, not reheated: perfectly cooked home fried potatoes with abundance of buttery chanterelle mushrooms and then kutabi, thin fried dough stuffed with either meat or greens. Then came the goose liver on toast, perfectly cooked filet minion served thin sliced with Israeli couscous. Oh and there was seafood: the assortment of salmon, shrimp, whole langoustines and king crab legs with the best fluffy cheesy polenta I've ever ate, and then if somebody had any more room, came out delicious lamb chops, chicken, lamb lula and quails with a side of shoe string potatoes. If that was not enough, for desert we were served petite french pastries with tea and coffee, sour cherry dumplings and plates of fresh fruit. I may have forgotten a few items, it was just way too much food.Again, not your average run of the mill Russian restaurant food or service. Hands down the best Espresso Martini and Sea Bass that I have ever had! The food and drinks here were amazing, this restaurant is in my top 5 of all time and I spend more money on food than rent. The Espresso Martini was the best I've had so far and the French Martini was something different and special, better than any other restaurant or bar. We had the Grilled Octopus which so tasty and perfectly cooked, the Oyster Shooter was awesome, The Foie Gras was different from every other restaurant but definitely a favorite, The Sea Bass was the best fish I've had and the Lamb Chops were delicious and cooked to perfection.The restaurant is nice and the staff is super helpful, polite, fun and their suggestions were spot on.  I highly recommend this restaurant, they give you a different and probably better version of your favorite dishes, a little pricey but worth it, you have to experience this for yourself. Second time here and they don't disappoint. Vegetarians, enjoy the salads, mushroom barley soup, chatchapuri, and varieniki. Excellent selection of wines and hard liquor. Great atmosphere especially for a party with live music. The kitchen staff can adjust to make food Georgian, Ukrainian, etc. Everything is real-real fruit, real vegetables, real crab, nothing imitation or pre-made.
