I do really enjoy the Y. I have been a memeber in different cities for years. I do wish they would crack down in the gym on people who use multiple machines and pieces of equipment. It is extremely frustrating to go up to a piece of equipment only to have someone come over from the other side of the gym and tell you they were using it. it causes controversy and should not be allowed. one machine or piece of equipment at a time. 5 stars Upper Palmetto consists of so many locations that I attend classes, workout and participate in programs at Riverwalk, Wellness Center, Baxter, Charlotte Ave & Clover CSD. I’ve read a lot of negative reviews addressing only one location. I would like folks to realize that Upper Palmetto consists of 14 locations!!! More...

The Baxter YMCA provides an excellent assortment of exercise equipment, including many treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, free weights, weight machines, and more. There is also a good sized indoor pool, for swimming in cold weather (or if you just don't like the outdoors). My only critique is that the racquetball courts are a bit outdated. My wife really enjoys the barre classes and several of the other programs they offer. The staff with whom I've interacted have all been incredibly nice and helpful. More...

I had total knee replacement on November 13. My recovery is going much better than expected. I owe this to Beth for H.U. R.T class, Jessi for spin class and Terri for yoga classes. Having upper body strength, core strength and strong quads has made all the difference in my being able to maneuver around and walk within four days.
