My Significant Other and I stopped by Charles Street Bakery and Café while in the area. The bakery is small but has plenty of selections including various cakes, whole and by the slice. I had a slice of zucchini cake and my S.O. had a slice of lemon pound cake.The lemon pound cake was sweet enough, moist and rich; the slice was small but the taste was big. We have stopped here frequently while passing through town. This place is both a hometown coffee shop and specialty bakery. I completely forgot that I needed a cake for an event that same night ( a Friday) I went in at 3:40 pm and walked out ten mins later with a beautiful, delicious cake that was personalized. Service was prompt and I couldn't have asked for a sweet person to help me. I also picked up a little treat for my friend cuz I know he loves key lime pies . I called last minute to see if they had any cakes available for same day pick-up. When I called in the morning they only had one option but said if I called back in the afternoon they would have more options. When I called back, they had 4-5 options from me to choose from and I was able to reserve a cake and pay for it over the phone. I was traveling from southern Maryland to pick up the cake and when I realized I would arrive after they closed I called and they waited for me to come in even though it was after 5:30. I really like this bakery. They have delicious treats and make some of the prettiest cakes! I just wish they had frostings other than butter cream. If I could give 30 stars I would. We picked up my daughter birthday cake and even though it was a great looking cake, it wasn't what she wanted. The young lady was so sweet and fixed it for her. When I called to order I didn’t really know what I wanted. I told the lady who answered the phone I was having a volunteer thank you tea party and wanted some cupcakes to go with it. She said “I can do (I believe she called it Russian tips) it’ll make them look like flowers. I was like ok sure sounds good... thinking they’d be white and semi pretty. Ordered a cake 3 months ago for my birthday the cake was beautiful turned out exactly like I pictured it, taste wise it was a bit underwhelmed Cause I ordered an almond cake with lemon curds in the icing and to me and my friends it tasted like a plain vanilla white cake but with that being said I would go again cause I feel like it's the best bakery in the area

These guys are a piece of heaven in Laplata my daughter and I stop by after school for cookies and they are always so Good! The Store front can easily be missed. It's a small bakery but with lots if delicious baked goods. I tried the brownies, peach pie & sum cranberry white chocolate cookies. All were delightful. Parking is a problem. You either have to cross the street & park there or behind the building. They also have soup, sandwiches & drinks. It is before u get to the Hospital on Charles Street. Got a birthday cake for my momma, it tasted delicious! Just a little disappointed in how little filling there was. I ordered a strawberry tart filling and i couldn’t even taste the tart because there was so little filling :( I will definitely be returning but will request that the entirety of the cake be filled with my desired filling, not just half and the other half filled with the icing I wanted. I absolutely LOVED getting my wedding cake from Charles Street Bakery. I actually had their cake from a previous wedding and I knew I had to have them for ours!
The consultation process was so easy and the staff was so friendly and welcoming for our tasting. They were able to capture all of the details of the cake we wanted and we couldn't be more than happier.
The vanilla raspberry cake is to die for! I dropped off fake flowers for them to use in our cake and told them to just get creative (with a small reference photo of course) and boy did they deliver! Our cake was to be simple but elegant and my goodness it was everything I wanted and more! It was the perfect blend of icing, cake, and flowers to really make it stand out and be something great! Please book them for your wedding cakes! For any cakes! I know I will be using them for many occasions to come!
