Placed 2 cake orders within 20 minutes of each other after I realized the first cake I ordered was not the right cake. I asked the owner to cancel my first order in my notes , in an email and in the phone . Unfortunately the chef made the incorrect cake anyway and claimed he assumed I just placed an accidental duplicate order. They were prompt on email when I asked if I could get a cake for a New Year's Eve birthday 4 days before the day. They said yes so I placed a last minute order for a birthday cake. The website is a little dated but is in working order. I placed an order and emailed them again and they confirmed it. Picking up the cake was a little awkward since they were busy, but the cake was ready to go when we arrived (and still a little warm!). However, I put directions for the order for their to be "Happy Birthday" written on the cake. It wasn't. It was decorated like the description on the website though and since it was last minute, I didn't mind much. I won't take any stars away from that. I ended up putting a topper on the cake.About the actual CAKE...The cake that I ordered and is pictured in my review, is the "Marble Mouse." The description is yellow cake with chocolate cake and chocolate mousse with white chocolate mousse frosting. The frosting was light and airy and the cake was so moist and didn't crumble to an extreme amount. The cake was eaten up by all. I am so glad I finally found a bakery that we enjoyed! I have traveled all over the world, and Chantel's is the best bakery I've ever known!! I have been a customer and a fan since the year 2000. I can't say enough good things about this bakery. The presentation, customer service and taste of everything is off the charts. And even when I place an order at the last minute, Dennis will always accommodate me. They even deliver, which really saves you time when you're hosting an event. We find any excuse to order from Chantel's. I ordered a Vegan birthday cake for my daughter. When I arrived to pick it up they informed me that they made a regular cake, not a vegan one. Since this was Saturday and we planned on celebrating Sunday it would have been impossible to find another vegan cake. However, the gentleman (forgot to ask his name, the owner maybe) told me he would remake it on Sunday and personally deliver it in time for our dinner. That's exactly what he did. Chantel's knocked it out of the park. I ordered a diabetic cake in spice with white frosting. I had arranged to have other sweets available as well, as I did not have much confidence in a diabetic cake. I was proven wrong. The cake was delicious, moist, and just perfect. Chantel's Bakery has the most outstanding customer service I have seen for a very long time! I was searching everywhere in the VA, MD and DC area for a bakery to make dairy free chocolate eclairs for a birthday! They not only tested a month ago to make sure they would be perfect, wrote special message and even went above and beyond to personally deliver over an hour away because I was having problems getting there! They are absolutely amazing and I can't thank them enough for doing this! I would recommend them 150% to everyone and definitely a long term customer! I'm glad I found this place. I ordered a gluten free, egg free, nut free & dairy free Birthday cake. I called at 11 am and the cake was ready to go by 2. I really appreciate how you accommodate people with severe allergies. The 40 minute drive was definitely worth it . Hands down this is my favorite bakery for gluten free cakes and cupcakes!!! Dennis, the owner, recently made me a dozen chocolate cupcakes and I can't tell you how good they were. They were moist, full of chocolate and there was no dryness like you often find in other gluten free products. Chantal's offers delivery service and it was right on time. He told me he'd drop the cupcakes off in the evening and there they were. The cupcakes were specially made and absolutely delicious. Ordered a cake as a surprise for a friend. Chantel's tried to deliver as I had requested during the day, but my friend was not home. We cannot say enough good things about Chantel’s Bakery and Chef Dennis. Our daughter was graduating from high school and somehow the cake planning fell through the cracks. I found Chef Dennis in a FB community search where my neighbors were raving about him and also his ratings in Yelp were excellent. We met 4 days before her graduation, and Dennis quickly told us he could make our daughter’s dream cake easily. It was simply perfect and so moist and delicious. Yes! Choose this one if you're looking for a bakery!? My husband's birthday was a day away and I decided I didn't want just any ordinary apple pie (he's a pie, not cake person) but a bakery? Could they do it in time? So I called in, since I didn't see Dutch apple on the website. I asked if they could make an apple pie with the cinnamon sugar crumbles on top and have it ready in less than 24 hours? Yes yes yes! They did it! I had it next day and its a beautiful pie! Even Chef Dennis commented on it! The smell out of the box when they showed me at the shop was to die for. Creme de la creme of apple pies. Not only that... I'm not even at the best part! First bite privileges were on the birthday man. He muttered "Ohhhhhhh. This is gooooooood." and didn't say another word until he'd delicately and eagerly finished his slice. The apples melt in your mouth! The crust was amazing flaky and cripsy, but not hard at all, between the apples and the cinnamon sugar crumbly, I'm not sure when I ate it! The crust underneath was cooked to perfection, absorbing the wonderful flavor of the pie, becoming this wonderfully buttery apple bliss. Ohh I want another slice just writing this. HUGE shout out to Chef Dennis and the Chantel's Bakery team! This business was highly recommended to me and now I understand why! My last minute Edible Arrangements order was delivered within two hours of my placing it via their website. I even received a 'personal' confirmation call immediately after it was delivered. WOW! We've been buying cakes and pies from Chef Dennis for more than (10) years and have never been disappointed! Our son has a tree nut and peanut allergy and when we heard that Chantel's would make "custom" cakes that were completely nut free, we jumped. Every year, for each kids birthday we try to stump Chef Dennis on cake designs for our kids birthdays. Chef Dennis has never met a challenge he couldn't deliver on! I cannot even begin to praise this experience I had with Chef Dennis. He made my ordering a cake for my Best Friends wedding stress free. I got full reign in her wedding and I had to make the decision on the cake I have never done that before. The cake was the most visually beautiful and delicious cake. It was a white cake with raspberry filling. All the guests still talk about it today. Cards were handed out. I will order all event cakes going forward with Chantel's Bakery. I called the bakery the day before my sons birthday, I had no high exceptions due to the lack of notifications. I honestly wanted to purchase a cake at Giant due to budget reasons, but decided that my son deserved a better tasting cake. Dennis who I assume is the owner was very pleasant over the phone, even after I told him I wanted the most plain strawberry cake with vanilla frosting, he was still sweet enough to ask how old my son was turning and what his favorite cartoon would be. My husband order a Strawberry Cake for me for my birthday. The cake was so moist and sooo sooo good! Many times I have tried to order from other bakers and the cake was dry. But I am so happy my husband gave it another shot. I went back and ordered a cake for my husband’s birthday. My husband is a chocoholic. So I requested the Oreo cake but all chocolate. Unfortunately, my husband wasn’t crazy about this cake. The cake was dry however the icing and filing was perfect. Next time I’ll have to order something with fudge.The owner was really friendly and although they were busy he didn’t show it.
