We were referred to Bryan at Cascadia Canine Training School for help when we added a second dog to our family. Our new pup was a year old when we got him and was on his 5th home. He had zero obedience training and major trust/socialization issues. Bryan helped us train him, and in the process we have gained the pups trust and respect. I can't say enough about Bryan Castleberry and Cascadia Canine Training School. We took our dog to a couple "doggie classes" prior to being referred to Bryan but didn't get much out of them. Having a German Shepherd we knew we had to have a well trained dog. Bryan's knowledge of dogs of all breeds is absolutely amazing. His training techniques were so effective with us and our dog and in such a short period of time. Bryan's calm but strict and precise manner made it so easy. Bryan is Bend's Dog Whisperer. His love of dogs and knowledge of canine psychology enables him to change even the most unruly dog into a well behaved canine citizen. I adopted a 10-months old chocolate lab (Charlie Brown). He was full of energy, a mind of his own, and two major problems: dragging me to wherever he wanted to go on walks and whining constantly in the car. After only one lesson with Bryan, Charlie Brown walked on a loose leash. After six (yes, only 6 weeks) of training, I can proudly take CB anywhere AND, we, again, have peace and quiet in the car. This is not your regular dog training school. I realized that as soon as I walked in and looked into the large (and crazy-clean) play areas, holding ten or so dogs, and it was quiet! The dogs were interested in me, but calm and happy -- truly a well-adjusted pack. Just the week prior, I left my dog at another facility, where every dog was barking frantically and jumping at the kennel doors. No surprise that my dog came home with a number of bad habits. Bryan and the Cascadia Canine Training School are absolutely fantastic and I can't recommend him highly enough! Bryan came highly recommended to me by 5 friends who were previous clients. I have a large mastiff puppy, Walter, who is my 2nd dog but first puppy. Before we started working with Bryan, I needed both hands and all of my strength to walk my giant puppy. After 1 week working with Bryan, I could walk my puppy with just 2 fingers! I was a little hesitant about using a prong collar at first but Bryan's love of dogs and support were super helpful and the results really paid off! Walter was very sensitive to the collar at first but doesn't mind wearing it at all anymore. After 6 sessions with Bryan, the training results were great and Walter now gets frequent compliments on his good behavior. Some of the training commands were unfamiliar to me as a previous dog owner but now I can't imagine a day without using the "wait" command for passing through doors, crossing streets, getting out of the truck, or anytime I would like Walter to wait before barging ahead. Bryan's commitment to dogs and training show with his lifetime support when enrolling in his training program. After each training session, I would often have questions when practicing and Bryan was prompt and extremely helpful in his replies. I'm sure I will have questions as Walter grows older and we gain new experiences together. I feel a lot better knowing that I can always contact Bryan when any training or behavior questions arise. A little over a year ago, my lab puppy was kicked out of not one, but two doggie day cares because he was a VERY energetic lab puppy. ...not a proud moment for me! Additionally, I had tried another training school and Raji had a very hard time concentrating on the lessons. Someone gave me Bryan's contact information and he was up for the challenge! Raji quickly graduated from on-leash to off-leash training. The training collar is wonderful and now he needs very little correction. At 2.5yo, he still has LOTS of engery, but we can redirect it in a positive way. Bryan is Bend's dog whisperer! He loves the dogs and they love and respond to him! Raji is very happy at Bryan's place and I am grateful to him for training me to work with my funny, happy, very high energy lab! More...

Brian is great. We are so glad we did out research and found him. He is knowledgeable, experienced, practical and explains the theory behind the training skills. We have a high drive dog and the difference Brian made in even one training session was remarkable. We are doing the doggy day care and also dog day school and see progress every day. Bryan came highly recommended for our German Sheppard CWL puppy rescued from the shelter. She is a real piece of work, aggressive towards people, scared of everything, and with a self-defined mission to protect us. Bryan did a great job at assessing our dog behavior and get her into training as soon as possible. Bryan helped us find ways to socialize our dog in a safe environment. We just finished basic training, and are going to start advanced training and good citizen dog program. Our four year old german shepherd was very dominant towards other dogs due, mostly, to some bad experiences at the dog park. With Bryan's training, (for us and her), we can hike and she can be around other dogs again. He also taught us how to get her used to horses, goats, cats etc. She is now in Cascadia Canine doggie day care and doing great. Bryan is an excellent trainer that we highly recommend. More...
