I’ve have over 30 years of experience helping clients identify self-defeating patterns and supporting them through the change of those patterns. I personally know what it’s like to struggle with anxiety or depressive thoughts in my own life and those of my family members. This gives me greater understanding and insight into the inner lives of my clients.

Some individuals, no matter how hard they try, struggle with freeing themselves of self-defeating patterns of thinking and behaving. While medication can be advantageous in these situations, we provide Traditional Neurofeedback as an alternative, when appropriate. Neurofeedback has been found successful in relieving the symptoms of depression, stress, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, insomnia, and many other symptoms.

Neurofeedback involves direct training of brain wave function for the purpose of developing more efficient patterns of brain-wave activity. This improved self-regulation of brain-wave activity transfers into improved self-regulation of emotions, behaviors and cognitive functionining.

During neurofeedback training, the client's brain-wave activity is monitored by placing sensors on the scalp. The client is then provided live, real-time "feedback" in regard to this activity. Depending on the type of neurofeedback being provided, the client may be engaged in various activities, such as playing a video game, practicing relaxation techniques, watching a movie or doing homework. We provided two different types of neurofeedback training, based on client's needs and comfort levels: Traditional Neurofeedback and LENS Neurofeedback.

Relationships can be difficult to navigate. No matter how much you love your partner, there will be conflict! You are two different people with differing needs, values, habits and desires. Repetitive arguments or disagreements can lead to power struggles, which can create anger and resentment. Over time, isolation and emptiness begins to creep in and negative emotions begin to override positive sentiments and emotions in the relationship.

Every relationship has triggers that evoke unhealthy communication habits. Couples counseling can offer a safe haven for couples to express their needs and fears and effectively resolve anger and conflict. Couples sessions begin with an assessment of your relationship, including each individuals relationship history. We explore areas of satisfaction as well as identify each individual's areas of concern. Typical session activities may include such skills as emotional regulation, setting and respecting boundaries, perspective taking, increasing empathy, effective communication, conflict resolution, problem solving, negotiating and trust-building.

I can help you foster open, healthy and productive communication, and teach the needed skills for couples to develop their own resolutions. Arguments and disagreements occur in even the happiest relationships. Learning how to navigate these disagreements in healthy ways can only serve to strengthen your relationship, putting you on course for a happy healthy loving relationship!

Counseling is a confidential collaborative effort between the therapist and client. For that reason, its important to find a qualified, respectful, nurturing and individualized counselor for your situation. I specialize in anxiety, depression, anger management, adjusting to life changes and stress management, offering varying approaches based on your personality and specific needs

After learning a little bit about you and your history, counseling begins with setting goals. What do you want from the therapy process? How will you know when you are done with counseling? What are your biggest concerns and how would you like to see them resolved? These are important questions to keep in mind when choosing a counselor and beginning the counseling process.

Once these questions have been answered, counseling moves toward a more fluid process of identifying barriers to meeting these goals, developing possible solutions, experimenting with these various solutions and tweaking your skills and abilities. This can involve developing better communication skills, learning healthy coping skills, strengthening self-esteem, or promoting healthier behavior patterns, the goal being to decrease self-destructive patterns, improve relationships, resolve trauma or painful feelings, and more.
