Q&As

Keep the client moving!

A candid shot tells the best story! While shooting events, I seek out these stories and celebrate the moments captured with every shutter click! You can't replicate that sort of emotion with a static pose!

When I do portrait sessions, my goal is to keep the client moving to capture the moments that often times come in between the poses!

I always want to align with my clients vision. I'll ask if they have something in mind or inspiration photos. I personally love it when they do because it creates a challenge. If they don't, I love helping them figure out what style they like and how they want to capture their special occasion!

I'll ask if they plan to print and frame photos or use solely for media use. I like to go into detail if they have a wall chosen and if they're doing a collage of photos in individual frames or just one large.

For businesses and branding, I'll often ask and discuss leaving negative space in the photo for later use with their logo, a promotion, a quote etc.

If a shoot includes children, I'll want to know their personalities and if they're shy or total hams!

Anything to set the day up for success!

I love earning the shot! Whether that means seeking out awesome candid moments at an event or spending two hours pre lighting for a studio shoot to get that perfect moody shot.

My photography career started in New Zealand as a professional skydiving photographer. I gleefully flew around individuals in free fall capturing excitement and adrenaline while also getting memorable footage on the ground such as wedding proposals and hugging your loved ones after safely landing. I began Captured Stoke after a neck surgery inspired to continue capturing those happy moments worth reliving over and over again!

I'm going to put the work in! The prep, the location scouting, the pre lighting on a studio shoot. Success is in the details! There's no limit to the quantity of photos you get or the length of time it takes to get those shots. My goal is to get the shot, to capture the stoke and the beauty of every moment!

I use long lenses that keep me distanced and have really honed in on my verbal cues to help pose a client or direct a movement all while remaining hands free!
