The owner Thomas and his crew were incredible. We received quotes from 3 others, and he was the only one who followed up on all my questions and seemed the most willing to listen to what we wanted designed. He provided a software generated layout of the yard, and then we went back and forth on tweaking the hardscape size and design. (This meant him working at night to respond within the day I provided notes.) He made good suggestions. When the work began, he always brought enough people to handle the specific task--removing debris and grading, framing concrete, etc. Sometimes there seemed like he had 3 trucks and nearly a dozen crew; mostly it was about 5-6 people each day. This meant that the whole re-landscaping of the front, back, and sides was done much faster than originally scheduled, which was great. Even though a lot was happening, they were also careful and cleaned up afterward. They even cleaned the sidewalk and areas that impacted neighbors' walkways at the end of every day so that everyone around us was not impacted. At the end of the project, Thomas made sure to show me how the irrigation panel worked, and tips on how to clean the valve filters, etc. Every crew member was super friendly and responsive, and Thomas stayed on site to answer questions and keep a careful eye on the project. I HIGHLY recommend Thomas and his company--no hesitation. We just went through a lot of renovations, and now have a lot of experience with various trades. I searched yelp looking for company that would clear out a backyard and remove trees and stumps. I came across CAMARENA LANDSCAPES. They answered my questions quickly and they gave me quotes quickly. They came out on a Saturday and Sunday ready to work. Very professional group of workers and worked fast. The yard was a jungle and they cleared it quick and left the yard clean with nothing left!!! They then hit the front yard and again fantastic job cleaning up bushes and removing unwanted rock and shrubs. Price was very fair and I would definitely use them again and refer them to anyone. I am a realtor and had a listing that was in desperate need of sod in the back yard. I called Camarena Landscapes and Richard came out the following day and gave me a bid. He was honest, on time, readily available and responded to my concerns. His bid was much better than another company who also received good reviews on Yelp. The bid was complete, said what type of sod he was putting in, and how much it was per square foot. They were able to put the sod in within a couple days. Carmarena Landscape has done an amazing transformation on my backyard and wood accent in the front (they will be coming back to do the front also). But what was equally impressive was their pricing which was very fair based on the research I had done and the timeline for the project was awesome. They were done in about 10 days. We had a blank grass slopping yard and now it's a oasis built for entertainment. I will offer that I found the design on my own, but they delivered the vision. We did have a couple hiccups along the way (couple plants didn't make it/water system not turned on/completing some smaller details) but here's where they get even better...the took responsibility, acknowledging their part and handled my concerns. Old fashioned customer service still exists here! I assure you they are good and I hope they continue to gain clients. Can't wait to bring them back for my last couple projects in my forever home! From beginning to end Thomas and his crew were professional, on time and VERY CLEAN!We changed the scope of work several times and Thomas was very easy going. His team completed concrete work and hardscaping. They also did tree trimming and landscaping. It is hard to find landscaping companies this talented and reliable. They are not your everyday landscaping company because they really do so much more. Pricing was fair. Attached are photos of the job partially completed. I will follow up with more photos. I just had to post this as I am so grateful for this company. Thomas and crew just left for the day after power washing the entire job and even cleaned my neighbors area to make sure they left everything sparkling clean. Camarena Landscapes responded quickly to our call for an estimate and quoted us very reasonably for the work we wanted done. The project we had was no small task (almost a week of work). It was the kind of project where you just don't know where to start. They removed few trees, roots, a number of bushes, and an unwanted section of pavement. They turned a mess into a beautiful yard that we will enjoy. They showed up on time every morning and worked diligently through the day. I used Camarena Landscapes to do the hardscaping for my large yard as well as build a fence in the front. They were totally professional and did great work. Absolutely 100% would recommend them! Here's why-We had a little backyard project and got several quotes. They not only came back with the most reasonable bid but they were so professional throughout the process! Thomas, the owner, was personally there to oversee the work (didn't matter that our job was relatively small in comparison to what they do). Their communication, from the beginning to the end, was awesome. Some of the contractors we called couldn't even give us a bid on time without us contacting them several times! I love my backyard! My project list included:-removing an unused concrete wading pool-removing grass and replacing with crushed granite-planting low-water plants throughout the backyard -installing drip irrigation throughout the backyard-creating a concrete bench-creating a 20X20 patio with broken concrete (reusing my concrete)-building a 10 ft pergola to cover the 20X20 patioRichard was my contact person. He listened to my ideas/wants, and came up with good ideas throughout the project. The work began during one of the hottest weeks in early August, 2018 yet the team showed up and worked diligently through the heat. Richard was right there working with them.I almost gave them 4 stars because I had to wait a week between the landscaping completion and the pergola construction. I realized though that it was a different team that had to do the pergola and they were finishing up another project. They installed DG and planter beds in my front yard. Very happy with the results. Crew all wears company clothes, they have all the best gear and tools. A full team of guys showed up. I needed more trees cleared and a concrete slab poured and Thomas came to the rescue again. Not only did he work around a bunch of wacky problems with the inspectors (that weren't his fault), but he was quick to get back to me and his price was more than fair. Thomas' guys cleared brush away, dug the trench, arranged the rebar, and poured the foundation for an addition in my backyard. He's got an impressive knowledge base and his ideas were decidedly helpful. His crew is made up of hard-working regular dudes that did a great job, and I couldn't be happier. I have more improvements scheduled this summer and I know I'm going to call Thomas again to come back. I've received everything I've paid for, on time and done right. He's earned my trust and my business and I look forward to working with him and his company in the future. I've noticed in other reviews there are complaints about missed appointments and whatnot. Although I can't comment on what others have experienced, I can say that Thomas and his company are in very high demand. Personally, I know it's a pain to take time off and schedule an appointment, only to have that person not show up. I get it. It's a pisser. That being said, I've worked in the construction field and I can tell you firsthand that finding a company with a decent crew that's consistent and does COMPETENT WORK is a big deal. I definitely recommend Camarena! We had a big project of removing a lot of excess dirt from an old raised garden and we wanted to add a patio to the backyard. They're fair on the pricing, and the quality of the work is excellent. I contacted Thomas through Yelp and he was prompt with his responses and by far the easiest to communicate with. Highly recommended. Thomas is an excellent landscaper. I messaged him thru Yelp. I was looking for a landscaper to remove the front lawn and install granulated granite landscaping with drought tolerant plants and drip irrigation. He replied right away with an estimate. We met on Friday. The work started on Monday (3 days later). The work was finished on Tuesday. The finished landscaping exceeded my expectations. He was able to re-purpose some river rock I had in my planter to create a faux stream bed. This made the project really extraordinary. I contracted with Tomas to design a plan to transform my relatively large side yard from a uneven weed infested wasteland to a usable space. I also needed the old cracked pink tile in my courtyard removed, the landing off the master suite extended and remove the grass and extend the courtyard footprint. Thomas and his crew did a great job landscaping both my front and back yards. I have a pretty big lot and needed a ton of work. They installed a sprinkler system front and back as well as grass and plants in both yards. I literally went from just dirt and weeds and old broken down brick planters to a beautiful yard I'm now proud to show off. Camarena Landscapes just completed installing a subsurface drip lawn irrigation system in my front lawn and a drip system in my raised planter. Thomas (owner) was polite and professional. His crew was also polite, professional and timely. The job was completed in 3 days and that included having the city "inspect" the work (it was more an admiration tour by 6 water department managers who were thouroughly impressed with the work and the results). Both nights before leaving from the site the crew cleaned the entire work area and swept all dirt from the driveway and sidewalks. After the work was completed and payment made Thomas stopped by just to make sure that I understood the workings of all the valves, filters and flushes. I am very grateful for the reference since Thomas was very professional and understanding despite all my last minute changes to the project. Thomas Camarena, as CEO, is a hands-on, attentive, soft-spoken, polite professional and his crew do a great job. I did a major backyard remodel, and initially found Camarena to be the only LA-area landscaping company that offered sub-surface drip installation. Camarena installed the sub-surface drip for lawn areas, extensive drip irrigation including a very steep slope, vertical gardens, planting of over 200 kinds of plants, and they created decomposed granite pathways, stone steps up to a flagstone seating area, and much more. Thomas had some very creative and practical ideas, and also referred me to a fantastic metal fabricator who did excellent work making a decorative metal frame for a vertical garden used to hide pool equipment and installing decorative wrought iron gates and fencing. I have worked with many landscapers, but Thomas is the best I've found. His company also provides maintenance.I have since sold that property, and the new owners continue with his maintenance crew. I would recommend Camarena Landscapes in a heart beat .Our property has never looked better and it sure is comforting to know the Camarena team is there every Thursday to make sure it stays that way. We have used many different services before and always had problems with “no shows” or things just not right. We have never had that issue with Camarena Landscapes and besides that the guys are polite and very detailed in their work and always on time. I also have to mention that it sure is nice to have a true professional help us with our landscape lighting, irrigation and plant and tree care. Put simply we are delighted with the garden Camarena Landscapes has given us.Of all the people we asked to visit and quote, Thomas seemed to be the only one to listen and understand what was wanted. Others just wanted to go for the simple option or what they would want in a garden, what they knew. We asked for NO GRASS, an area of water for fish, the sound of running water, differences of texture in the hard landscaping, a pergola against the house, perhaps some cover to sit under in the rain. We wanted it modern and edgy rather than old-worldly……….The design we have grew out of discussion between us. Whenever we came up with ‘I wonder if……..’ ‘I have seen……’ the idea was always looked into fully. Possibilities given and so the design grew. Thomas sourced all the items, including a modern water feature. I will admit to feeling a little apprehensive when the feature was fitted without us first seeing it. Why worry? Thomas had listened and knew exactly what we wanted. The quality of workmanship is excellent. Thomas stated wish is to build relationship with his customers rather than complete and move on. I have every confidence that if I needed to call on him he would be here to help, if I had any other projects I would not hesitate in going straight to him to take on the work. In keeping with that wish to build relationship it was a real pleasure having Thomas here each day in the ‘back yard’. They were fun and good to have around, that feeling is still here when we go into the garden to enjoy it and work in it.
