Good amount of food, and it's a comfort type of meal. This isn't a fresh veggies and salads kind of place. Most everything is fried, though grilled or blackened can be subbed for a buck more. Went with a group of 5 on a Wednesday evening. It was not busy, so we got a lot of personal attention. We started off with boudin balls. Most had never had them, and the best explanation was "something like a meaty hush puppy." Well, even those who don't like hush puppies like them.Entrees ordered included a fried shrimp basket, fried catfish poboy, seafood gumbo, fr. shrimp poboy, and a muffaletta. The size of the muffaletta is astounding. Jack's sauce was a table favorite condiment. Finished off the meal with a shared plate of beignets. More...

The shrimp were cooked to perfection and were lightly battered just as I like them. Service was very good. We will be back to try other things on the menu More...

I have seen a lot of polarizing reviews on this place. I like it a LOT. The food was absolutely fantastic. I had the 1/2 Alligator Sausage Po Boy with Red Beans and Rice. Wife had 1/2 Oyster Po Boy with cup of Seafood Gumbo. Both were excellent. I have seen the reviews about "price is way too high for quantity, blah, blah". I can tell you pointedly, their half po boy is bigger than Fish Markets full size. And you might have heard this before, but believe me, the bread on a po boy MAKES it or BREAKS it and they have nailed it! Fantastic! One other point to make. They have a REALLY GOOD happy hour from 2-7 weekdays. 2.00 domestic drafts. 3 or 4 half price appetizers. Another new restaurant in Chelsea does not have a happy hour at ALL. When I gave them a negative review, I got hammered to the point of having to delete the review. Give Cajun Boys a try. Worth it! More...

If you're looking for Cajun food, this is the absolute BEST place to go in Birmingham. It's definitely worth the drive to the suburbs. My kids and I ate here last Sunday, and we were blown away by how fresh and well executed the food was. We started with an order of the fried pickles. Now, I was there with a 16, 14, and 12 year old and there was NO WAY we could possibly finish this MASSIVE plate of fried pickles we were served. It was enough to feed at least 6 adults, and they were the best fried pickles I've had in Birmingham.I ordered a half shrimp po boy and cup of the chicken and sausage gumbo. WOW! The shrimp was so fresh and perfectly deep fried with a very light batter. The tomatoes were a bit mealy - I took them off, but the other toppings were perfect. The side of gumbo was smoky and meaty and served with a dollop of white rice. It was amazingly good. One daughter ordered the adult portion of chicken fingers. Five massive tenders were hand-breaded and served on a massive plate of fries. The tenders were a little overcooked and tough, but they flavor was fantastic. My son ordered the fried shrimp kids plate, and he loved it (although he was distracted by one of the many, many TVs playing sports). The shrimp were amazing. We were shocked at how great this place was, and we will definitely be back! More...

I finally broke down and gave them a try and I'm mad I didn't try them sooner. I got the shrimp basket with fries and it was delicious. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and they were a nice size. They weren't over battered or over cooked either! The French fries were good and the helpings are very generous. Sauce is a big thing with me, and their ranch, cocktail, and tartar sauce were DELICIOUS! Will be back! More...

I love this place for its simple and good Cajun food. We went here for dinner Saturday night on a recommendation from a friend. Usually I am a little iffy about about Cajun creole food authenticity. This place is the bomb. The waitress was super nice and patient as I tried to make up my mind. The chicken and andouille sausage gumbo was straight off bourbon street. The po boy was great with fresh bread. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the seating and ambience was a little lacking but I will get over that and home again !! More...

Saw the sign for Cajun boys while returning to the corporate office of American Family Care. So after work my girlfriend and I visited this establishment for supper, it has a nice environment, TVs galore and comfortable booths. We looked over the menu, decided on what we wanted and placed our order . Our order was out in about 10 to 15 minutes. More than enough of what we both ordered and very tasty and well cooked. Service was great , waitress kept checking on us to see if we needed refills or anything else. For the price it was all around a VERY GOOD MEAL , and we plan on returning to try other things on the menu. We give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ so keep it up guys and gals!!!! More...

The most authentic Cajun food I've had in the Birmingham area! All around fabulous experience. I had the shrimp platter and my husband ordered the catfish platter - cooked and seasoned perfectly! We ordered the kids chicken tender meal for our son, and it was delicious also! Clearly a hand-battered chicken tender. Cannot forget the beignets! You MUST order them if you come! Even if you think you're full, squeeze in a few bites. Pure heaven. Thanks for a great dinner experience! We'll be back soon, and often! More...

My wife loves the food here, so do I. We have had to adapt to the way wait staff operates. 1. Order beverages ASAP.2. If you like Appetizers served before your meal. .like me. Do not order your meal until you get Appetizers. (The food come quickly ) Note if you plan on sharing your appetizers ..ask when ordering to have trays brought for all so you can all share.(if you see no trays) go to bar and ask for trays before your food arrives. 3. Take your and people with you the empty beverage cups to the drink machine area, get ice ask for tea . Maybe they will not be our at 6:45 PM. 4.Go to refrigerator and get extra cocktail sauce so you can have while your fantastic shrimp oysters catfish is still hot and delish. We love the food and the people here. Now that we have been trained... I enjoy the go. More...
