A gorgeously simple setting in the middle of a private  garden. Inside the Allied Arts Guild all the way in the middle of the comely gardens and historic buildings is a pergola topped with wizened vibrant wisteria vines. These vines are thick and gnarled at the bottom. When I visited the wisteria had lost the remains of its yellow autumnal leaves. Fully in its brief winter sleep when I visited most recently. This is the place to visit in Spring when the wisteria blue blossoms. It bursts back to life every Spring. To sit under that jumble of abundance. The buzz of carpenter bees digging into the deliciousness. Oh, and for me, a coffee and pastry please. Be sure to reserve ahead especially on weekends and during events. More...

Cafe Wisteria is the place to go for a quality brunch in a fairytale setting. I always make a point to enjoy some food here whenever I'm in town. Most recently we came here three times in our one week Bay Area family vacation, and each time we left feeling nurtured by nature and satiated with deliciousness. My favorites are the crab avocado eggs benedict and the very authentic street tacos. My auntie loves the wild mushroom and gruyere panini with their butternut bisque. My 13 year old son usually orders the tequila lime shrimp penne or chicken carbonara, or he'll settle on a grass fed burger. My mom likes to sit back, relax, sip on some earl grey, take in all the beauty the gardens have to offer, and leisurely consume a salmon nicoise or steak and cheese. Cafe Wisteria is like a vacation within a vacation for us--great food for everyone and a great space to be present! More...

The atmosphere and ambiance of this cage is stunning. Tucked away on the beautiful grounds of the Allied Arts Guild, you couldn't ask for a more picturesque setting. Come here and take a stroll through the grounds to work your appetite, then head over to the cafe. The latte was nice and foamy. The bread and herb butter also delicious. We got the French onion sliders, smoky pasta carbonara, and tequila shrimp pasta. Overall pretty good. For me, the pasta didn't quite live up to the hefty price tag, but everything else was enjoyable, presented well, and prompt with nice service. More...

I went here for a work function and we all had a blast! The food, service, location...everything was amazing. I really enjoyed how professional the staff was and the food was amazing. I overheard several of my co-workers discussing how good the food was as well. The restaurant is a little out of the way, but it's worth the trip. The gardens, foliage, and food are worth the drive. Such a beautiful outdoor patio. I loved my sandwich and our cappuccinos were delightful. We had a little trouble with yellow jackets, but we were warned (and had an option to sit inside). We chose to brave the yellow jackets and it was well worth it. Incredibly peaceful spot, with yummy food. I'd go again. More...

I worked with Tiana Wong and the Cafe Wisteria team to cater my wedding in June of 2019, and they were absolutely incredible! This review is long overdue, Tiana is such a gem to work with and made the entire process SO much easier and stress-free! I absolutely appreciate Tiana's attention to detail, and we received tons of compliments on both the quality of the food at our wedding and the variety of dishes offered. We were pretty nervous before the tasting and finalizing a caterer, but after tasting all of the dishes that sounded good, Cafe Wisteria blew our expectations out of the water and we could rest assured our guests would have a lovely meal at our wedding :) Everything from the hors d'oeuvres, to the salad, to the main course were delicious and high quality! We decided on beef wellington, ahi tuna, and lamb lollipops for the hors d'oeuvres and for the main went with the salmon, chicken and braised beef short rib with a strawberry salad app and butternut squash ravioli. I would highly recommend working with the Cafe Wisteria team to cater your wedding or event, and if we have a need in the future, will do so again for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Thank you SO, so, much for making our day so special and memorable, Tiana and team! And for the delicious food that we and our guests loved, while taking the stress out of this entire process for our families! More...

I'd say come here for the beautiful ambiance and scenery rather than the limited menu. We made reservations for brunch on a beautiful sunny day and took full advantage of the weather by sitting outside in the garden. Despite the restaurant being busy and an event taking place nearby, there was plenty of parking available. I ordered the wild mushrooms and gruyere panini. While waiting for our entrees to arrive, I could not resist scarfing down the soft and fresh complimentary bread and butter. The mushrooms in my panini were not sliced evenly so some bites had big thick chunky bites of mushrooms (not so enjoyable) while the portions with thinly sliced mushrooms tasted much more deliciously balanced. After brunch, we roamed around the Allied Arts Guild which has lovely different areas to take in the gorgeous flowers and greenery or to snap a photo for the 'gram. More...

We recently had lunch at Cafe Wisteria. Although we had been to Allied Arts Guild before, this was our first time dining at the restaurant. We had a lovely afternoon eating outside on the patio and enjoying the gorgeous wisteria that was in bloom. We had the roasted corn and crab salad, wild mushroom and gruyere panini, and chicken cranberry salad. Everything was fresh, cooked just right, and not too salty or flavored. I wouldn't say the food was amazing but it was a very enjoyable meal in a perfect garden setting. My mother-in-law absolutely loved dining at the restaurant and said it was one of her all-time favorite meals. We plan to take her again on her next visit, for sure! *Since Cafe Wisteria is at the Allied Arts Guild, I believe some of the proceeds go towards Lucille Packard Hospital. So you are dining for a good cause! More...

My friends and I hosted a bridal shower for our friend at this lovely gem and were very happy with our experience!  Not only was the food delicious, the café is nestled between beautiful gardens and surrounded by architectural charm.  The manager, Angel, was very attentive and provided all we needed for our event to run smoothly.  She and her staff created the perfect ambience for our tea-party themed event.  The beverage counter, hor d'oevres display, and table settings were very detailed oriented which we really appreciated.   We started hor d'oeuvres with the Artisanal Cheese & Charcuterie Platter which was beautifully arranged and filled with excellent choices of cheeses, meats, and fruit that were very sweet.  Dinner began with a caprese salad dressed with a balsamic and pesto drizzle, and the creamy garlic mashed potatoes with grilled asparagus was the perfect combination for our main entrees of slow braised short rib (which was very tender and full of flavor) and grilled herb salmon (very well-seasoned).  I highly recommend Café Wisteria, especially if you are looking for a venue for an intimate wedding or bridal shower. WE had the most pleasant of dining experiences at Cafe Wisteria. We ate at a table outside, the food was fab, the ambiance was fab! ! Bring your friends, bring your kids, bring your relatives. Being here was like sitting in a warm hug! REALLY! Everything we ate was really great and tasty. Fresh mini baguettes with a wonderful fresh herb butter with Sea Salt on top. Something I have never had, but we ate more than our share! Sitting outside was just wonderful! I just felt so happy being there and I smile just thinking about it! Going back for Mothers Day Brunch! Will I see you there? NO WINE or BEER, BYOB if that is important to you. My one issue is that it is not very accessible, The sidewalks and pavement are uneven stone paths, Difficult for anyone using a cane and really bumpy if using a wheelchair. Bathrooms in the restaurant itself has a step and not accessible. I know there are other restrooms on the grounds but I did not check them out. This setting is rather old, and the inaccessibleness is also from a long time ago. The patio/outdoor seating would accommodate a wheelchair no prob, but there is the restroom issue. More...

Lovely cafe in a garden setting. Food was terrific. I had the chicken cranberry salad and the popcorn cauliflower. Who knew cauliflower could taste so good? ! My husband had the street tacos with carne asada. Also delicious. The warm bread and herb butter was also delicious- but don't fill up on it (easy to do) or you won't have room for the meal.It was a great meal in a lovely setting, a very short drive from the Stanford medical campus (Palo Alto). What keeps this from being a 5 star review: it's hidden in the Allied Arts Guild in an interior courtyard and there's no signage until you get into the courtyard and walk right up to it. The other things in the courtyards are artists' studios and you can quickly lose focus and forget you came for the cafe. We were there on a slow rainy day and the service was fine, but I wonder how it would be on a crowded day. More...

Our waitress was friendly and efficient despite being so pregnant( she was hustling) Tasty food, artful presentation and huge, fantastic cups of coffee. The crab cakes, watermelon salad and runner boi's burger were Fantastic. The dessert cake was too sweet and too heavy for this girl but my lunch companion made quick work of it. Visited on a Monday around 11:30 and the setting and atmosphere were wonderful outside.  Not a ton of waitstaff but they made us feel well taken care of.  The bread and herb butter to start were scrumptious! We ordered the watermelon caprese salad, tomato bisque, crab cake and avocado Benedict and carbonara.  All the food was well prepared and ingredients tasted well in season.  I can wait to come back here.  It was our first time at allied arts and it's a little confusing as their map lost the "you are here" sticker.  From the parking lot entrance side, head straight back until you see it on the right side before the rose walkway.  There were umbrellas up in the outside courtyard with a fountain in the middle.  Absolutely beautiful place. Glad to see a restaurant operating at Allied Arts again. It's such a charming setting and fun to walk around after lunch. My husband's chicken pot pie looked wonderful and he said it was delicious . Great crust and filled with chicken and vegetables. My apple and brie sanwich was disappointing. Lots of apples and not much brie. We'll go again but I will try something else next time. Returned and had chicken salad. It too was lackluster. Could be brightened up with apple or nuts or more cranberries. However we went back one more time and had absolutely wonderful hamburgers. They were juicy, not overwhelmed by bread, and were cooked to perfection. Would not have expected the perfect burger there but it was. Recommend that if you're a meat eater. Food just keeps getting better. Menu is changing seasonally for the good. I had lobster rolls. It was 3 smaller rolls and they were delicious. We were also served rolls just out of the oven with herb butter that were scrumptuous! Keep up the good work because we love coming to this beautiful setting. More...
