I purchased a cake for my dads birthday that was delicious. The cake was moist and the buttercream icing was delicious. The previous bakery was my go to bakery for everything. Reinwalds made beautiful speciality cakes. My request (elaborate at times) for cake designs were always met. I used them so much a number of my cakes were used in their book, and screen when you walked in. With that being said my expectations were high when I went into the bakery recently. I ordered a variety of items that came out to about $28 dollars or so. My items included a cannoli, mini cheesecake, small apple pie, and cupcakes. The young man that packed the items wasn't friendly, and he didn't pack the items correctly. He placed the cannoli in a white small bag! Not a big deal right? Welp he placed the bag on the bottom of the shopping bag. The small pastries were placed in a box but not secured. When we reached our destination and opened the box ALL of the pastries were crushed AND all were off the little gold plate they place them on. Believe it or not I wasn't to upset about any of this. What angered me was the cupcakes. I specifically asked if the cupcakes were chocolate and I was told NO! I couldn't see because the decorations on the cupcakes covered a lot. I give the chocolate cupcake to my son and he has a meltdown. He has sensory and texture issues, and he will not eat anything chocolate. When he becomes that upset he can make the atmosphere a bit uncomfortable for everyone. Thus why we avoid giving him chocolate at all cost. Needless to say I contacted the owner via Facebook and he was so pleasant and apologized so many times. He offered my family and I a credit and asked me to come in to say hi. When we went back to the bakery a young man helped us (he didn't greet us! He just helped us)! He says "who's next"! My son and I were the only ones there ! So I said we are the only ones here who do you think is next. He wasn't pleased with that response. He then asked what do you want! (I'm a mommy of 5 and have zero tolerance for disrespectful children) I immediately asked for the owner and that changed his tune instantly. So we started off rough but ended up cool. Had a Bridal Shower for my daughter almost two weeksago. Cannot say enough about the cake. Beautiful job,taste could not be surpassed. The customer service there is amazing! I've never felt so comfortable with something I'm purchasing in the hands of another person. On top of that the employees were happy and seemed to always be cheery. Whenever I go, whatever I get is top tier, from the decadent silk and satin mousse cake to the delicious crumb bun, I've never been let down. The gentleman that helped me the other day, I believe his name Griffith, was delightful and never stopped smiling, and really made my day that much better. I've been going to Buttercooky since I was a kid! So glad they decided to expand and open another bakery. I have never had a bad experience with any of the staff and have had some of the best cookies cakes and pastries of my time here! Highly recommend stopping in and grabbing some rainbow cookies!!!! I didn't know Reinwald's, since I'm new to the area. But I'm a big man who knows his baked goods, and I am seeing some wildly undeserved ire here for what I suspect is the terrible sin of "not being Reinwald's. " So let's talk about what Buttercooky actually IS.It's got a fantastic display, first of all. A wide variety of appetizing-looking treats and friendly staff complete the picture. I was in once and we tried the almond horns, cannoli, and sfogliatella.I thought the sfogliatella was excellent, freshly made with thin, light pastry and generous filling. The almond horn was similarly fresh, with excellent pastry, though a little sweet for my taste. The cannoli were also good, if unexciting - I suppose I'm just spoiled if a good cannoli no longer excited me though.More importantly, my birthday cake came from here (before I'd even heard of it actually.) I had a chocolate cake with chocolate ganache, and it was absolutely delicious. Clearly also made fresh, the chocolate was rich and authentic-tasting. Time to try the Buttercooky Bakery again.. replacing an old favorite formerly at this location has to be nearly impossible. Everyone wants the old things.The 2nd visit, I was able to find a few things a bit more interesting. Tried some different items. This time picked the cookies for more interesting ones. I think it's appalling that people are giving this bakery a 1-2/5 star review simply because it's a different company than the bakery that used to be in the same location, and doesn't offer the same services or prices, and has different recipes. I've been here three times now, and have come away impressed each time. The rainbow cookies are some of the best I've had, their home made powdered donuts are fantastic, and the chocolate mousse cake we had for my mother's birthday last night was absolutely delicious. The croissants were... fine, not great. Would recommended Fiorello's behind the huntington AMC for those over here, but otherwise everything has been delicious. Is it expensive? Looked exactly like the buttercooky locations in nassau! Had everything and anything you wanted, not many people there when we went which was unusual as I am used to jam packed locations out west but iwhatever we got was still really good. Bought a 9 inch cake for baby shower custom made, everyone loved it! It was $47, and good for 20 people(thin slices) with a little more than 1/4 left over. It all started with a jelly donut a colleague had brought in a month ago - jelly-ful, sugary and delicious. Being in the area first thing in the morning, I couldn't refuse. It was overwhelming walking in to cases filled with cookies, pastries, muffins, cakes, and finally the donuts. I don't live in the area, but my Uncle and his family do so I've gotten to try several cakes and pies from Reinwald's over the years. This time, it was a mocha mousse cake from Buttercooky that showed up at our Thanksgiving dinner. It looked gorgeous and tasted delicious: the cake was chocolatey and moist, and the mousse was dense and very flavorful. As far as that cake is concerned, the change of ownership certainly didn't result in a decline in quality.He also brought a few pies - blueberry and coconut custard - but I didn't try either of those. I've been to this bakery twice and I'm already in love with it. First time was earlier this summer. I went fishing for porgies at sunrise with my uncle and we were starving on the way home and picked up raisin Challah bread and a dozen cupcakes as the bakery opens at 6:30am. Cupcakes were very good, bread was excellent. Then a few weeks ago, I ordered a fresh fruit cake plus Italian and Focaccia bread online, as we were expecting a guest. Unfortunately, I was late getting there and the store was closed when I went to pick up my order. I called in the next morning and drove over. They replaced the day old bread with fresh bread baked that morning, and had kept the cake refrigerated so the berries/peaches/kiwi were still good. I have nothing but good things to say about this place! I live about a half hour away but have friends and family who live in the area and they are always getting bread and cake from Reinwald's. My one friend always has a pecan raisin ring in her house ( I visit her a lot). I try and stop in the bakery as much as possible. Any special occasion I get a sheet cake and they always custom make it the way I ask them to. Favorite item - definitely the silk and satin. chocolate mousse and cheesecake, yum! It is a little heavy but omg it is heaven! They also make a mini version for when I am being selfish and don't want to share with my kids! You have to check this place out, they really do it all! I have lived in Huntington for 25 years and must have been going here since day 1. They made my son's baptism cake thru college graduation. They made this one cake in the shape of a car that was incredible. Jelly donuts are best and I have the hips to show for it. Holidays are not holidays without a cake from here. My office always looks forward to my birthday so that they have a cake from here. I've recommended them to many of my friends and they are glad I did. Lately they have what they call a recession buster which is good deal a cake and a bread for $7 I think. My Tip would be check your diet at the door and just enjoy a jelly donut and cup of their fresh coffee. More...
