I echo the recent review by Sean W. We sat out on the deck, peaceful, with light puffs of barbecue aroma wafting from the grill nearby, whetting our appetite. Barbecue is not one of my favorite types of food. I do not enjoy getting messy when I eat and I'm a bit OCD when it come to wiping my hands. Which barbecue does not allow for clean eating. Just because I do not enjoy eating barbecue does not mean that I cannot appreciate it every so often.Just so we are clear I partook of this via their food truck. When I did, I was able to select between two meats and two sides. Not a bad deal in my opinion. With that I do have to say it was not necessarily my favorite choices of meat. I ended up with baby back ribs and brisket. For my sides I opted for the mac n cheese and cole slaw.Again, I hate getting messy while I eat, so I went at this with utensils.  Was it a hard task to go about? Yes. Did I look a bit silly doing so? Yes. Was it less messy? No. What I really appreciated with this is that flavor of the barbecue.  It was amazing. Of course you smelt it before you even saw it. Once I had the food in front of me it looked like a heaping pile of mess. I had to dig through the meats and pick out the tastiest pieces first. But I did little more than just devour the sides. They, to me, were the stars of the show. The mac n cheese had the right consistency so that you weren't overwhelmed by it. Well, I've finally discovered THE WORST ribs on the planet. Omg. Had the dry rub half rack for lunch. The meat was as dry as beef jerky. Couldn't even eat it. It does not look ANYTHING like the pictures here on yelp. You couldn't even chew it. Do not waste your money here. More...

Man, what a spot. From the second you walk in the door you feel like you're hanging out at a family bbq. Super friendly staff, quaint setting, and the smell, oh the smell.  Most BBQ needs sauce to complete the meal, at Butcher Bob's the meat is so flavorful you'll forget to put it on till the end (I did). Threw some of their house made Carolina style sauce on and it somehow made it even better. The coleslaw was super fresh and crisp, as well as the pickles. They have some great local beers available too. If you're driving down Rt 80 and skip this place, you messed up. More...

Butcher Bob's employees young adults who require work permits to work. That is an amazing thing to help with younger adults with accountability, if only he followed the labor laws instead of cheap labor He sets a poor example for the young adults he employees. He also allows his workers to smoke and vape in the kitchen. That is extremely unsanitary conditions, I would not feed this food to my dog. More...

Traveling from Philly to Buffalo and decided it was time for lunch. Took a look around and found I was only six minutes from this place, so veered off the highway and took the three mile trip. Holly hell that was good. Best BBQ I have had in a while. We just stopped in for lunch after making a delivery. We are from Harrisburg and will definitely take the 2hour trip again. I got the pork sandwich I believe was 14$ but was literally a softball size of meat on the bun. In our area 14$ would get you a 4oz scoop of meat..Bob also gave us free samples of burnt ends to which I then got a large order to go. Even makes his own jerky which we also got. saw Bob come in kitchen from kitchen. he got back from going the bathroom. never washed his hands and went right to eating food out of a bowl that was used for patrons. sloppy Bob. that's disgusting.

It's almost impossible to say enough good things about this simple, off-the-highway, out-of-the-way piece of BBQ heaven. We ordered way too much for takeout. And after diving into it, way too little. Every single lightly-smoked bite was way beyond good and we're still doling out teeny-tiny tastes of the plentiful sauces.Nothing is haphazard here. It's all well-studied and carefully-crafted. It's very serious food, reminiscent of Austin's best. I have to believe that only COVID and its quiet location keep this gem from being jammed with serious eaters. If I lived closer, I'd pitch a tent in their parking lot so I could be closer to the food. Yeah, that good...! More...

We really enjoyed eating here!  My husband had the meatloaf and absolutely loved it, and I had the smoked chicken, which was also very good.  The smoked chicken bites and stuffed cherry peppers were great, too!  They had a nice variety of sauces, which complemented the variety of dishes that they serve.  Before moving to this area, we lived in Texas, and really missed good BBQ.  We will definitely go there again! Our first time ever at ButcherBobs & I just have to say.. Highly recommend! Fantastic food with fantastic staff. Bob was super friendly, he even offered to drive to dollar general to get AA batteries for me (instant camera for documentation that died)! Highly recommend - drink a beer (yes they have beer as well +++) bring your friends, enjoy some deliciousness from the smoker & buy some sauce to take home with you! More...

It's ok bbq.  I got the sampler I tried everything.   The ribs were over cooked and dry.  I understand that happens.  The chicken wasn't very good.  The brisket was ok. And the pulled pork was as well.  I travel alot so I guess PA isn't the best for smoked bbq, but it is edible if your driving through.  Stick to the pulled pork and brisket! I'd probably not go again, there's just to many good places on the route. More...
