We have been to the bull's head multiple times, its one of our favorite restaurants in Cobleskill. Tonight we were disappointed. My husband ordered a steak, cooked medium. The streak came and was well done. The cook on the steak is not the reason for our disappointment, mistakes happen I get that, just make it right. Instead the owner came over and insisted the steak was not overcooked, he said it was brown because of the marinade and even if medium rare was ordered, it would not be pink because of the marinade. My husband explained that the feel of the steak was not medium, no matter the color, a medium cooked steak could not feel firm when pressed in the center with one finger and would not be chewy. The owner insisted it was medium. 5 minutes later, he came back over to our table and indicated that maybe my husband was correct and the steak was indeed well done but again stated that that could not be determined by the color. They did comp the dinner, my husband didn't ear the steak. Overall disappointment with how the issue was handled, just own the mistake and fix it! This was one of our favorite spots. More...

This place is awesome! The environment is cool with all the historic decor. I came with my family for dinner on a Friday night a very nice and polite waitress served us our food and drinks. We did have have to wait for some more time than expected but it was alright. If anyone is Gluten Free, they do offer Gluten Free Hamburger Buns. They're food is amazing. 4.5 stars Only place to get a decent salad in Cobleskill. Food is always top notch and kids meals come with an ice cream sundae. It does take some time to get your food but not unreasonably long, and the staff are very attentive. The cellar tavern is a nice spot to sit and take time to enjoy your meal. They often have music in the tavern as well. Reservations strongly recommended; while they do accept walk-ins we've been turned away every time we tried. 🍽️✨ DINNER DRAMA AT BULL'S HEAD INN 🚫👎 Had the *pleasure* of dining at Bull's Head Inn for the last time. Let's talk about it. 🗣️ Party of six, blessed with a kick-ass, pregnant waitress who deserves all the praise. 👏 Now, for the rest of the crew, buckle up. First off, spilled food on the table? Not cool. Had to play detective and ask the waiter to clean up the crime scene. 🕵️♀️ And don't get me started on the bread saga—charged per roll and handed plastic-wrapped butter. Classy move, Bull's Head. 🍞🤔 Ordered a salad, got a plate fit for goats, apparently. 🐐 Grandma vibes, anyone? The welcome at the door? About as warm as a snowman's hug. ⛄ Wait time? Oh, it's an art form, especially when the kitchen staff is having a casual chat like it's a backyard barbecue. 🍔 After an eternity, dropped a whopping $400 (ouch!) and realized they forgot the ice cream that came with the kids' meals. Walking up you will see this place has been here since 1802. There is a reason for that. Great atmosphere. Attentive staff. Music that rocks but not so loud as to not be able to have conversation. Had the chicken pot. Only negative is it is so hot you may burn your tongue eating this tasty meal. Luckily for me I have a large mouth and was able to wrap my lips around the club sandwich. I had the strangest experience at the Bull's Head, where my meal was excellent (kudos to the kitchen) but the distinct lack of flexibility and hospitality from the hosts left me with a bad feeling for the whole experience. Food gets 4 stars but only 1 star for front of house. My party arrived 5pm on a fall Saturday where almost all the tables in the restaurant were open. We didn't have a reservation so the hostess said she would only seat us in the cellar tavern. Understandable, maybe all the other tables have reservations and the restaurant would be full before we left (remember this for later in the review) She leads us into the basement where they have a bar and a mix of high tops and four top tables. The first thing that hit me was the overwhelming mildew smell. I should have left then, but I like old inns and despite the odor, it was an interesting space. The hostess leads me to a table right next to a band setting up. When I say "next to", I mean butting up against their equipment and underneath a speaker. I politely asked if we can take one of the multiple unoccupied tables further away from band and received a curt no. Maybe these tables would also be filled shortly? Nope. Halfway through our meal, the band starts playing and we can't hear each other. We wrap up our meal in about 75 minutes The food is good, but we can't hear each other over the band who we're practically in their laps despite other tables still being open (Only one other table came in after us) and the mildew smell is still strong, Here's the kicker...as we walked out of the basement tavern, most of the tables were still empty and the upstairs had only a few tables occupied. They could have sat us anywhere, but chose to give us bad seats and wouldn't entertain a request to move tables even though plenty were open and would likely be open most of the evening. It left us feeling unwelcome and unsatisfied. Reading through other Yelp reviews, this seems to be a regular occurrence rather than an outlier. So, I can say the kitchen here is doing a good job, but I wouldn't sit in the cellar and I wouldn't show up without a reservation with specific requests. More...

This restaurant is in a quaint historic building. The food was excellent. My husband got the grilled prime rib with shrimp, and I had a seafood platter. Everything was delicious.
