Great array of kombuchas on tap, craft beer, and a nice menu of snacks and sandwiches. We split a pastrami on rye (The Mensch sandwich) and it was spectacular. The Fuji Apple/Green Tea Kombucha was great! Bought a growler ($15) to take some home too. The pickle plate is great too. The owners are also really friendly and the space is beautiful. More...

I love the vibe of both this place and Chandler Street. It is hard to find, but it is in a court yard that also contains Blackbird. They offer a variety of snacks. I was drinking across the way at Blackbird, and my friend and I wanted to go over there and see what they had. They have fried Cheerios, which I was intrigued, but not enough to order them. I settled on the pickled egg, which was pickled in beets. At seedy bars there are always pickled eggs in a glass container waiting for the drunk people to eat. I've wanted to try a pickled egg while out drinking, but I don't go to seedy placed. This turned out perfect. I liked the flavor. I'm not really big into hard boiled eggs, but this was good. My friend ordered a pickled sausage, and she said she liked it. I have had their kombucha before, and it was good. More...

Where do I begin?! By far the best fermented products in New York state let alone in the Northeast. I used to have my fermented sauerkraut shipped all the way (overnight)from California after tasting over a hundred different ones local and others in the Northeast. Buffalo Barrel and Brine far exceeds in both taste and quality offering vibrant crunch and delicious flavor that even small children can't help but become addicted to. Not only that their pickles and kombucha are superior and truly delectable. My favorite part of all is the quality of service, care and love in their products. The owners are courteous and friendly and truly have a heart and passion for what they do. A trip to the shop is like a visit to friends. Keep up the awesome job you guys have gone above and beyond to keep my family healthy. We all thank you especially our daughter Willow! More...

Buffalo Barrel and Brine are the best fermenters around! Whether you're into pickles or the kombucha or just the delicious krauts you can't go wrong! The service is unsurpassed and owners are so sweet and you can feel the love in every jar/bottle of their products. My kiddos even love it and they are only four! I have tried sauerkraut from all over the U.S. and I used to have it shipped all the way from California because no local ones had the flavor and quality that I sought. Well then Buffalo Barrel and Brine came along and stole my heart and my whole family's taste buds. The quality is in both taste and texture. Not to mention the value in affordability.... we should all pinch yourself that this awesome product is need rate in our local city! More...

A big shout-out to Barrel + Brine. The pickled cherries were fantastic and they went out of their way to make sure two out-of-towners would be able to try them before the official release! I have purchased several items from them and I have not one complaint about anything. Their Bloody Mary mix is to die for if you are a pickle fan. It's made with their pickle juice. Fantastic! They have unique fermented items, some of which are seasonal. I just picked up their once-a-year pickeled Manhatten cherries. People will fight over these, and they sell out in about an hour. Their krauts and pickles are like nothing else you've seen. Flavor combinations like IPA pickles, Chinese spice, and beet/caraway kraut. But if you are not that adventurous, don't fret. They have regular dills and kraut too. Look for these guys at stores and markets throughout WNY. Check out their website for where they are selling. More...

Took a walking tour of the West Side with a group of friends. This was our first stop. I LOVE pickles, so was super excited to try some dills from here. We chatted with the owner for a few minutes and had the pleasure of sampling some of the kombucha. This was my first time trying kombucha and I was pretty impressed! I tried the ginger & lemon, orange & hibiscus, and the blueberry lavender. The blueberry lavender was my favorite. I purchased a jar of the NY Deli pickles and we ate them immediately. Yummm! I love everything about Barrel and Brine!! We were first introduced to them at Aurora Brew works when we purchased some horseradish dills and IPA dills. Outstanding. Then we started purchasing their sauerkraut because my husband makes his signature dish with it... the Reuben dog! Their sauerkraut is the best. Slightly crunchy, not mushy like the supermarket kinds.I visited the elmwood Bidwell farmers market this fall and stopped by their tent and purchased their Bloody Mary mix. I swear barrel and brine can do no wrong. Everything we purchase of theirs is AMAZING! Truly the best. I was so happy to be able to visit their storefront on the west side. What a cute little shop.We did not see any kraut in the fridge, so we asked. The employee was very happy to help us and get us 2 fresh from the barrel jars of their kraut. So happy that barrel and brine is a local business that consistently produces a quality product and very reasonable prices.
