We attended Buttcracker 9: Son of a Buttcracker, which was my husband and my first exposure to the Bruka Theater. We cannot say enough great things about the cast and their performance- Everyone was exceptional! Mary Bennet is magnificent and John Wade is so mesmerizing, you can't take your eyes off him!! He is a brilliant talent. We are excited to attend another performance soon and hope to see many of the same performers. Thank you for such a fun evening, we are true fans. If you haven't yet attended a showing at the Bruka, but your tickets! More...

This was a epic theater experience! I got these tickets for my husband's birthday on a Wednesday. I've been to a couple of theaters in Reno and I love the smaller more intimate ones. This was a drag show and we both love that having been to some in SF in the past. This spot was awesome! They had super comfortable couches and it was a super quite night so we had a front row couch. I loved the "vibe" of the people that greeted us and gave us the rundown of the theater. I loved it so much that I got tickets for thanksgiving week for the fam to go as well. I'm so enjoying finding interesting and cool new spots in Reno for entertainment. I'm happily surprised at how much it has to offer. More...

A fantastic evening of top top local theatre talent! Finally got back to Bruka for a show! It has been quite a while, but Victor Victoria reminded me exactly why I'd enjoyed it in the past. The theatre is intimate, guests seated on loveseats with the stage starting right at their feet. Sets are remarkably impressive. Their transformation a show unto itself. The actors, amongst the best in our community.Victor Victoria was a blast, and the cast quite engaging. The storyline followed a woman, pretending to be a man, pretending to be a woman, dealing with the topics of homosexuality and gender identity in an intelligent manner, tempered by humor and elaborate musical numbers. The cast was incredibly fun, and I found myself sinking into the shoes of the characters, as if I was an onlooker in the scene, a sure sign of good acting. If you haven't been to a show here, check out the lineup and go! Went to a play with a friend of mine. I had been once before and enjoyed it. The seating is comfortable, bathrooms are clean, bar is well stocked and reasonable. I do feel that their ticket prices are a little high, but that is just my opinion. I have always enjoyed little theater companies like this. Fun if you are looking for something different to do. Amazing, quaint theater to watch a play. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. It's been updated since the last time I was there (too many years I let pass, won't let that happen again). I saw Abducting Diana last Saturday. Funny, witty, enjoyable play.  Excited to see what they produce next. Can see myself as a regular. More...

I've been to about a dozen or so plays here and my experience this past weekend reminded me of how much I love this place. I saw "Nation of Two" on opening night. Showroom service was spectacular, they let us pick where we wanted to sit and were given a couch to ourselves. Nothing fancy, no frills, just service, comfort, and great shows. They have a bar downstairs that has very reasonably priced adult beverages. Since it was opening night there was a champagne reception with appetizers provided by Wild River Grille. They've recently upgraded their restrooms, which is nice. I've seen an incredibly diverse set of shows here and love how they keep it variable. If you haven't been here- so yourself a favor and go! This is a great local theater in Reno.  The customer service is exceptional.  One of our party didn't realize they purchased tickets online for a previous night and missed the show, but they were able fit them in.  We enjoyed the holiday favorite The Buttcracker.  Full bar is available too.  Look there season of plays and be sure catch one when in Reno or definitely if you are a local.  Gotta love this place. Bruka is hands down my favorite "little" theatre in Reno.  It has character, it's intimate, and it's got a full bar! The seating is eclectic - you are either on a couch making friends with strangers or sitting in a movie theatre style seat down in front.  There is no bad seat in this house.  Due to the size of the theatre, you almost feel like you are part of the production and the cast and crew certainly foster this feeling.Once you are seated by whatever amazing staff is playing usher that evening you can drop your program on your seat, to hold your place, and then head downstairs to the bar.  You'll want to do this ASAP as the line builds up quickly!  They also have snacks.  The prices might be a little high but c'mon people they have to pay the rent for that amazing space somehow.  SO crack open those wallets and support your local artists...by having a drink and watching a good show.  I don't see a downside here?! This little theatre is a real treat. We went to see the Nutcracker, which was hilarious. The theatre itself is very small, with seats in the front row and couches or love seats in the back rows. Seating is general admission, first come, first serve. We called ahead and let them know about our disability, and they totally accommodated us.If you are familiar with black box theatre, that is what this is. There is only seating facing the stage, not on the sides. It is a very small, intimate theatre where you are literally right on the stage with the actors if you are in the first row. They sell drinks and snacks in lobby. Why four stars? The accessibility for disabled people is difficult. There are steps going into the theatre and steps going down to the theatre. There are no ramps. If you were in a wheelchair I do not think you could do this.I will say though that the employees were very helpful guiding me up and down the stairs. More...

If you have not to the Bruka,  you will have to make your way down. I have lived in the Reno area since 1996, and this is the first time going to the Bruka theatreIt is not a big theatre, but a small intimate theatre where there really is not a bad seat. We say the Nutcracker, it was hilarious, but that is another story.I really believe in supporting local theatre, and this group does a awesome job.The theatre is set up in a black box set up.If you are not familiar with that term, it is a small theatre where literally the first row is on the stage. The actors make due with very little stage andBackdrop changes.I hope to be back soon. After several years of talking about going to see Buttcracker and missing opportunities because tickets and shows sell out fast we finally had the pleasure of joining Bruka Theater for Buttcracker 7: Osmosis - YAY! ! For December 2016, Buttcracker 7 performance was a mashup of Wizard of Oz meets hillbillies for lack of better and let the side splitting laughter take over from start to finish lol.Purchasing tickets like the other reviewers shared was easy-peasy but be sure to not hesitate like we have in the past or you will miss out on a unique take on a classic holiday favorite, that will have you laughing hysterically and enjoying every moment of this wonderful theater troupe.Side note: I must share with you that I have gone to traditional Nutcracker ballet performances since I was a little girl and my husband & I continue with the tradition by trying to go every other year while enjoying the Reno Philharmonic - just a little bit of our history with the Nutcracker story. Continuing - we have been interested in changing things up a bit so had an idea of what was in store for us and this spin with hillbillies meets Wizard of Oz was wildly entertaining and kept us in stitches. We are sooo glad we spent the evening with Bruka Theater - it was a HOOT! THE costumes, makeup, set design, choreography and the storyline was everything we hoped it would be and then some. We look forward to seeing other performances here and of course another Buttcracker again! Thanks Bruka Theater again for a wonderful evening! More...

First time I saw a show at the Brüka theatre, It was with my drama class 6 years ago or so. Finally made it back there to catch the performance of Next To Normal! Absolutely LOVED it!!!! The director did a phenomenal job! The performers were absolutely amazing! I must have gone through an entire pack of tissues! Cori Lynne Cooper was phenomenal as Diana! Every emotion, every thought, you could see it all in her face, and her body language! The way she held herself through all the ups and down! Truly amazing! And Ryan Kelly also killed it! His constant struggle to fight for his wife and his family! The fact that he slightly resembled my husband also brought everything a little closer to home on the whole Husband being married to a woman who is Bi Polar depressive. And the conductor, Cami Thompson, was also amazing to watch! She too showed the emotion of every single note played, truly an incredible sight! I highly recommend everyone see this if they get the chance! They are having a special performance on the 29th where you actually get to speak with a panel of specialists that will answer questions about mental illness. Wish I could attend, but I have two performances myself that day! More...
