My son has been a student since BFKC opened. The teaching is top notch. Everyone is passionate about developing strong, creative dancers. I love the positive vibe and sense of community. We LOVE Break Free! It is so much more than just another after school activity for your child. It is a place that creates a community, by fostering creativity, supporting individuality and encouraging everyone! The genuine patience and attention given to every student is unmatched. Break Free is teaching so much more than amazing DJ & breakdancing skills- they are helping to cultivate future leaders and a community that will have a ripple effect way beyond the four walls of this studio. Four years ago, my son Paul took hip-hop class at The Culture House with Sug. He loved it! Along with some new dance moves, Paul learned some good body awareness, had good practice finding the beat, and learned how to exercise self-control of his body. (If you’ve ever been in a room of eight-year-olds, you know this is an important skill to develop – ha!) Paul did all of this with a wonderful teacher who now has his own school in Overland Park - Break Free. Sug has a big heart – he cares deeply for his students and wants them to succeed. He also imparts the importance of hip hop and how it (and all dance) can be a pathway to peace. I will never forget that spring because Paul missed the big performance because of a crazy virus. Even when Sug was in the midst of all those dress rehearsals and performances, he would check in to see how Paul was doing. We are lucky to have had a student on his roster. If your kiddo is interested in hip hop, OR if you and your kiddo haven’t really discovered “their thing” yet, I would HIGHLY recommend trying out classes with Sug at Break Free. He is wonderful! My 12 year old son has been Breakin' at Break Free Kansas City since March and absolutely loves it. The instructors at Break Free create a family atmosphere and teach kids about true Hip Hop Culture.
