This was my fourth time dining here. I love the restaurant's decor and feel. all of my other dining experiences were very good. I was so disappointed this visit. I had been talking it up to everyone I take there.This visit, the chicken rice soup was just okay. It was disappointing. My Caesar salad was very good. The French Onion soup was also okay, not remarkable. My meatballs were very good but the marinara sauce was very greasy. It had never been greasy. Onion purses were good. The Chicken-Scarapariello with sausage was just awful. It was a chicken thigh, deboned but skin on. Overcooked and so small. One piece of sausage sliced and 4 pieces of planked potatoes. This was sitting in a greasy mess. She ate the sausage and that was it. That was 24.00. I must say, if this had been my first visit, I would not go back.What happened? I'm not sure how else I could fairly summarize this culinary experience other than to say: WOW. Me and my better half both started with the Charleston. What a treat! I felt like I was at my grandmas in 1960's South Carolina! Truly impeccable. After the drinks, we grabbed some French onion purses and the coconut shrimp. The purses were...well PURfect!! Melt in your mouth delicious. The shrimp was delicious as well. For dinner, my wife got the Fish Fry. She said the only fish she's ever had that was better was in Alaska! Fresh as could be! The food was excellent, I wish I could remember our server's name, everything she suggested was fabulous. A shout out to the bartender, (he had long hair pulled back)one of the best drinks ever, it had grapefruit in it, so refreshing.

This has been one of my favorite restaurants in the area for several years now. But the last couple of times have been disappointing. Skirt steak is a staple fave of mine and last few times I've ordered it has been served luke warm at best. Tonight we learned the exceptional unique blood orange martini they had has been taken off the menu and no longer offered. And Dinner for the 6 of us took 45 mins to be served. Such a bummer. Service continues to be reliable which is always a plus. French onion purses are still amazing. Nice upscale restaurant. It is noisy because it is basically one large room without any walls or dividers. There is patio seating weather permitting. The menu is not very large and if you want a steak you won't find it here. All in all it's a good alternative to the downtown hustle and bustle. More...

Absolutely amazing! Stopped in Benton Harbor on our way up north and had the best experience at Bread+Bar. The food was absolutely delicious and the complimentary bread was incredible. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, the chicken with Italian sausage, salmon, and the sriracha chicken with soba noodles. The service was also fantastic, Sam was so sweet! Will definitely come back. I've had Bread+Bar on my list for quite some time so I was excited to finally go for dinner last night. Walking in - it was a great first impression with a really cozy room and a great vibe. Our server was great despite being very busy and being new. I'll say this - the service was slow - very slow - but it wasn't because of the server. It seems as though their bartender and their kitchen were backed up so everything was really slow coming out (especially drinks) and was the biggest disappointment of our visit. With that said - the cocktails were really good. We had the prickly pear margarita and blood orange martini (which was super tasty but I found it odd that they "ran out" of the blood orange martini after one drink and we dined early (6:30 pm). So we wait about 15 mins for them to tell us they are out of the drink - and then another 10+ mins to finally get our second drink). On the apps side - we tried the French onion purses which were tasty .... but not outstanding in our opinion. The salads were very good with the loaded wedge being our favorite. On the entrée front - we felt the skirt steak was good (though we felt it was a little sloppy on the presentation) and their branzino fish special - while a large portion - was good but it just seemed to be missing something (I think they indicated a brown butter sauce but not sure we saw much of that on the plate). While I had high hopes, I was a little disappointed but will likely give this another try this summer as there was a lot of good looking food we saw coming out around us. More...

A favorite for a terrific and varied menu, exceptional food, and good service. The French onion "purses" are amazing. Every dish was excellent. And the staff - went above and beyond helping us celebrate 2 birthdays and making our birthday celebrants feel very special. The staff made a presentation of the cake we had brought from their bakery, Bit of Swiss, even locating a candle. Always enjoy dining here - the extra touches by the staff made this simply amazing.
