Smoky, flavorful, and tender to perfection! We came after seeing all the reviews and it was everything we expected and more. We tried the ribs, pork belly burnt ends, and brisket and all were perfectly tender and delicious! They had 3 different sauces to pair with them but we honestly thought all the meats were perfect and didn't need anything additional. We also tried the coleslaw and sweetpotato and kale, and those were just ok, which isn't a bit deal since we came for the bbq. I think I might stick to meats only next time, and I'll definitely be back soon! More...

I ordered the 2 meat platter with brisket and sausage with sides of potato salad and broccoli/cauliflower. The potato salad was really good but super heavy on the vinegar. I never got the broccoli/cauliflower and instead got coleslaw but I'm not a fan of that so I didn't eat it. The brisket was decent but not incredible. The sausage was awesome. I ordered two barbecue sauces, one a standard sauce that was good. The other was the white jalapeno bbq sauce. It was good but crazy spicy. The only downfall was my meal was $29.00 and I think that's pretty pricy for what I got. More...

Love Botto's BBQ!!!They were a great addition to the Brooklyn neighborhood and are now one of my favorite BBQ spots in all of Portland. Located in the former location of Pok Pok Wing, they serve your traditional BBQ. They usually have 4-7 different meat options and a few sides. I've tried almost everything on the menu and always leave happy. Ribs, brisket, and Mac-N-Cheese are the go to dishes.Besides being really good, they are fairly priced and the staff is always nice. I recommend getting the combo plate, this way you can try a bit of everything. More...

This food is killer! Best BBQ I've ever had. The price is more than I typically like to spend, but quality meat is just not cheap and this stuff is QUALITY. My personal favorites are the pork belly burnt ends and the brisket burnt ends. Each of those items are only available one day per week so check their specials to see availability on those. The brisket and pork ribs are also outstanding. Highly recommend. For sides, I'd go with the Mac n cheese. The jalapeño poppers were great too!The Cole slaw was very basic. Nothing special. But I'm not really that into Cole slaw and I go to Botto's for meat, not salad. The place it's self is kind of a bust. Minimal, worn out and dated. But I'm happy to pay for quality of food instead of renovations. We just order take out.Last time I had it, I had a big order. They shorted me three jalapeño poppers but when I called in, the guy was super respectful, and refunded my money. No problem. It was a bummer, but mistakes happen and they cleaned it up well.Again, this food is outstanding. I wish it were cheaper, but I can't reasonably expect food like this to be much cheaper than it is, all things considered. More...

I stumbled upon their Yelp page when I was looking for "Hot and New" restaurants. The food looked pretty good so I decided to give this place a try. To my surprise, I REALLY like the food!!! When I arrived, I realized that they took over the old Pok Pok wing location. They have their own parking lot and a locked porta potty if you need to use it. There were tables inside and outdoor table as well. It was raining really hard when I went, so no one was sitting outside. We ordered 3 meat tray with 2 sides: the regular brisket, pastrami brisket, slab spareribs, potato salad and spicy Mac. My favorite was the Pastrami Brisket, but all of the other items I tried were delicious as well! There's a few items I will have to go on the weekend to try since they look amazing!!! More...

I called in to pick up on my way home, and they had it hot and ready when I got there. I'm not a fan of the regular Mac and cheese, but I'm a huge fan of the spicy Mac! That's just a personal spice preference, I'm sure others disagree. The ribs fell off the bone and the brisket was delicious. It's definitely my new go to for BBQ. Overrated compared to a number of other BBQ joints that I've been to. Now, they were out of ribs and sausage (at 33OPM) which suggested excellent meat or not enough planning to anticipate orders; and, ribs would be the dominant meat most people order. I suspect the latter. So, tried a very fatty pulled pork and one slice of brisket served with a runny Mac & cheese and a potato salad that lacked a solid seasoning. (Salt, pepper, mustard??)Desert consisted of a doughy choc chip cookie and a crack pie that was okay. I know meat prices have gone up but $30 per person is a little spendy although that did include dessert and soft drink. May come back to try the ribs but not any time soon. More...

Best BBQ I've had in a while. We had the Meat Feed Bag/Platter/Meal - 1 rack of ribs (just a step from falling off the bone - how I like it). 1 lb pulled pork, so flavorful, and not dry at all. This is often times what I have to smother with BBQ sauce. Brisket Pastrami - no words all drooling - also no issue with the "lean" part of the brisket being dry which is often times an issue. Mac and Cheese and Tater Salad were stand out. The only thing I'd jab them for is the BBQ sauce. You don't really need to use it, and we got 3 small side containers of it! Best. BBQ. In. Portland. Full stop. I love barbecue. Absolutely love it! We have been looking for a good barbecue joint ever since we moved to Portland almost 2 years ago. We had been told that it was Reverend's and after three different attempts, never really enjoyed our experience there. Imagine my excitement when we tried Bottos! Now, it doesn't look like much from the outside but looks are deceiving. The stuff inside is magical. I had the three meat and two sides platter. For my meats it was fatty brisket, pulled pork, and spareribs. For the sides, I had baked beans and mac & cheese.Let's talk about the sides first. Most the time when you get baked beans from a joint they are a little more than what you would expect if you open a can at home. Not here! These were baked beans done right. They were a bit smoky, a bit tangy, had some nice flavoring to them, and they weren't too sweet. Then we get to the Mac and cheese. This side is easily one of those sides that is often abused at restaurants. Most the time when you get a side of macaroni and cheese it is some limp noodle mess that has been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. Once again, not here! This mac & cheese was perfect. The pasta was just the right amount of al dente while the cheese had a pleasant spice to it and really complemented the meat.So let's talk about that meat. Some people will tell you that the barbecue sauce makes a barbecue joint. That's not true. Anyone can have a crappy piece of meat and just slather it with too much barbecue sauce and then all you end up tasting is the sauce. If you wanted that, get a bottle of sauce and go home and throw it over a hamburger. When you go to a barbecue joint, the meat should stand on its own. That is exactly how the meat holds up here. The fatty brisket was perfection. It wasn't too greasy that you worried about having a heart attack but it was certainly fatty enough that you got some really nice flavor from it. Next up, the ribs. Oh my! The bark on these ribs was amazing. They were just the right amount of tender combined with hardy so that it felt as if you were actually eating ribs and not just over cooked a mush that fell off a bone. Finally, the pulled pork. If I were to say I had a least favorite part of my meal, it was the pork. It was OK. And nice with the other two meats. But I would've been disappointed if I just got the pork. Last but not least, the sauce. The meal was presented with three different types of sauce. A white sauce, a somewhat mustard-based sauce, and then your typical barbecue sauce. All three were very good and did not take away from the meat in anyway at all.So, there you have it! After searching for nearly 2 years we have finally found the best barbecue in Portland. More...
