Highly recommend Boston Dog Butlers overall. Pete - the owner - is really responsive and thoughtful and will always go the extra mile to make sure your dog is taken care of.
Every team member who has taken my dog for a walk or a to a dog park or on a hike has been friendly, great with dogs, sent loads of photos and feedback, and just generally wonderful. The dog sitting care is top-notch - you know your dog is getting personalized care and attention at somebody's home (shout out to Brittany and Eddie who housed my small monster for multiple days to her joy).
I cannot recommend James as a trainer highly enough. He has an impressive blend of theory and practice that makes it so much easier to understand the "why" behind the "what." He helps you understand the levers and reasons behind your dog's reactions, which allows you as their owner to operate independently. He gives you the tools to do more than just parrot what he tells you - he helps you understand the bigger picture so you can continue to bring your dog along between training sessions, and links to videos and useful tools/toys that might help. Plus, the sessions are always fun and he meets you wherever works for you - in a park if you are working on recall or at your home if you are working on reactiveness to doorbells.
Also shout out to Jamie who saved my life one day - when they were closed - when my dog managed to roll in horrible, horrible, horrible poo and she gave her a bath (x3 because it was so ground in to her fur) during inventory day out of the kindness of her heart.

I have two Standard Poodles and have been coming here consistently (1x per month!) for years. My pups are always happy they get to spend the day playing with their friends and when I pick them up they look and smell amazing. The team there is incredible! Our Australian Labradoodle loves going to Boston Dog Butlers for grooming since he was almost a year old. It's clear when we arrive that he's happy to be there. And when Cassidy brings him to the front it's clear he likes her a lot! As important, the closed front door and "baby" gate access to enter the space ensures the safety of dogs waiting out front to be picked up. There's also a long, flexible safety gate in front of the door area that can be moved as necessary for owners to arrive without the dogs getting to the door at all. Cassidy has done a wonderful job with his grooming, pays attention to what we like, and provides great advice. And when our dog was matted beyond repair, Cassidy carefully shaved him. Cassidy, Melissa and Krysta have all helped with beautifying our giant Sheepadoodle, Otis, and he always comes out looking (and smelling) like a star :) It's so great to have found a groomer that knows how to care for his thick, curly coat; and more importantly cares about him and for him when he's in their shop. Our samoyed has been with Boston Dog Butlers for three years and they are really amazing! Every time he is back home with clean and fluffy coat. Absolutely love these groomers and the business as a whole! My dogs aren't great with other dogs and they are so accommodating - ensuring my dogs and other dogs are comfortable and calm when I bring them in for their appointments. I would have given a five star review but it's nearly impossible to get anyone on the phone at the location. Every time I call, I have to leave a ton of information with an answering service and wait for a call back - it's an inconvenient process and gives me a bit of anxiety because if there was ever any type of time sensitive request or need to get in touch with the team there, I wouldn't be able to. As a whole, I'd absolutely recommend this business but would love to see some changes in how communication is handled. More...

We needed our Copley to get a quick partial groom (basically, he needed a better quality bath than we could give and a butt area trim to keep clean! ) and we were surprised to find so few local groomers offer this service. Luckily, Boston Dog Butlers was happy to accommodate us and got us in quickly! Not only did he come back with his nails trimmed and his butt clean, but he smells amazing, is all fluffed out/adorable, and is just generally beautiful. They were communicative, easy to schedule, and gave us a 40-minute heads up when it was time to get him (and stuck to the original timing promised). Wish I could leave no stars worst groomers around I would rather take my dog to petsmart to be groomed very rude staff and highly unprofessional I made an appointment a month ahead of time and was told on the day of the appointment that they couldn't cut bens hair because he didn't have kennel cough vaccine I assured them it was an emergency and that Ben was a rescue dog in desperate need of a grooming as he was matted and most likely in pain they showed no sympathy and were not willing to work things out with me they neglected a dog in need an have no heart period

Boston Dog Butlers has been taking great care of my boxer Ruby. I can tell you that Ruby loves it when they come to pick her up. Tom takes her on her daily walks and she's been going on weekly hikes with Brittany both who give her a lot of care, attention and make sure she's taken care of. If I could give them a zero I would. I got called a bitch. I scheduled an appointment (which took multiple voicemails). I sent my dog vaccines. They never sent the prices ahead. When I mentioned that, they're like, "well, did you ask?". Excuse me? That's standard. Also, they had multiple doors for security. I get it. But I had 3 dogs on me. And the front desk person didn't come to help until my poor 17 year old dog feel backwards and got off his harness. So scary. I was tangled. It was a circus. They weren't even apologetic. It took her MINUTES of me struggling. They were extremely rude. One of my dog's vaccines expired just a few days ago. So they refused. I wish they had called me earlier. I took time off work. And to top off my horrible experience, on my way out I was upset and said they sucked for not letting me know the price, that they couldn't do one of my dogs, or help me at the door. The manager called me a bitch. I didn't catch all she said. Bad place. Unprofessional staff. No common sense or basic courtesy. More...

Looking for an amazing experience for your pup? Run, don't walk, to Boston Dog Butlers!! A fellow dog mom recommended Melissa & Jamie at Boston Dog Butlers Pet Spa on Tremont for grooming over conversation at the dog park and, 18 months later, we cannot imagine taking our little guy anywhere else! Our mini Labradoodle is quite sensitive, tends to be shy and significantly dislikes being groomed or brushed in most areas... even by us. He unfortunately had a couple of negative grooming experiences prior to finding BDB which contributed to his fears. As a breed with hair that requires a good amount of maintenance, this has presented quite a challenge. Melissa and Jamie at Boston Dog Butlers Pet Spa have been absolutely incredible -- amazingly patient, kind and caring in each interaction (with both canines and humans alike!). They have worked hard to build trust and rapport with our pup, meeting him where he is and slowly growing his confidence. Their approach is consultative, professional and always prioritizes the dog and their experience, informed by the team's in-depth knowledge and training. They take breaks for play, treats and always make sure he leaves on a high note! We love that we can be confident that they will do a great job aesthetically, while most importantly respecting and supporting his needs and comfort on psychological and emotional levels. Â He now pulls us toward the shop whenever we're in the area -- always a telling sign! Â We also now use and love the Boston Dog Butlers walking, park play & boarding services as well -- finding BDB's comprehensive offerings has been a game changer for us, especially being new to the area with no family around as 'back-up'. They have truly been our extended family for care when we've needed it -- and we cannot recommend them all highly enough!!!! If you are looking for a new dog groomer, your search should stop here!! This team is beyond caring and went above and beyond to earn the trust of our pup. The entire crew at Boston Dog Butlers should be commended. They took our golden doodle  (who was traumatized from a bad experience with a different groomer closer to my house) and patiently worked with him until he felt comfortable with the grooming process. They were nothing but sweet and accommodating & went out of their way to try and reverse the fears surrounding grooming that our little one had developed elsewhere. The best! My dog Zelda has been with Boston Dog Butlers for years. They are truly the best and I feel so lucky to know when I leave my girl for the day that she is going to be with people that love her. Jamie has been walking Zelda for years now and I can truly say that she has become Zeldas best friend and favorite person. Sometimes Zelda will see Jamie on the street and drag me by her leash to go say hi to her best friend even if it means accidentally knocking her coffee over (sorry Jamie). It is because of Jamie that I have the best photo album of my pup, how does she get her to smile like that? It truly doesn't get better than The Boston Dog Butlers! Our dog Duke has been with The Dog Butlers ever since he was a little puppy. They offer incredible services with a fantastic tech platform. We use them for park play, off-leash hikes, boarding when we are away, grooming, and private training sessions. Their comprehensive suite of offerings is great but what really sets them apart is their incredible team. Brittany is fantastic and our dog has absolutely fallen in love with her! Jenny is so amazing, committed, and kindhearted. And I truly don't know where we'd be without Pete and all of his help. This place is the best! We have a big fluffy sheepadoodle and we're very picky on who gives a good doodle cut and Melissa at Boston Dog Butlers gives THE BEST DOODLE CUT IN BOSTON. Hands down. I'm constantly getting asked all around Boston who cuts Finn's hair so they can copy it! Additionally, and luckily for us, Melissa also is Finn's boarder for when we go away and I'm pretty sure my dog likes her more than me at this point. She brings him home with her and he gets  to play wither her big floofy dog as well. I would HIGHLY recommend all services here from boarding, grooming, walking and even park play. 10/10 services! I had never taken my dog to be groomed before and now we go a few time a year. My golden retriever Penny was groomed by Melissa and she was fantastic. She heard all my concerns and took such good care of Penny. I had a laundry list of things that needed to be taken care of (knots to be combed out, mats to be buzzed out, nails, anal glands, an ear infection to be mindful of) and she did it all! I have a big fluffy white Samoyed who gets very matted as he plays with other dogs, jumps in the ocean, and rolls around on the grass. Boston Dog Butlers, shout out to Melissa, do an AMAZING job grooming him. He always comes home fresh and clean. Also samoyeds are double coated and you never supposed to cut their hair unless their is a health concern - I was always very worried about sending Stogie to a groomer thinking they would just buzz him. Hands down the best groomers we have ever been to. They treated our bulldog Clementine with so much love and care. They have space to let the dogs play around, and are great with dealing with difficult dogs. So attentive, kind, and just all around great place. You feel comfortable and calm leaving your dog with them. Clementine absolutely loved going here, and would literally drag us back at times. Considering she DESPISES baths, this speaks volumes. The staff is super friendly and amazing with dogs. We recently moved to New York City, and I can't find anywhere that seems remotely close to as amazing Boston Dog Butlers was to get her groomed. I am jealous of everyone that can still take there dog here. If you live in Boston, there is seriously no other place to take your dog!!! I recently moved out of the city (to Nashua, NH) after going to Dog Butlers for the first time, and I just made my second appointment to go back. Absolutely worth the drive and wouldn't bring my Maltipoo anywhere else. Matting is very common with doodles and the feeling of getting your fur baby returned shaved is a hard thing for any dog owner. Instead of making me feel like a bad owner, the showed me how short they were going to have to cut his hair so I wasn't shocked, and discussed with me how to prevent matting and tools to use.
