I contacted BOSS along with several other furnace services. My niece had a furnace that could not be repaired and needed to be replaced. BOSS was the only company that was willing to bend over backwards to work with the situation we had. Even with the complication of schedules and them having to wait on others to do their part, they were patient and accommodating. From the quote process to the install, it was smooth. The communication was spot on.

I called Boss Services for an estimate on a ductless mini split and the man who came out, Josh, quoted us 22,000 to install it into our 800 sqft house. While he was here, he stood at our breaker and flipped switches claiming we were wasting power. The next day, we realized he turned off power to our water heater and our oven, basically the only sources of heat in our house right now. He also claimed that it would take a week of subzero temps to freeze our pipes. This morning, 1/8, our pipes are frozen. We called them to rectify the situation because their company gave us very bad advice and we trusted their “professional” opinion. They tried to charge us to have a plumber come out and just look. When we said we didn’t think we should have to pay for them to fix it, they argued with us, asking us “what we would have done differently?” And we responded, run the water at a constant stream, like we mentioned to Josh. Incredible service from Anna who returned my call to Mike Barnes the HVAC Tech that arrived at my home. Mike told me everything that was going on and explain to me what the issues were and how they were going to fix it. The best part was he also gave me all the options on what is was going to cost and a chance to sign up for the BOSS monthly package. The Tribe at boss recently replaced our 24 year old Lennox Elite HVAC system with a new 2 stage American standard system! What a difference in efficiency and comfort ! The install crew was first class, and was able to button up this project in outstanding time! The most amazing thing about the install is the work area was CLEANER than when they started! $30 vs. $4,800 - you decide.
My Rheem tankless water heater stopped working. I called Boss. Boss sent Matt. Matt went into my crawl space and two minutes later told me the unit needed to be replaced. He did not open the unit. He did not check the LED display for codes. He said he could hear that it was bad and needed to be replaced b/c it was eight years old. The price? $4,800. I said that was a lot. He went out to the truck and came back and said the manager authorized $200 off. I asked him how long the job would take - he said two hours. I asked if parts were needed - not really as everything was already there. He also said he would throw in a couple spigots and a humidifier line (I asked about the costs of those items) but he would not put those on the quote. I just had to trust him. OK - he left and I checked the price on the proposed Bryant unit - $1,500. I just couldn’t make heads of the $3,000 labor charge. Felt like a hustle.

From there I called Rheem. Within ten minutes the service rep walked me through a couple simple diagnostics. Check the code - bad igniter. Open the front panel for the unit - double check the igniter. Bad igniter. Ordered the igniter $30 delivered. Installed the igniter out the cover back on - hot water!

Subsequently - I called Boss and spoke with Sarge (plumbing manager) about my experience. Sarge said he’d speak with Matt about being more diligent about his diagnostics and communication skills. No apologies. No “WTF” we tried to rip you off! I asked for the $69 visit charge to be returned. He said he’d send it out. Never got the check. Called him twice - check is in the mail twice. Caveat Emptor.

Great people, awful prices. Matt H arrived promptly at the beginning of the appointment window, explained clearly what needed to be done to fix our tub drain and how much it would cost, and was fast, friendly, and professional in completing the job. $550 to replace part of a drain is insane, but the service was excellent. If you can afford them, they're worth it - just be warned that they are really expensive. More...

Air condition quit on Friday night, Service Tech Gary was here Saturday morning and had the problem fixed in 30 minutes. Gary was friendly and certainly knew what he was doing. I was pleased that he repaired it so quickly and we now have a cool house, which is critical with a house full of people during the Labor Day Holiday.

Brandon was awesome. He explained everything in terms that made sense and helped me make the best choice for my heating and air. The guys who did the replacement were great too!! It took one day to replace both my furnace and central air and I’m very happy with them. They followed up a couple days later and answered any remaining questions I had. In the thick off the season, they had my air up and running in one week which was great and right before the worst of the heat hit. If I have any other needs for any of the services they offer I will definitely be calling them!!! More...

I called boss and arranged for someone to go to look at my mom's central air unit. I wasn't able to be there at the time of the repair, but gary kept in touch with me on the phone before deciding to do any repairs. A lot of companies would have manipulated a senior citizen and charged for a repair that they knew wouldn't fix the problem, but he was honest enough to tell me that the 300$ repair probably wouldn't fix it.
