Our waiter was very accommodating and the Mac and cheese was the best we've ever had! That being said my steak had to be sent back TWICE for being underdone. Kind of a blatant slap in the face. My kids got mocktails and had so much sweet and sour the didn't take more than one sip. The espresso martini was tiny and just ok. First time here and hopefully not the last. We are from out of town so we looked at places near us. We had to wait to be seated but that's most likely because of the holidays and didn't mind it. The service was great, our server provided great choices and made us feel welcomed which I think sometimes gets missed when you are not local. I got the Velvet splash as a drink, it was amazing and then we had the strawberry bruschetta and also delicious it had a great mix of fresh and oil. I used to love coming to this place!!! STAY AWAY!!! Horrible service!! I don't know what happened to our waiter most of the time! ! He was in a horrible mood, our food took forever to come out and when I told him to cancel my dessert the asshole flipped out on us and got upset!!! This literally has never happened here, I always come for the Steak but over all service from our waiter was the WORST!!! Then when I asked the waiter if we could speak to some one he got upset and put his finger in my face and said you get the manager!! I was like wtf, How am I supposed to get him if I don't even know what he looks like or where he's at. He then walked away and left us sitting there not knowing what to do! I then approached one of the waitresses standing near by and asked her kindly if she could get a manager and she was so sweet and did. I guess this asshole was having a bad day but we didn't deserve to be treated like this. Soon after the manager comes over and I explain to him what happened then he said he will have a talk with him and apologized. I told the manager how I asked for a to-go box and bag for our food and our waiter threw out bag at our table then it fell on the floor he then walked away knowing that the to go bag was on the floor. The manager saw the bag on the floor and apologized and went to the back to go get us a clean, new bag. He apologized once again and conversation ended. Literally WORST WAITER EVER!!! We met some friends out for some after Thanksgiving, no leftovers, snacks and drinks. We made a reservation for 2:30pm and despite parking issues and being a few minutes late, we were promptly seated. We were informed that the kitchen was not serving dinner until 3:45 so we could have drinks and appetizers only. No big deal, we were going eat snacks anyway. I had an espresso martini (post Thanksgiving pick me up) and my friend had a Tempranillo (as recommended by our server Ashton). We also ordered the meatballs, grilled shrimp, salmon ceviche (to die for, so much yum), pickled vegetables and chorizo brussel sprouts, everything was delicious. Two of the party also ordered burgers and not a complaint was to be heard from their full mouths or stuffed bellies. Now that we have established the food is very good, let me move on to our favorite parts of the afternoon, Ashton (server) and dessert!Ashton was friendly and knowledgeable without being overbearing. He took our orders and everything came out perfect and correct! He chit chatted just the right amount without injecting himself into our conversations. This man does serving RIGHT! Definitely ask for Ashton's section. Another bright spot is the dessert Ashton recommended. We were actually going to go somewhere else for dessert but Ashton assured we would not be disappointed. The chocolate ganache with house made vanilla ice cream was something dropped down from the chocolate heavens (new to the menu) it was the absolute perfect pairing with the Tempranillo wine that we moved to. Should definitely be the recommended pairing (scratch that, it should be the required pairing) with the ganache. I came for thanksgiving dinner. We were early for our reservation and were seated without a wait. The server was more attentive at the beginning of our dinner than at the end, causing there to be a longer break between our dinner and dessert. We ordered from the thanksgiving menu. The food was good but nothing that stands out as we might have expected from their other servings. All in all it was a good experience but nothing that might have set it apart from staying at home. We have walked passed the Boiler House at the Pearl numerous times on the weekend and it always looked packed. My parents were visiting and we took them here for a birthday dinner. Our reservation was at 5:30 on a Monday and the restaurant was fairly empty upon arrival. Our server was Suzanne and she was great, she was very knowledgeable about the menu and wines, and was attentive.One thing to note, the bread is extra, it is not included. For the special occasion, we got a tomahawk for the table to share (it takes about 25 minutes to prepare) and 2 mixed green salads (1 main/dinner size with shrimp and the other side salad size), and a wedge salad. The shrimp came on a skewer with pancetta (?) and were delicious. The tomahawk is giant, as expected, and even though the size was giant, it was cooked expertly. We ordered it Medium and you would think being such a large piece, it would be over or undercooked but it came out a perfect Medium. There was a dollop of butter on it and aside from that, I believe the only other seasonings were salt and pepper and that was all that was needed.We enjoyed the meal and I think the Boiler House would be a great special occasion or date night spot. Simply the most AMAZING steak dinner tonight! David was a wonderful server and took his time thoughtfully explaining the food and drink menu to us and gave us wonderful options based on what we wanted for dinner. Alvie was superb as well! He came by and recommended a fabulous pre-drink before dinner and it was delicious! My boyfriend and I had steaks. I had filét medallions with Gorgonzola added on top and it was a winner! The baked potato and broccolini was absolutely delicious and full of flavor! We enjoyed our steaks with a bottle of lost draw Tempranillo from Texas and it was the perfect wine to accompany our steaks with! 1000% we will be back next time we are in the San Antonio area. This was my first visit to Boiler House. My experience was mediocre. The restaurant was stuffy. They need to adjust their AC. I ordered a cheeseburger burger that was served with roasted potatoes. The burger was just OK. The meat was a little dry and there was nothing special about it. The roasted potatoes were over cooked and lacked seasoning. First time here. I made reservations on Thursday for Saturday night. Glad I did. As usual the Pearl is bustling on a Saturday night. I read over the reviews and checked out the menu and read the reviews before Saturday so I had an idea of what to expect and how to order. The reviews raved about the poblano Mac n cheese so I ordered that. It was amazing. The portion is big enough to share. I also shared the salmon plate. It was yummy. I would not recommend this place. It looks good on the outside but that's where it stops. The waiter did not write our order down which is a pet peeve of mine, so of course dressing came on our salad when we asked for it on the side. Instead of making a new salad they washed the dressing off which resulted in a nasty watered down salad. The chicken we asked for the salad was really bad something you would receive at a fast food. We asked for bread, it's supposed to be a fine dining steak house which we received toast drenched in butter. This place is expensive and soooo many better options out there for the money- Morton's, Ruth Chris or really any place but here. I added an extra star because the bar area was cute. Great spot for a date or to grab some good food! I have eaten at the Boiler House several times and have enjoyed each meal and dining experience. The customer service is always between attentive and observant. The resturant is located at the Pearl which allows you to enjoy the River Walk and a great atmosphere. If you go on the right night there are usually events or things taking place at the Pearl. The main item I go for is the ribeye and usually add the whipped potatoes. This last visit I also ordered the quail poppers, guacamole that came with toast and Brussel sprouts. The steak was very well done and had a subtle but good flavor especially after the butter melts. It went perfect with the Brussels sprouts and whipped potatoes. The quail poppers and guacomole and toast were a great start for the meal. I definitely recommend if you are looking for a nice spot to enjoy a quiet meal with someone. It is a bit pricey and on the higher end but for you definitely get some good food. A few weekends ago, I met up with a girlfriend to catch up and decided we would stroll around the Pearl before we selected an establishment to dine at. She had never been to the Pearl and took in the sites while we enjoyed the flagrant smells of the meals being provided within the walls of the establishments.After going into Southerleighs, the limited menu kept us on the hunt for dinner and within seconds our nostrils were tantalized from the aroma wafting from the Boiler House. Because it was around 6 in the evening, the restaurant was not at capacity. The hostess was very welcoming and informed us that we could dine at the bar with no wait. The ambience was inviting and we cozied up at the bar with a direct view into the kitchen. The orders were coming in rapidly and I noticed a lot of teamwork from the managers ensuring the meals were coming out quickly. I later learned that night that Bobby and Mike were the managers on shift who kept the ship running smoothly.The Meal: Allergic to Peppers Beware ~ Our waitress Patsy added to the overall ambience with her welcoming conversation and charm. She provided recommendations for our meals and we decided to dine on the Pork Shank, I selected the Lemon Roasted Herb Chicken and to fully indulge our inner foodies, we decided to end the meal with a Brownie and Peach Bread Pudding. While my girl sipped on Patsy's recommendation of a glass of Tempranillo, we chatted it up with another patron at the bar and waited on our meal to arrive. My girlfriend's shank stole the show as the meat fell gingerly from the bone as she dipped into her creamy polenta. My meal on the other hand consisted of 2 chicken breast that could of stood a few more minutes in the oven to crisp the skin. While tender, the chicken didn't resemble the photo of rotisserie style chicken that made me select the meal. Unfortunately for my throat the meal contained poblano peppers that made my throat itch (I'm allergic to Jalapenos and apparently now Poblano peppers). Patsy came over after I repeatedly asked for water and I informed her I was possibly having a reaction to the peppers. I didn't have my Benadryl on me so she quickly told us where a CVS was located. As my cough became worse, we hastily made our exit from the restaurant, leaving her card on file while I hoped my throat stayed open long enough to consume the medicine.Our Return:After making our way to CVS and getting a stern warning from the pharmacists for not having my Benadryl on me we returned to the establishment. We anticipated our seats would have new diners enjoying their meals, but No.... Patsy had turned our chairs backwards so that no one could sit in them. She was relieved to see me walking and laughing and promptly put in our desert order. Mike came over and inquired why I had to leave so suddenly and when he found out my throat was closing due to my food allergy, he comped my meal. I mean the service was already spectacular, but this took the cake and he even let me order the succulent shank I had eaten off my girlfriend's plate. Emergency averted, we actually spent 3 hours laughing and catching up. With my medical emergency behind me, we polished off our deserts and I thanked the team Over and Over again.If it were up to me, I would eat the Pork Shank and Bread pudding for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. To compliment my shank, I also made a creamy pot of cheddar grits at home and ate the pork shank with that the next day as the servings were large.Highly recommended!!!
