Had a great experience ordering from BlueHoneyBakery. Not from the area, being from Jersey/NYC there are bakeries everywhere, was looking for gender reveal cupcakes for my daughter and while online I also saw the banana pudding cake. I reached out asking the process. I was giving the price through text, sent an invoice paid and My product was ready for pick up in the morning on the date requested. Price was reasonable. This bakery has poor business ethics, etiquette, communication and service. I ordered a cake for January 13, 2023 for our father's 80th Birthday. Bottom line, he placed the wrong date on the order after corresponding with me back and forth several times the week before our event. I reached out by text to remind him my date was getting close and I hadn't received an invoice. When the day came he called me for the 1st time to let me know he made a mistake and he did not have our cake. I was devastated. He said he couldn't accomodate us and was very nonchalant about the incident. I wouldn't recommend anyone to a business that acknowledges their mistakes and refuse to appease the client in amending the situation by attemoting to provide a resolution. This was my first encounter and even though it will be my last I do appreciate the fact the gentleman was able to take my order at the last minute and make something nice and tasty. I looked up bakeries in the area that make last minute cakes and came across Bluehoneybakery. I read some reviews and it seemed like a pretty good choice. Overall as far as the cake goes I was happy with my choice, but my overall experience is what made me rate it 3 stars. I did not like the fact nowhere on the advertisement did it state that it was a home business. Me personally don't feel comfortable conducting business in someone's home. It was difficult finding the actual house because the address is hard to see. There's also no sign displaying the business name to help customers find the location either. From my first initial conversation over the phone to the time that I met the gentleman in person I wasn't fond of. In my opinion he is not professional nor is he polite he has no people / customer service skills. Lastly even though I gave credit for his work with the cake and taking my order at the last minute it in my opinion it was not worth $80 for a 7" cake that's price gouging. More...

I ordered from out of town for a surprise graduation party. The cake and cupcakes were delivered to where I needed them which was a huge help! Communication was constant and the cupcakes were phenomenal. I didn’t get to the chocolate cake but the lemon and the vanilla cupcakes were moist and tasty. I got asked all night who made everything. This bakery worked actual magic for my wedding cake. I wanted something simple since it was a small ceremony but had my heart and soul set on my late mother's chocolate raspberry cake with chocolate raspberry frosting. I took a chance on Blue Honey and woah did they deliver. I've already locked them down to make another for my family's big birthday/remembrance party this winter. What inspired you to start your own business?
My name is Emanul A Johnson, I am the founder of Bluehoneybakery in Norfolk VA. I started my company in 2018. I would love to share my journey to inspire others to keep pushing through to achieve their dreams. I found myself coming up with reasons why I wasn’t ready to launch my business. I started to surround myself with entrepreneurs and other strong peoples and finally built the courage and confidence to believe that I could become an entrepreneur. It’s not something I feel I was born with; it’s a skill I’ve worked hard to build and develop. It starts with the belief that you will achieve your goals and desires for your company. Situations don’t always turn out the way I think they will but I problem solve and formulate strategies to push throughout of each obstacle that presents itself. This has helped me continue to grow and learn how to maneuver successfully in the business world. If it were not for this confidence I would be crippled by some of the obstacles I’ve had to overcome. My success is built on behalf of my grandmother passion and belief in myself and my business.
