Blo Blow Dry Bar

This was the first time I've ever went to a hair place specifically for a blowout and what a great experience! Brianna was my stylist and I certainly didn't make things easy for her. Having never done this before I really had no idea what I wanted, plus my hair is almost down to my hips so it can be a pain in the butt to work with.  She showed me some pictures on her phone of previous client's hair styles and I picked one I thought would look nice. I didn't really consider how my particular cut would impact the final look so when she first finished it was nice but not really what I was imagining. Brianna picked up on my hesitancy and I said I just thought it would be more *hand gesture*. She somehow figured out what that meant, "I think you're looking for more curls", and boom spun me around and right back to work.  Next thing  you know, maybe 10 minutes later, she spins me around and I LOVE IT.So really the takeaway here is I definitely felt like they knew what they were doing, and I really appreciate the commitment to customer service - finding a way to give them what they want even if they have a tough time communicating what that is. Great service! I went in on a Friday morning and my hair lasted all weekend (through a birthday dinner, party, rain and 3 nights of sleep) and still looked great Monday morning! I had Johnny and he was wonderful. Gave me a nice long scalp massage and was so sweet the whole time. It was quick, fun and looked wonderful, even on my hair that doesn't tend to hold a curl. I love getting my hair blown out here! I've never had any issues with leaving with exactly what I wanted. The prices have gone up over the years but I'll pay anything for a blow out that lasts me ALL weekend! October 2017 update: a year later and stylists likes Johnny have become friends as well as trusted professionals. Johnny always greets me warmly and sweetly and is very conscientious about listening to what I'm looking for and checking in to see if what he is doing is on track with my vision. April 2019: Same great service but the app to make appointments is garbage.  No response from the corporate function and the salon can't fix it probably because the app itself hasn't had an update in 3 years. I love this place so much and only trust this place for my hair styling. I have never been disappointed with my experience. I have thick middle eastern hair and had to try out a bunch of salons over the years - what I would find is that the results were always inconsistent and variable on the stylist, and many couldn't work with my hair texture to get me what I wanted. Have been coming to Blo regularly for a few years. Having your hair washed and blown out takes about 45 minutes so it's not cheap. ..but they do have packages available that makes it more reasonable. Figured this deserved another update since it's been a few years - still a 5 star experience in my book! A little different this time around since my past visits were based around a singular occasion (engagement photos, sister's bachelorette party, etc) and THIS time I came in before hopping on a plane for 6 hours. I treated myself to a blowout with the hopes that it would last longer than a day.I was heading out to a four day conference in San Francisco right after my appointment and didn't want to fuss with my hair beyond a morning spritz of dry shampoo and a quick curl at the ends. Honestly, this blowout ended up looking great for a couple days with very little maintenance on my end. I let my stylist know my grand (lazy morning) plan and she intentionally didn't over-hairspray me to stiffness which I really appreciated. The Holly Would is a perfect style that can endure a bit of bedhead since the blowout comes with a lot of volume. I rarely come in for a blowout since I work from home and have very few reasons to get my hair done on a regular basis, but when there's a special occasion (or conference in this case), Blo is absolutely my favorite go-to in the area. Honestly, the first time I have ever gone here was the morning of my bridal shower... which couldn't have been a better idea. My bridal shower was June 30, 2018... I made an appt in the morning for 9:45... my stylist asked questions to find out what look I was trying to achieve for my bridal shower. Once we decided, she worked quick to get me out of there with enough time to spare but most importantly, with BEAUTIFUL curls and the exact look I was trying to achieve. I told her my hair typically doesn't hold a curl well...because typically an hour after my hair is curled, my hair falls back to straight. I have to say I am impressed! It's about 12 hours later, I was in and out of 90 degree heat, 3 1/2 hour bridal shower, and my curls still look great! I would totally recommend this place to anyone. More...

I made my appointment same day (on a Saturday) and was so happy they could squeeze me in. Sierra gave me the Red Carpet and I was in love! This place absolutely saved me on the day of my bridal shower! I had a hair and makeup appointment at another salon and something went wrong and they couldn't take me. I called Blo in a panic to see if they could take me with my shower being in only 3 hours. They told me to get there ASAP and they would make it work. I was in and out in an hour and I looked great! Going to a NYE wedding and tried Blo for hair and makeup.  Best decision ever! Not only are the prices great...the stylists are the best I've ever had. ..and I've had both done for events multiple times.  For makeup,  go to Venice.  She is the best makeup artist ever! My experience didn't start out well. They didnt get me in for my 2:15 pm appointment to get my lashes placed. So I waited a long time. They did start washing my hair around 2:45pm so I was on time for my hair appointment . The person who did my hair turned my whole attitude around. He quickly apologized for making me wait and explained why.  He was very sweet and listened to what I wanted. As soon as he offered to get me wine  I was feeling much better! I come to West Hartford once a month for business. Every time I come I make it a point to get my hair done for meetings and business dinners. When always traveling for business, it's hard to find a good blow dry bar to leave you feeling beautiful before that important meeting. Earlier today, Blo in West Hartford proved me wrong. They exceeded all expectations I had and surpassed any other dry bar I've been too. When walking in I was greeted with a bunch of smiling faces, happy to be at work. The girls were extremely friendly to their clients and also had great knowledge of the products they use/sell. The girl who did my hair made sure i was happy before letting me out of the chair. I must say, this was the most pleasant experience I've had, not only because my hair came out the best I've ever seen it but because the staff made me feel welcomed and did a phenomenal job all around.
