Terrible customer service. After researching a bunch of restaurants because of severe allergies that some in my family have, I first contacted Blanco BBQ to confirm allergen info and that they could reserve tables for a party of around 20. I was told yes and confirmed that they met our allergen needs. Relayed the info to my wife to get an exact head count. I called back the next day and was told they don't reserve tables, especially on Saturday, which I was specific about the day on my first call. Then, I got in contact with a manager who pawned me off on someone else. After explaining again that I need tables reserved for 22 people on Saturday, he said we don't meet the minimum 30 persons and that we would have to take our chances as walk-ins. I called, texted , messenger , several times to get a table . Never got a reply. My son wanted to celebrate his 12th birthday eating bbq. Took my family of 20 for our first experience and ate on the patio at 5 pm on a Saturday =cold ,hard ,old bbq. Sorry Blanco. Not a fan. Acoustic music guy was good and exciting. I’ve eaten alot of bbq up and down the east coast- definitely in the top 3 best ribs I’ve eaten in like 10 States from here to Fla to Pa.
The brisket was tender and the smoke flavor was incredible. I’m considering making at least 1-2 weekend trips a year to the San Antonio area ,from my hometown in Philly , just to eat here again.
If you have not eaten here before , I would recommend the big combo platter with the ribs, brisket, ham, sausage , pulled pork and 2 sides. This way you can taste most of what they have. If you have a partner- make them get a chicken combo- This is the only place outside of Philly that I actually thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend the sausage. ( no, I haven’t been to Chicago yet). The pulled pork was a sweet hot. Just enough bite, definitely above avg. The ham was , well ham. Brisket - off the charts as noted above. Ribs were not the meatiest but the flavor and were perfectly done. Perfectly Gentle pull off the bone but not fall off and the meat melts in you mouth. Flavor is absolutely incredible. Oh and the creamed corn was like none
I ever had before- must have side. Mashed potatoes were - ehh, could have been creamier and were bland. But who cares about potatoes when the meat was this great!
